Sneezing and Other Weird Signs Your Pouch is Full
Fibro Queen replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
yep - - - I get the hic-ups (which I did not have before my sleeve) or some lumber jack size belching. So unlady-like!! And there have been times, like recently after Thanksgiving and Christmas when I JUST HAD to have a little bit of this and a little bit of that, and a little bit more of this over here. Like I've never had mashed potatoes before? Geez! I'm down to 162 from 279, why would I want to kill myself over a tablespoon of mashed potatoes? Because we don't have giblet gravy every day, that's why! So, on those days when holiday meals are a feast, I will Sneeze, Hic-up, Belch, Cough, and then of course I will have to visit the bathroom to void before I wet myself. But, as long as I am careful I will not spuke. It's like my system is testing all it's warning drills, but doesn't go any farther. -
Why I eat baked potatoes, brown rice and whole grain bread
Fibro Queen replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I eat most of what you mentioned, except rice. My Dr doesn't want me to have that. says it continues to "suck liquids" so I could only eat a teaspoon if I ate any at all, but better to not have it at all -
Does anyone else have such low immunity that when ever they get into a crowd, they pick up whatever bug is out there - - sore throat, earache, flu, who know what? Gets to where I don't want to go out because I know I'm probably going to get something!

Why is it that we can no longer for the rest of our lives drink carbonated drinks or carbonated water like Perrier?
Fibro Queen replied to apositivelife4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am over 7 months out from surgery, and I have had some sodas with no issues. The problem is Drs don't want you to get into the habit of drinking them and the empty calories when we need proteins instead. What we need to realize is our Drs have our best interest at heart, (just as we do our children) and they are not telling us a lie, but they are telling us a non-truth. Everything that goes into your mouth you need to judge for yourself as to "is this the best thing for me, is this going to benefit me life" -
Hi, this is prob to late to help you, but I struggled with taking vits and my surgery is 9 months out (had Oct 2017). My surgeon told me to take prenatal WITHOUT iron as the iron is often the problem that causes the issues. Then of course you have to get your iron through your diet. Begin by cooking everything in a cast iron skillet. You can sometimes find chewable iron if you need that. Currently, I must admit I am not taking my vits. The taste just makes me ill. But my last labs were just fine, so I am doing ok. (thankfully) I wouldn't suggest this for everyone however.

I have had mulitple issues from my surgery, and there have been many many times that I have wished I did not have it done. I think out 8 months, I have only felt well for 3 days, I keep track of my protein, my H2O, my output my everything. I am still seeing my Dr every month (grrr). I have had numerous tests and he says everything is healed well, nothing is wrong, just the fact that I had Fibro and would take a long time to heal. I say BALONEY!!! I get nauseous almost every meal, which is still 4 ounces. Anyone else have these kind of issues?
-
my hair was naturally thin, so I figured I would be bald. I couldn't stand the vitamins, they made me sick, so I stopped taking them. I do take Vitafusin B12 and Spring Valley Hair Skin and Nails. I have had no hair loss. I have been very surprised. good luck ladies.

Let's Play A Round Of: How I Get My Protein Post WLS!
Fibro Queen replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
at almost 8 months out I still cannot stand eggs, even the smell makes me ill. (Doc tells me this is not unusual!) I do alot of beans for breakfast. , 3 days a week a protein shake with vanilla yogurt , fruit shake. lunch and dinner - - protein and veggies. snack - - fruit. drink - - lots of water water water -
the movie theater we go to offers such choices as fruit and cheeses, nuts with dark chocolate, etc. Of course the cost is up there. I have tried taking something in and using my medical card the surgeon gave me to use at resturaunts but that didn't help much at the theater!! the fruit and chesses are very good.

So far I have tried 3 chewables - - - blah blah blah!!! so, I ordered 2 gummies , yeah, that didn't work either. They just gummed up in my teeth. Did not dissolve well at all and the taste was awful! Sorry to say, I got all from this site. I do need to say that I am on 'Raglan' for excessive nausea and vomiting with just small amounts of food, so my Dr thinks I have some scar tissue in my esophagus from my hiatial hernia repair that was done when my sleeve was completed. I have an upper GI scheduled DEC 8th to determine. SO.........long story short my Dr has approved me to try capsules early (instead of waiting until 6 months per his time line). What are others issues?

