Use this feature to your advantage. Find unaccompanied children in grocery carts and let the silent but deadlies go. 10 points if they start crying. I did that once, or twice..... Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

Fiber is not helping? You need Metamicil or some other equivalent. I am using chewable fiber gummies. Two servings a day gives me 6 grams fiber a day. My brick loads improved. I may even cut back to one serving. The chewables are so much better because the fiber will not form a homogeneous mixure. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

VSG on 4/16/18: My journey
wjgo replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Also, if you don't have a recliner to sleep at night in, I suggest you evaluate how you can get into your bed with the least amount of moving or bending. Maybe you need to move a night stand or dresser. Your incision pain is manageable, but will hurt when you crunch your gut the slightest. Getting out of bed from 90 degree to sitting up was an experience. One hand on gut and other hand to get my unbalanced body up. I ended up using a recliner. Took a week until I could sleep normally bwith my natural toss and turning. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app -
VSG on 4/16/18: My journey
wjgo replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It might have already been suggested before, but get slippers or slipper shoes with support. You will be required to walk every 4 hours post operation (including hospital stay). Walking on hard floors in hospital socks is not comfortable. Also get plenty of sleep,. Waking you up and unbuckling you from bed, (o2 sensor and those ankle recirculation cuffs) and getting you back in every 4 hours really disturbs sleep. The walking is to help push the co2 out. We were required to clean our entire body in shower night before and day of with "hibaclense" to help prevent infections. It's a precaution my hospital does for all surgical patients. I bought chewable fiber "gummies". I can't stand drinking fiber mix drinks. They work. You may also want something to relieve gas post operation, they are going to pump you up with co2 like a balloon. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I read a post where someone wrote there was a medical and scientific reason for this stall. Can someone link it? It would be nice if I had a reasonable explanation for the pool of blood that will form on my floor after I am done bashing my head into the wall today. I still have personal trainer credits. This week I am going to restart with a personal trainer. I WILL NOT TELL HIM I HAD BARIATRIC SURGERY. I just watch reactions as I loose weight doing little exercises. Don't tell anyone you had surgery. You could make this an awesome joke. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

Some programs just concentrate on getting the right amount of protein. I'd check what your program wants. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

Maybe you are not ready for this surgery yet. I would think about it. The entire surgery is about your diet. You will have the change the way you eat. And even after surgery, what you can eat, will change as your progress to normal foods. And then, it will be different. For example, even a year after surgery, a hamburger patty (not the bread included) will fill you up. And, it not about eating small, you have to eat right. You can only eat so much, and you need to follow the diets to get the right amount and mix of nutrients. It will be the most physically restrictive diet you ever faced. Yesterday, I succumbed to "anger eating" and ate a package of 6 Lance crackers near dinner time - ... well, that screwed me out of protein I needed, because I was too full to eat anything else - hard lesson learned - a package of crackers filling me up was unfathomable before I started my program - more like a box as an appetizer. One of the insurance requirements for almost all patients is that one completes a 3 or 6 months supervised diet. Maybe its something you need to put off until you can maintain a good diet, so that the surgery can be successful for you. Going off a diet is OK, but there will be little room for it post-surgery. Please evaluate if you can go through all the post-surgery food stages, and follow the post surgery normal diet.

4/17/18 is my day! Anyone else having surgery in April? How’s your Pre-op diet going?

I was discharged at 2:30. Back at my desk 4:30. In a small family business, no choice. It would depend on what appearance you want to maintain, and if you don't want anyone wondering. You'll look groggy coming home, maybe next day too. You'll have incision pain, and I found myself walking with a slight hunch for a couple days. If you need to pick something off the floor, even sitting down, you'll feel it. Took a decent week until I could bend over and not visibly wince at the discomfort. One way of minimizing pain to stand from sitting was to hold in gut at incision area with a hand (or pillow cushion). I'd do this subconsciously. Over a week until I could sleep normally. And sleep might be an issue. I never got good sleep because I toss and turn, and every ab crunch I felt it. I had 5 incisions, buts it the bigger one that hurts. I'd say to plan a week. If you have a personal office, maybe you could be back in 3 days, but it won't be exactly comfortable. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

Isopure vs. Premier Clear?
wjgo replied to Sprinkles1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found the Premier Bananna & Cream to be much, much better. I detest their Vanilla flavor, it dies not suit my stomach well. Becareful with done of the Ensure drinks, some of them have high sugar content, at least for my program. You program probably allows you to have sugar free jello and pudding. Mix some chocolate pudding up with Fair Life milk (lots protein) and a couple of flavorless 30gr protein mix serving scoops. I use Genepro protein from local GNC store. Jello Pudding box says 4 servings, so it comes out to 15gr protein per serving, and with Fair Life milk, 21 grams. Regular milk totals it to 19 grams. After surgery you won't be hungry much. As soon as you eat something, you'll be full. I broke down one day, and have a pack of Lance crackers, that was it, had to skip my meal. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app -

It's a variation of mudders and Spartans, but keenly patriotic/military oriented. You are to carry your backpack (or the expensive one they sell that are built like tanks, price in line with top tier backpacks like Eberlestock though) WITH A WEIGHT. 10-20 POUNDS, OR MORE. It's to symbolize military training, in addition to whatever you carry like water. They first promote it as a friendly, reminder community get together event. The encourage teams to do it. Each team carries an American flag, and another single 25lb weight for the entire team of 30. All teams are supposed to also to a service event for their community. The obstacles are more about carrying, crawling, and exercises. Seen pictures of groups hauling logs, carrying stretchers. Like burpies at Spartans, these guys like push-ups. I'd like to be ready for the 9/29 Light Challenge in Philadelphia, the "Mogadishu Mile.". It's supposed to commemorate the Somali battle:. "... Expect a history lesson and a timeline re-enactment of the mission that inspired Black Hawk Down." www.goruck.com Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

I only needed phone, charger and slipper-shoes. You will be tired, I was. You are supposed to be woken up every 4 hours after surgery to walk around the hospital until discharge. That is not simple. IV and pain killer drip has to be made ready, heart/oxy monitor unhooked, ankle circulation cuffs removed, then give yourself a little time to get out, it will hurt, then walking, then getting strapped back in bed. I think the whole walking process took up 45-60 minutes every 4 hours, so it breaks your sleep up, a lot (I also walked alot).
