    Compression shirts

I need a compression shirt to help keep my gut steady as u learn to run. I am post op, 6'0 and 295 lbs. 50 inch waist, 57 gut and 52 chest. I am a 2xl deluth Trading shirt. Size charts say i am a 2xl underwear, bit i wear 1xl. Any brand or size suggestions? Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. How dramatic, or unhealthy can weight loss in feet be? I am just 4 months post-op and lost 39% excess weight (based on BMI) and I have noticed me feet are slightly more slender, and a "bump" on my right foot (below that artery) is no longer annoying me so much I skip the shoe lace hole for long walks. I am still the same shoe size, just my feet seem slightly less "bulky." More importantly, I noticed what appears to be some potential loose skin developing on the outside bases on both my "pinky" toes. Does this become a problem down the road? I know about loose skin, but loose skin in feet would seem like more of a problem. I have always had athlete foot problems, so this concerns me if it gets "worse." Two Weeks Post Op

That is good. As you loose weight, you'll be able to do more Pre-op I could make by stand 30 minutes. I can do over 2 hours now, maybe 4. I was able to walk a mile, now 4-5 (not sure because instead of walking I am trying to do a couch to 5k) Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

  5. If you don't have the surgery, how much could you be paying in diabetic medication? Special items to accommodate your weight? How much do you value a better lifestyle? How much do you value having an easier life than being obese? The payoff is 20 years from now. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

  7. After surgery, it's very unlikely you'll be hungry. Your biggest issue will be trying to eat and drink the diet. Many times you'll have to choose between water and protein (choose water). I take that back. Most people by the end of the liquid post op diet hate and detest protein shakes, and you will be eager for the puree stage! Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Prepare your sleeping arrangements for after your surgery. The incisions will be a bit painful for up to a week whenever you bend at your stomach /abdomen. You can lessen this by pressing a pillow against your stomach whenever you sit or stand. But, it can be a bit painful getting in and out of bed. Plan on using a recliner to sleep in. If you do not have one, arrange the space around your bed so you can lay down the easiest without having to bend. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Newbie

I kept my meals simple. Skinless chicken breast and pork loin when on sale. Fry it with a tiny bit of oil, and use spices. Then after cooking it, I filled the skillet with vegetables and cooked them too. Can make up Protein on Snacks with string cheese. MyFitnessPal is a popular app to use for tracking food. I just need to vent...

I wish I had the surgery at your age. If you did not have the surgery, and waited to my age, you would have gone through 20 more years of failed diets. You will still have to loose weight naturally. Bariatric surgery is NOT a solution, its a tool. Even people with the surgery will loose weight, and gain a lot back because they stopped working on their health. Your stomach will get larger eventually. This surgery is NOT a one way track to your ideal weight. YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR DIETS NOW, NEXT YEAR, AND FOREVER. Let me repeat that, YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR DIETS NOW, NEXT YEAR, AND FOREVER. The surgery is a big help, a giant jump start and increases your success potential. It's all up to you to keep on your diet. And your diets won't be enough, you need to be active, and exercise more than you have before. As you loose weight, you'll be able to so more, and it you want to get to your ideal weight, you will need to work out, naturally, like everyone else. You had your surgery not long ago, your rate of weight loss will taper off, and then you'll be working hard. . So, in the relatively near future, you will be working naturally to loose weight still, or maintain your weight. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Are there any weight loss rates one should be hoping g to achieve? I would imagine that such a rate would be a function of excess weight for men and women. I am almost 4 calendar months post-op and I started at 164 lbs excess weight, and have been averaging 3.8 lbs /week last 6 weeks, pretty straight trendline. Is there a way I can know if I am exceeding typical goals, or faling short, and a way to see how those parameters change as I approach my goal weight? Constipated!

I use Fiber Choice. I just looked online, CVS carries it online for about $15 for 90 gummies (45 servings of 3 gram fiber) and shows out of stock locally. Similar but higher prices on Amazon BJ's wholesale online does not show Fiber Choice, but does show Vitafusion Fiber gummies of 110 servings of 5 grams fiber for $18. It does work. I don't crap literal bricks that clog the toilet anymore and I am out of hemmoroid danger. Not joking, I was closing the toilet with my bricks. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

I bought mine at BJ's Wholesale. So, there might be some at Costco or a Sam's Club. I am pretty sure I saw some for sale at a CVS. The new store designs for CVS seems to have a big section on gummies now. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Eating slowly

Most instructions will be to eat over 20 minutes. Counting or timing chews is tedious. Just devide your food into 4ths and set a stopwatch or use a clock for 5 minutes for each division. Or further devide into 8ths and eat each divisions over 2.5 minutes. Each division could be several bites. So if you set your timer, you'll know at 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5 and 20 minutes to finish each division. And just be sure to chew everything well. And stop if you are full. 30-30-30

Not sure, I avoided protein water because of that. I would drink it as best you can and consider the whole thing as a meal/snack and count it as part of your daily water. My guideline for protein drinks speed was the same as water, 8 oz in 20 minutes. I just would not immediately follow it up with more water. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    30-30-30

The rules apply to Protein Drinks. Otherwise, you could be grazing - and that is bad. Much of the Protein digestive process is done in the stomach. So let your stomach do it job. Water can help, but you need to consume your Protein Drink as a meal so as to not disturb the insulin production cycle. Your protein drink should have plenty of water already with it, so you won't need more. If you drink water while still disgesting, you can change the pH level in your stomach and slow down disgesting. Protein is also supposed to increase a hormone that slows down the stomach emptying food. So, just give your stomach the time it needs for the protein. Why 300 calories?

Same as above. My instructions are 80 grams protein for men, and that is just 320 calories. They want a 50/50 split of calories from carbs and fat for the rest of the 480 calories. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    It's not fun anymore

Find hobbies or activities to participate in that benefits by going to the gym or other training. I've started Krav Maga and HEMA (sword fighting) martial arts classes and a Couch to 5k. Also decided to train for GoRuck.com obstacle course "races." I don't go to the gym to loose weight, or get stronger or bullk up, I go to the gym to enhance my performance on those activities. The Couch to 5k helps more for endurance. I know going to the gym and training helps loose weight, but the real end goal is for my activities. Even just going on 2-3 miles walks helps me in my photography club when we go on photowalks. I may be going to some of the cardio classes at the gym, and to me, that's so I don't get tired as fast in a sword fight bout, and will help me stay in a GoRuck course. Find an activity you would like to do, that makes you want to go to the gym. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Reset pouch

There is no physical reset/resize of your stomach through a diet. The "reset" is more of a return to the foundations of a proper diet. The "reset" usually starts with a liquid diet like you had after surgery and progresses back to normal food. You can web search the variations of the "reset" diet.
