    Help! Thighs are dying!

5 days a week of traing is hardly excessive. Nor is 7 days, if you are doing it right. When you go to the gym, you need to group your muscles together that you are doing to use. Like leg day, back/biceps, chest, shoulders and triceps are three different days, and you can have 2 days between each day or combine two of them together for three days. They need to be grouped because so many muscles rely on other muscles. A shoulder press is pushing the same muscles that the back can use. You need a rest day for the entire muscle group, of at least than one day. I go to the gym 6 days a week, two day rest between each group. On the rest days, your muscle tissue that was broken down, is being rebuilt. Don't keep breaking it down of you will suffer an injury. That aside, your trainer was a dumbass.. obese people should not start with body weight exercises in my opinion. There are two many machines that can be used with light weights, or even light dumbbells. There are also cable machines that can be use in place of machines and dumbells. Cable machines are my favorite because you can use them to better approximate real life movements for specifically c activities like sports. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Health Issues and exercise

You should not be fatigued after your surgery. Do not exercise more than walking until you solve this issue. If your fatigue is related to your diet, then you have problems that exercising will make worse. Make sure you are getting all the required nutrients such as Proteins and Water. If you are not, do not do anything strenuous. See your doctor or nutritionist. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. Sleeved 3/20/18. Almost near target weight. Surgery weight 353. Current weight 226. I am getting bruises on my stomach, halfway between belly button to point wear stomach hangs lowest. I still have fat in my stomach to loose. About 4 inches out from belly button A few weeks ago I got a sudden bruise on my right. I did not suffer any injury that would cause the bruise. I was very surprised. A nice purplely one. Concerned me enough in magic marker the edges to seen if it got bigger. Now, I have a similar one, almost same position on my left side. And a third one; smaller, light tan, higher and closer to my button. My first one has since dissappered. Could any of these bruise marks be related to weight loss or loose skin? Feeling like utter crap

I don't do any special pre or post work out. I just fuel up a string cheese if I feel a little hungry going to the gym. After workout, I have a protein bar. I wouldn't worry and the special concoctions unless you are hard core working out, or at least until you get your diet situation straighten out. If you feel like crap, stop going to the gym, and take some days off. It won't hurt you. Take a week off. In fact every couple months at a gym, you should eb changing up your routine in a significant way. Maybe take a big break, and trying some jogging and train yourself into a 5k. Make sure you are eating enough carbs and protein. You could feel like crap because you are physically exhausted because you are not eating enough. 10. Take fiber suppliments with meals. The fiber absorbs water from the intestines. If you are having such problems, I would make fiber a part of each meal, not inbetween. I haven't had such problems, but when I started crapping bricks that clogged the commode for a day or two (no joke), I started eating fiber gummy chews. Problem solved. I was not getting fiber in my meals, and I hated all fiber suppliments, but the gummy chews are awesome, almost like a sweet candy. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Work at getting your Protein in. You go too long at too low calories, your body gets it elsewhere, from your muscles. That is why Protein is so important. Your body has it's basil metabolic rate, it's going to consume an amount of energy regardless of what you eat. Your body will not magically choose only body fat to consume for energy. The common calories are 600 for women and 800 for men with differing amounts of protein. Typically men are told 80 grams protein, I think women are 60. Of course everyone's body will be different. You don't get enough protein over a long period of time, you'll suffer with things like energy levels and headaches. If you start working out at a more intense level, you'll want more calories so you muscle mass has a chance of growing and maintaining itself. Exercising will increase your metabolic rate, and it means the body will wants it's energy from your body stores, including readily available protein whether you provide it or it gets it from your muscles. You don't want to be in a protein deficit diet. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app

  13. Late to thread.... Getting a tailored shirt, is worth it. A high quality, well tailored shirt will wear better than a presized cheap shirt, will last longer, and can sustain my dry cleanings. And good shirt material, can be taken in if you are still loosing weight. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hard Workouts

