Just reading about all the insurance drama is breaking my heart! I can't imagine having to jump through hoops like that. Canada may be freezing for 6 months out of the year, but I am grateful that I don't have to worry about insurance, and that my expenses are covered. Hugs to all of you still waiting for your final approval, and sending healing thoughts for everyone who had their surgery this week. There are so many of us that I'm having a hard time keep up with it all !!

I'm Nov 27. Starting liquid protein on Monday. It's getting real now. Good luck and prayers to all my November buddies!!
  7. Great answers, I want to do all of these. I want to fly, and not mind being in the middle seat, with no seatbelt extender.
  8. Wow! Everyone said take the pic, Will do. I start pre op protein liquid on Monday, surgery on the 27th, so pics and measurements will be taken this weekend. Thank you all!
  9. Ha !! Love it !! I truly believe that essential oils have made a vast improvement in my life, physically, mentally and emotionally. I am always looking for an 'oil cure' for any ailment, even before I check the medicine cabinet. Some things work better than others, but I still keep trying. Glad you love them! I have my surgery in 3 weeks, and I'm still trying to figure a way to bring my diffuser to the hospital!
  10. Wow !! Ok, you all convinced me, before and afters will be done !! Thank you all so much, your pictures are all amazing! I love the idea of the same pose (Thank you James, you are a legend!) and the tank and bike shorts (great idea, Thank you Jess, you have my dream body !!) Thank you all for replying, I'm loving this forum !!
  11. I love my Young Living essential oils !! When I was at my pre-op, I brought a list of the oils I use on a regular basis. It was 2 pages, 2 columns each page !! The Dr was stunned!! I had to assure him that I didn't use all of them every day, but I do use numerous daily. I use Thieves with coconut oil on the bottom of my feet. Orange on my toothpaste to whiten my teeth (they practically glow), frankincense and envision as my night cream, I diffuse lavender and northern lights black spruce to sleep like a baby. I love stress away, and valor. Don't get me started, I could talk all night about oils ....
  12. Diabetes is the main reason I am getting the surgery. I am hoping that the 'side effect' of the surgery is that the diabetes will be eliminated or greatly reduced. I have been told there is an 80-85% chance that it will be gone !! That is worth it for me. It is controlled by medication right now, but I know that won't last long without serious intervention,
  13. I lost 40 lbs when I was first diagnosed, but regained 20. No matter what I do, I can't get below 234, I have hovered between 238-234 for years now !! I am hoping that once I am on the liquid diet, that I will actually lose the 9-12 lbs they want me to lose before my surgery.
  14. I hear you. My surgery is 3 weeks away, and I am starting to feel anxious. I am like you, have about 80 lbs to lose, but like so many others, I have tried everything else and can't lose more than 30 lbs. I am older, 51, but have type 2 Diabetes and cardiovascular disease (4 stents). My hope is that the diabetes will be gone, that is my main goal. Don't get me wrong, the weight loss is exciting, but I am very concerned about the diabetes. It is well controlled now, with medication only, but I know it will only get worse as I get older. The anxiety is normal, expected even. I wonder "am I going to have a lot of complications? will I ever eat 'normally' again (not like now, but normally), will I be the one that this doesn't work for?" Lots of things go through my head, but for me, this is the right decision. Improving my health concerns far outweighs the risks for me. Think long and hard about the reasons you initially wanted this. As Apple said, the decision is personal.

    Time off

My clinic recommends 4 weeks, in order to regain strength, and to help to 'dump' at home ! My family Dr had RNY 2 years ago, and went back to work after 4 weeks. He said it was too soon, and wants me to take at least 6 weeks, with a possible extension to 8 weeks.
