  1. How accurate are the ideal weight calculations made by measurements of body parts such at bone diameter and stuff? Long ago, before I got more obese, I had such a measurement done at a gym by one of their people. They came out with 225lb. The vague BMI calc says 189 before stepping into obese category. That is a 19% difference. I do have slightly larger leg and thing bones I believe from profilic bike riding as an adolescent. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Are there any muscles that benefits from being overweight? I am not a particularly strong man, but in my past I did have a more powerful lower body from bike riding and swim teams. When I go to the gym, all my weights, are light. Every machine I use, I gotta reduce the weight from previous users! But when it comes to abdominal crunches and back extensions, I am on the opposite side and I am using far more weights available. Maybe the machines use too little weights. For example, I chest press 60lbs both arms together for 3 sets 12 rep. Abdominals I am at 140 lbs (or more). Back extensions, I am at 160 lbs, and torso rotations 135 lbs and I am still hunting for a heavier weight. Seated calf I still can't find a weight yet (testing higher weight so I don't burn too much) Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    What should I be expecting

It's really not bad. Find a gym with a lot of machines. People keep to themselves, lost in their headphones, or talking in small groups. Go at low use times and few people there. I am a LA Fitness member, and they have classes everyday to join. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    When to start jogging?

I've started 1 minute jogs every half mile on my 2.5 mile walks. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. I have a lot of comical Star Wars T-shirts. All sized 4xl and 5xl. I want to keep wearing them because they are funny and some stranger will always comment on it, like a sunset image of Chewbacca with a skateboard, Darth Vader swinging a lightsaber at a pinata, and a casual Friday of a storm strooper at a desk with a wall calendar with princess Leia on it. I have like 15 of them I collected. Is there a place I can have them "professionally" resized smaller? Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Rescuing T-Shirts from pre-op

T-Shirts I am concerned about are Star Wars branded shirts $35 a piece, and sold very few places, I have never seen anyone wear a copy of any of my shirts, that is why I want to rescue them. I put it on a back burner. But now I am fully 2 sizes smaller, and these shirts are like flags in the wind now, so I will be looking for a solution. The graphics are on the front, maybe I can move them to the back somehow. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. 3 months post op and my diet of 800 calories, is mostly composed of meat, lean meat, some snacks like cheese, eggs or deli meat. I am getting the 80 gram protein, and I am also getting 26-30gram fat. Its turning out that I am getting a low amount of carbs. If this is bad, how bad is it, and what high carb food can I sneak into my diet?
  10. You are still doing 4 oz meals/snacks?
  11. What are you eating high in carbs?
  12. After surgery, you'll easily feel full, and by just going by that, you won't get want you need. You need to track want you intake. Especially soon after surgery, you'll have to eat and drink, even if you don't feel hungry or thirsty. You need a minimum 64 oz water, and you need a 60-80 gr protein (whatever nutritionist told you) within the calorie limit they gave you. Anything less and you are holding yourself back, or even harming yourself if protein or water is too low Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. You should actually track what you are consuming. "Alot of miso soup" means what? 8oz, 32 oz? Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. We are told to get a minimum 64 oz water. But what is the ideal target? I've noticed that my biggest weight drops are after days I was unusually thirsty and went well above 64oz. However, that thirst could be a result of whatever other body processes might have caused me to be loose that weight also. If there is an ideal amount, rather than the minimum 64oz, I'd like to do that. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

2 days Post Op - Update

Liquids still sip 8 oz over 20 minutes, and meals should be no bigger than 4 oz ate over 20 minutes. Soon after surgery you might not be able to do 4oz, but do what you can Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

2 days Post Op - Update

Right now, you should be on a liquid diet, like pre-op for a day or two longer, then transition to pureed foods for 2 weeks Then to soft/moist foods for another 2 weeks. All the while getting 60-80 grams protein and 64+oz Water with 30 minutes after water before meals, and 45 minutes after meals before water. Different programs have different variations of this.Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

2 days Post Op - Update

You didn't get any guidance from your surgeon/program? Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. How far are you post-op? I am just 3 months. 100 oz seems a lot for me now, and getting other meals in. However, I will make that my goal. I'll have to create a jabit of keeping two thermos of water with me. I usually travel with a 20 oz. I'll just have to up my game. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Post surgery, you just can't force it down. The stomach will still be small, and you will have to sip over time, basically sip whenever not eating, leaving time before and after meals. Right after surgery, you'll find yourself having to choose between a meal or water. After a while, you'll improve on getting your food in. But it's still hard If you start late in the day, you might not have enough time to get it all in. Some program want you to sip water pre-op as a training method so you transition to post-op easier. You definitely can not drink water with meals post operation, so my program told us to practice that pre-op. My dietician told me that if I have to choose between water and a meal, choose water, because water is critical for weight loss. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. I'll be honest, I didn't research much, or any side effect problems of the surgery. But I can say I never even heard of vagus nerve problems, with anyone, let alone caused by the surgery if that is what you are concerned about. I'd be more frightened of all the problems you WILL GET, 100% guranteed without weight loss, and the skyrocketed percentages for health problems you will face without the surgery. The monitored pre-op diet by my doctor's dietician was the most successful diet I was on. I almost decided not to do the surgery. But the chances I could keep the weight down, statistically we're slim. I am glad I had the surgery. I consider it a lifesaver because in 5-10 years, I'd be in a bad place. MyFitnessPal App

I subscribe to it. I don't think it can predict weight loss. When you set your profile up, you can set some parameters and a goal, and it will autocreate some calorie and nutrient goals. But they were not even close to what my nutritionist had me on pre-op. If you subscribe, you can do customization of the daily goals. For example, set 1350 calories, and 55% protein and 30% fat. Can also then create custom meals and get other viewing options. I can't say I use all the premium features, I subscribed for the customization of the daily goals. 23. I tried you delete this, but can't. After posting I saw it was for lapband. It might be the same for lapband, I can't say. But I know that water is not bad, normally with meals, but none of us are normal here.... You can drink liquid with meals, it's just that you ideally should not because the Water will fill up. If you have blockage, try some sips of water, and whatever volume of water you consume, consume that much less food for the meal Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. Have you tried a tailored suit or dress? High end tailors can provide excellent fabric that can be retailored for a fee. Something to try out. Dress might be 3x cost, but use it 4x as long, plus you get a perfect fit. I'd talk to a tailor if you need clothes for work. I got a tailored suit for a wedding years ago. I was told it could be retailored many times if I was going to get smaller. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