I believe the jury is still out on HIIT be steady state cardio. Steady state cardio can get boring. Do both! Do cardio on the rest days from HIIT. There are also many benefits from both. Its more important that you find an activity or exercise you like doing, and can do the most of, because your food diet will have the largest impact on your weight loss. Even if steady state cardio is 15% better, is it worth it if you don't like it? That said, I do cardio because I want to do running and increase my distance,.and I would not change it if HIIT was definitely better. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. There are certainly exercises you can do at home. Just do some research or discuss the matter with your Dr's fitness advisor. For example, at home, you can use light weights for a variety of uses. You can do partial push-ups against a counter. You can get a medicine ball and just throw it up in the air and catch it repeatedly. When you are obese, it's hard to do any movement to get into to cardio. Walking may be the only thing you can do. Try making your walks more brisk. Walking is a good exercise. As you loose weight, it'll get easier and you can go faster, farther. Your knee pains may subside or go away, my left knee did. Fat around knees will reduce motion. My feet were suppinating pre op, now that I lost 160lb, my feet are normal, tread wear on my shoes are perfectly even. Are you pre or post op, and if pre op, when is your surgery? Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. There is a fitness topic you can post in. One can not target a specific area to loose fat from, your body decides, and your abdomin will probably loose the least proportion of excess weight as compared to other body areas. 9 days might be a little two aggressive for any exercises that stress the back or abdomin. I would wait a little while longer. Lifting weights will need Water. So make sure you can get all your Water and Protein in. I remember it was still a struggle that soon after my surgery, if I did not start early enough, I'd run out of time. One activity that opened up to me, that totally godsmacked me was running. I f'ing hated walking, let alone running - science and engineers created bikes, airplanes and cars for that. But I got motivated and trained myself to do 5k's the summer of my surgery. It's a great free way to burn in some cardio, it's free and can be done anytime and anywhere with the right clothing. But in order to train for a 5k, you need to be able to walk it. So keep walking so you can do 3 miles in case you do want to train for a 5k. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app

Beginning a workout after post op

What kid of exercise would you like to eventually do? And have you been doing that before? Lifting weights does not juggle your body a lot, unless you are doing certain ones that really push your core like dead lifts. I would say you can start to lift weights, low weight, and work up. I can sit at a chest press, shoulder press, incline press, tricep and machines and dumbbells, and a dozen more and have my entire upper body still. Some weight lifting where you bend might not be good yet, I would not do abdominals, back extensions or rotations yet. You will need to do weights to maintain some muscle and muscle tone. Get cardio in when you can. After my surgery I trained for a 5k, but waited about 2 - 2.5 months before I actually jogged. I suggest training for a 5k run. It's free, and you can do it anytime at anyplace with the right clothes. But, in order to do a 5k, you'll need to walk it at minimum..... So like everyone else has suggested, get walking, and walk often. The best motivation I found for going to the gym, and doing my 5k's for the cardio is not to loose weight. I don't go to the gym or run to loose weight. I got myself involved in activities where going to the gym supports them. I am training for a goruck.com event, firefighter training, and I joined a international sword fighting league or sorts, Historical European Martial Arts. So, I go to the gym to support those activities. Everytime I go to the gym, I know I am working on a type 2 twitch muscle fiber for a faster sword block/parry or a stronger sword strike, I'll be able to do more push ups at the goruck.com event and I'll be able to pull hoses faster and when I run, I know I am pushing my cardio to loose more weight make everything easier and to givem myself more endurance. I suggest you find a reason to go to the gym or do cardio, because doing it to loose weight gets boring real..... Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app

  23. I tried to emulate what I buy at the juice bar in LA Fitness Gym. Didn't work out well. It tasted good, but turned into a drink, more than a shake/smoothie. I need some ideas on how to "fluff" it up or other input. The PB and or cocoa powder powder also ended up "bubbling" at the top even after mixing. Ice also just disappeared as soon as I used the immersion blender on low. My chocolate PB "drink" 2 tbsp choc PB2 1 tbsp Ghirardelli cocoa 1 scoop GENEPRO Protein Powder flavorless (not the think bully whey type powder, this is "miconized" 8oz fat free milk, 3/4 cup ice cubes from machine 1 tbsp pure maple Syrup (too bitter without) 261 cal, 35g carb (28g sugar, 12 from milk) 3g fat, 43g Protein. Less PB2 powder? Less cocoa powder? More ice ratio? Thicker milk (fattier?) Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Paranoid or maybe not...?

I hated the typical fiber suppliments. I think you could do the gummies, if you chew them completely, you are a month out, most patients are on normal food in Two weeks. If not you could cut them I not slivers. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app
