Hi Im from Manchester and was banded in April '06. There is a big UK site for all WLS at wlsinfo.org.uk

Why did you choose a midband?

Hi Pam:) Yes Ive read of your erosion on another thread and Im really sorry that its happened to you, it must be terrible:( That study was conducted in Lyon and all bands were fitted by Dr Frering so it a true comparison and very recently published at the Obesity Forum. I think I asked on another thread but your siggie says you had a 6ml fill at surgery which seems odd as the manufacturer recommend no fill for 4/6 weeks post-op I might be reading it wrong and if so I apologise, but if I am reading it right do you have no "come-back" to your surgeon if he went against the manufacturers recommendations:confused: I could be way off the mark here - just a thought:) Best wishes Delly

Hi from the UK

Hi Im also from the UK. Im in Manchester. I had a band fited in Lyon with Dr Frering in April 2006. Good luck Delly
7. Hi Im really sorry to hear of your erosion and surprised because its a midband and its so unusual. I noticed from your siggie that you had a 6ml fill at surgery time which seems a little odd? I did a lot of research before I was banded so know that MID the manufacturers do not recommend any fill until 6 weeks post op and then the max they recommend for the first fill is 4ml. Or am I reading it wrong:confused:

Why did you choose a midband?

Hi I did a lot of research into the different types of bands and chose the MIDband as it had the highest EWL figures and the lowest complication rates. Here is a study showing the complication rates. Gastric Banding improvement in results : a single centre study of 4019 patients.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> V. From the outset many improvements have been suggested including different bands and methods of placement. Methods. From 1997 to February 2004 4019 gastric bands were placed by the same surgeon. Mean BMI was 44,8 Kg/m2. Historically 3 bands were used : LAPband (n=868), SAGB(n=1386) and MIDband(n=967). Perigastric and pars flaccida approach were both used. Stomach to stomach sutures were not always used. Results: <TABLE class=MsoNormalTable style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none; uk Bansters

Hi Im from Manchester and was banded by Dr Frering in Lyon on 1st April 2006. I have a 9ml MIDband. I have had 2 fills of 2ml and 4ml and I reached my sweet spot at 6ml at about 10 weeks out from surgery. I have lost 5st 3lbs or 73lbs whichever way you do it! Im delighted with my band and my progress I help co-ordinate a support group in the Manchester area and we have over 30 members so I will post up details for that and there is also 3000+ banding members from all over the UK on wlsinfo.org.uk I will post back with full details and address of support group meets - hope some of you can join us:) Best wishes Delly
10. Hi:) I am from Manchester, England I am pre-op MIDband with Dr Vincent Frering in France Scheduled for surgery in March Just wanted to say hello to you all:)
11. Hi Just wanted to let you know that the Bioring band is made by Cousin in France and is commonly referred to as a Cousin band. It is used by Belgian surgeons, one in particular I know of is Chris DeBruyne. Can you not contact your surgeon and ask him for fill providers in your area? If Chris DeBruyne was not your surgeon I feel sure he would be able to help you out. If not then Cousin themselves will have a list of approved/trained professionals in your area. HTH