Post-op: How long until you ate real food?
Fibro Queen replied to Rose400491's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
been moving to "real foods" since about 3 days prior to Thanksgiving - - 'thankfully!!! -
I have been up since 2:30, after another bad evening of nausea. This has been going on for 4 nights. Thankfully I haven't lost my night meds, but I always fear I will. This all started after a night of actually losing my meds. and the protein I had taken with them. I am up to the "Mechanical" stage of diet effective today. I am hoping this will help. I broke down yesterday and had 6 whole little 'oyster crackers' I needed something to help with the nausea and I needed some crunch. These little crackers I was able to eat until they were nothing but mush in my mouth, so I pray they didn't hurt me. But, I have reached the point of "WHAT THE HECK HAVE I DONE TO MYSELF??? I don't care about the weight I've lost. I don't care that my Drs all told me that I needed the surgery or I would be dead within 5 years. I just want to go back to the way I was, or at least jump ahead about 3 months because where I am right now STINKS!! I don't know if the Fibro is making this recovery harder. I don't know if all my additional meds are making it harder. I don't know if this is the norm for 3 to 4 week recovery period. I am thankful for a good supportive husband, but I need to hear from others going through it. Also, suggestions on a vitamin please. I am not tolerating mine and having to take 4 times a day is not good.

no energy and alot of weakness
Fibro Queen replied to hoot temple's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I realize these are older posts, but they give me hope that I am not alone in feeling so tired all the time at weeks 3 and 4 in my recovery - - - - I am 59, with Fibro, chronic fatigue and chronic pain. I knew it would take time, and my Dr told me it would take longer for me then most of his patients (which I thought was wonderful of him) but I was beginning to think, "What the heck man"?!?!?! Now with the holidays approaching, I am going to be toast all season! -
Thoughts on Protein Powders (Premier, Unjury, etc.)
Fibro Queen replied to ToughButFair's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't tolerate any of them! They all give me the steadies with the bathroom, which is not good. So I am very short on protein right now. 😱 -
I buy Wholy Guac and add some of my own spices to it as well, like cilantro and smokey paprika, and garlic powder. sometimes even just a little bit of sour cream but don't tell anyone - it's our secret!
-
I get pinto beans in my pureed stage. May have to make along with my beans so I feel like I get "beans and cheese"
-
Can I puree anything and would it be acceptable?
Fibro Queen replied to GeTnBackuP's topic in Purée (stage 2)
Check with your Dr. seems they each have very specific idea's regarding what is right and what is not. While I cannot have any citric fruit (oranges, grapefruit, lemons, etc); tomatoes, V8 Juice, or anything along this line for almost 6 months I have noticed that some from this site have had some of these items as early as day 2. I would hesitate to have puree a soup with tomatoes if your Dr does not want you having them for several more months. We have to be careful with the slightest item, food - movement - medication - whatever in these early months as the sack inside continues to heal -
Meguone, I hear ya! I mean we would need like 36-40 hours a day to get in the amount of liquids that the docs want us too! And I love the caramel shake too btw . But......when said shake give you the steadies with the bathroom, and milk products leave you weary, you and coffee are no longer friends and water has long since left you feeling blah what does that leave you? I have actually found "Protein2O" It is a 15gram protein water with no carbs, 3 flavors at Sams and some convenience stores (in my area Caseys). I like both the Berry and Coconut. Might give you an option.

Hiatial Hernia Repair and now have reflux pain
Fibro Queen posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been on Protonix for my Hiatial Hernia . It has always worked, controlled the re-flux, and given me peace. Then I had surgery. My gastric sleeve and hiatial hernia repair at the same time. And ever since then I have had re-flux. I don't know if it's because I don't know when I am full, or because I am truly suffering. -
Did your Dr tell you No STRAWS? No SODA?
Fibro Queen posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I'm 2 weeks out on my sleeve surgery, and sure enough the pain is pretty much over and the craving thoughts for a Sprite have returned. What I fear the most is the weekend of Nov 9th when my brother-in-law gets married and we join the entire family in Dallas and eat out alot. This means BBQ and Mexican. I know I can handle eating ok. But drinking without a straw or having Sprite! Oh My Goodness!! I may be in trouble. What have others of you been told by your Dr's? -
I can’t meet my protein requirements
Fibro Queen replied to Rose400491's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 10/17. Every protein shake and powder gave me issues. And Just couldn't deal with them. In the hospital I wasn't going to be calling for a nurse for diarrhea and be caught without their attention. At home I just didn't want to deal either. I would attempt to do a smoothie every other day with frozen vanilla yogurt, Greek yogurt, mango ice, (allergic to bananas) and V-Core vanilla bean protein powder, 1/2 scoop gives 15 g protein. By the time I was done, a 4oz glass was about 20-25g protein, and I could probably not have any issues if like I said I did this every other day. On pureed now.
