Question For Those Who Are Pre-Surgery
sandra305 replied to TessieLoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
NO MORE: shopping in plus size shortness of breath after walking then sitting down night sweats hiding from group pictures double chin high blood pressure wearing jeans over my stomach -
Looking at your stats and i'm interested in your before and after. May you post one?

Oh ok yes I actually use these. Chocolate is my favorite and I put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes to thicken up and tastes like a milkshake. Caramel and bananas and cream are too sweet for me.

What shake is that??

Failing and I haven’t even started
sandra305 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I weight myself and have gained about 13lbs since my first doctors appointment on Sept 26. You guys I feel terrible. This week I started a week early on my preop diet to shed weight faster and get used to having liquids in the first few stages after surgery. Did this happen to any of you? I guess I kept telling myself “oh you’re not gonna be able to eat this again for awhile so just eat it now” and it stuck with me since. I feel so bad -

It's on the 27th of this month. I've started losing some pounds luckily since starting preop diet this week, but it's crazy how food can take over. Definitely seeing a difference in hunger and how it comes from the head rather than the stomach. -

Yeah I think my scale is not accurate because I weighted myself again 5 minutes later and it was downby 3-4lbs. Regardless, I should have not allowed myself to gain weight. Thankfully this preop diet has been having me lose so I should be fine. Just need to learn self control before and after surgery. -

Thank you! Hopefully after this week I notice a difference. I'm day 3 today on preop diet and feel a lot better. -
Good luck!!

You know you lost weight when

I'm sure that happens when you get closer to actual goal. Maybe slight changes here and there to your diet may help and increasing exercise. Do you have a lot of excess skin? -

Halfway through liquid diet from hell
sandra305 replied to Creekimp13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I've been considering on starting the liquid diet (a week) early, too. My surgery date is on the 27th of this month, but I've decided to start a little early to get adjusted and will start on the 4th. Two protein drinks a day and a light meal for supper. I don't want to shock my body and feel like I'm starving itself if I suddenly go to liquids. Hope this will be beneficial! -

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!
sandra305 replied to AshleyMidwife's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wish this topic would be more active lol. I'm 5'11 and highest weight was about 266; on the verge of high blood pressure and high sugar levels, always tired, no energy. I've been overweight my entire life and every time I lose, I gain back. I've tried all diets, lifestyle modifications, gym, crossfit, diet pills...nothing. The most I lose is 20lbs and then it creeps back on. As much as I was against surgery, it was my last resort and I'm scheduled for 12/27/17. I'm ready for the ultimate lifestyle change of being healthy and genuinely happy. My main goal is to be in onederland! First small goal would be 215, then 185, and the ultimate goal would be 160!! I have not seen any of those numbers since elementary school. -
First appt was 09/26 with my surgeon and then had my second one on 10/31 to go over my results from tests and then they let me choose an opening for surgery in Dec. which I chose 12/27. So all together, about 3 months (up to surgery).
-
I would call and ask. I was given a soap and I am supposed to start using it the last 3 days before surgery.
-
Now that my surgery date is set in stone, I'm beginning to think "what if this doesn't work?" Like I spend a chunk of money on a procedure and it doesn't do what I hoped it would. Maybe I'm just overthinking and I'm just so used to myself not ever losing the amount of weight I wished to. It's hard to think of an operation like VSG to actually work when I've been overweight my whole life. I just don't want to screw myself over. Have any of you been in this mood?

Scared this won't work
sandra305 replied to sandra305's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! This is exactly why I opted for the surgery as well- due to so many failed attempts of trying on my own. Surgery was my last resort, but I saw so many people with high success rates and even better happiness. That's exactly what I want. I just want to be healthy, look better, feel better, and not worry about future health risks. -
Anyone in their 20's have vsg
sandra305 replied to Megan Lundquist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 21, going on 22 Dec. 11 and will have my op on Dec. 27. Decided I was tired of trying all other regimes that didn't work for me and opted for VSG. I'm excited, yet nervous about post-op and how well I'll be during pre-op liver shrinking diet. If you feel that vsg will be a great fit for you, just do it!! -
I also just got confirmation on a surgery date of 12/27!! sooo excited for this new journey.
-
OMG I keep saying this every time I indulge into sweets!! "Well, eat it now since your body can't have this right after surgery". It's like what the heck!! My brain does not want to stick to my plan of starting post-op diet so it's easier to lose the weight instead of sudden change. WHY!!!!
-
Ok that doesn't sound like a bad idea! Thanks
-
I was thinking the same thing. Are we required to lose weight before surgery or does it depend on our surgeon? It's been so hard for me to stay on track. Hopefully once I start my liquid diet, it'll be easier since it'll be a routine. Is anyone else like this? LOL
