    Endometriosis & Weight Loss

Sorry for the late response. My weight loss has been slow but steady. I too, packed on the pounds after my hysterectomy. Don’t get me wrong, I was overweight to start with but after the hysterectomy my weight gain went to a whole different level. Good luck with your VSG. July is almost here!!!

    We need Fat Moderators

I think threads on BMI’s are helpful. I am only 5’0 tall so my pre-op weight is some people’s goal weight. There is a significant difference when someone is 5’11 weighing 275 lbs and say, someone who is 5’0 weighing 275 lbs. just saying I find it’s helpful to look for individuals with similar BMI’s than how much they weigh.

    Endometriosis & Weight Loss

I had severe endometriosis which resulted in a total hysterectomy 4 years ago. My sleeve was done in Nov 2017 and I haven’t had any problems. Before my sleeve I would have random abdominal pain but I haven’t had any since. Hope all goes well for you!
  7. I had terrible GERD before surgery and my surgeon said he would prefer to do bypass because that pretty much cures GERD. However, my insurance wouldn’t cover bypass initially. It covered VSG and then if I still had bad GERD it would cover bypass. So, my Dr said he would do the sleeve as long as I understood that I may still need a revision to bypass if the GERD was worse. Thankfully, I am 4 months out and no GERD!!

    Drinking Pains

I had the same thing for about the first four weeks. If I took too big of a sip of water it was worse. Like everyone says small sips..Hang in there it will get better

Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

I am 5’0 tall and my Dr said my weight should get down to 110lbs. So, I looked it up on the BMI chart and it is right in the middle of the healthy BMI range. Vsg on 11/24/2017 Hw 189lbs CW 140
  10. Clusie on YouTube, she’s hilarious and very informative
  11. Hi everyone, I am about 8 weeks post op VSG. I feel great and I am losing weight. However,I went for an appointment at 6 weeks and asked how many calories I should be consuming and he said no counting calories and that my priority should be to eat 60 grams of protein a day. I worry about limiting my calories and messing up my metabolism more than it is. Is anyone else out there not counting calories?
  12. Yes, he said if I want to use the non chewable ones I have to take a separate calcium citrate.
  13. I am 7 weeks post op vsg and I had the same problem with the chewables. My Dr. switched me to regular Bariatric non chewable ones but I have to take an additional calcium citrate with it. It is definitely better than the chewables!

    TMI question

I didn’t have any problems on my pre-op diet. However, for about a week after surgery it was bad! I only had one accident where I didn’t make it to the bathroom and it was in the hospital. All I have to say is never trust a fart [emoji16]

Clusie is my favorite. She’s hilarious and honest about Bariatric surgery
  17. Sorry about this long post...I have an annual pass for Disney and the eating is going to be tough unless you have reservations at restaurants. Dine in restaurants have more options such as soup, etc. Quick dine options have mostly sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs that type of food. I would definitely have protein shakes on hand and plenty of water. This time of year usually has beautiful weather with high temps around 80 but it will be cooler in the evening. There will be a LOT of walking involved, so if you aren’t feeling so good I would rent a wheelchair. They are available to rent at the front of the park. For rides, I would go with the People Mover, Carousal of Progress, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Small World, Ariel’s ride (can’t remember the name of it) and Peter Pan. I was going to say Haunted Mansion but there is one part where you ride backwards and it might press on your stomach too much and Buzz lightyear is a little jerky. The decorations are beautiful! It’s my favorite time of year to visit the Magic Kingdom. Hope you have a fantastic time!

    Thanking Nurses

I am a nurse and a simple note of thanks makes it all worth it. Yes we love food. I obviously did, lol. But if you can send a note and put the names of the nurses on it they will appreciate it.
  19. I had a small hernia, about 4 cm’s and I also suffered from gastritis. My surgeon told me that he always fixes a hernia, no matter what the size, when he is performing the vsg. I am 2 weeks post op now. Other than some extreme nausea the first 24 hours I am doing well. Good luck!
  20. I was hoping I could get some advice. I am 3 days post op gastric sleeve. I assume it’s normal that I am very lethargic, but I was wondering if any of you used unflavored protein powder in your broth? I was thinking that maybe some additional protein would help with my lethargy. My Dr’s office is closed now otherwise I would call them and ask. I am on a clear liquid diet until Saturday...

    November sleevers

I am so excited but a little bummed. I got my date, yay! But, it’s for the day after Thanksgiving [emoji20]. I am a nurse and have every other Thanksgiving off and of course I have this year off. And I will be on the clear liquid diet for the entire week. I am almost considering working it for another co-worker so I don’t have to watch everyone eat but I am a little worried that I may be irritable from the clear liquids [emoji51].
