Hungry but cant eat much
Yolanda Smith replied to PaulaAW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try adding the recommended protein powders, the more of it you put into your diet the less you'll feel hungry. Increase your intake of water and your walking.. The walking will help ease the mind as it gives you sometjing to do and help with taking some weight off along with the water intake....as long as youre getting in your protein dont worry about how much youre eating because at this point of time you can only get in about three table spoons of food..... Your body has just been through a major surgery so everything seems out of wack mentally asnd physically each day tell yourself and know it will get better only you can do this better than asny doctor or nutrionist...All is well and you will be one to relate later on and encourage another on their journey just as Ive done☺️☺️☺️☺️ -

Yolanda Smith replied to ILOVETEXAS210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its really hard to tell right now I'm 5 weeks post op. I mean with all the new pain and experience that came after surgery! However when I began to start walking I feel pain in lower back, right hip pain that has me limping knee pain and foot heal pain.. I'm still hoping that it is to soon to tell as it maybe I need more weight off, something I will discuss with my surgeon my next visit for this was my main purpose in having the sleeve. I WAS 278 LBS ORIGINALLY BEFORE SURGERY 218 and next visit I will know where I sta d at my weight but I believe I need more weight off to feel true relief! -

Constipation
Yolanda Smith replied to amandawood1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is a one time thing but remember because of the vitamins and pain medication you're going to be constipated so I allow myself go five days and then use one some weeks I had a bowel movement on my own so I only used three suppositories overall so far and you might want to add more fluid and more walking to aid you in a BM! -
I didn't like anything either except the pourable beans in gravy the creams of soup and thin mash potatoes which is not on the list but my favorite I'm very careful in making it thin close to portable but more mushy ....in fact I'm one week away from moving on to the must foods I'm glad on the fact of mash potatoes because brother pourables Ugggggggh

You can try and keep a cup of chip ice with you for the ice stays on the tongue longer until it melts bringing some relief I felt better doing this!

Can’t stop crying
Yolanda Smith replied to Missytee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree on the statement that Buffalo Bill has made you know it can be a mental situation for friends and family members too so you just can't lye there and not say what's needed or what's bothering you. Even though you decided to make the change for the better they're still grasping on the fact well why she have to do it this way and put herself in so much pain I thought she was ok the way she was and now she's helpless.....so yes talk to him about it explains again the longer life expectancy of why you're going through with this and how you need now so much encouragement and support through the process....you may want to ask how do he feel about the whole situation just to get some clearance on what Is it he's really feeling because you have all the answers to his feelings and insecuritie but you need to talk it out. If he comes up with you shouldn't have done the surgery you say well its already done so can I please have your support and from there you should know if you need to move on and do this alone........ain't no need to have someone there just looking at you go through with this.........ask someone on this support online group if someone is nearby you who will become a post bariatric pal with you share address share numbers its the best thing because you'll have the same experience. My husband didn't want me to have the surgery after explaining the better long life expectancy he agree but still was a very slow supporter in the beginning but he's on board now praying and supporting me as much as possible we are now taking walks together but when he wasn't fully there I'm glad I met an older lady at one of the Bariatric groups she had her surgery before mine and I asked her if I could call her to see how she makes out after her surgery she has a son but I felt like she needed more support so we switch number and I kept in touch and she kept in touch after my surgery.....I'm glad I did because it filled in the gap of my not so sure husband at the time who was stuck a little bit......... but talk it out with your boyfriend and find someone else who experienced the surgery as well ........ you'll be just fine may God bring you enlightenment in this journey good luck God Bless xoxo -

Nausea after surgery?
Yolanda Smith replied to jcb123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its the worst because if you can't hold nothing down you can easily get dehydrated with this type of surgery. Usually its from the anesthesia or your pain meds that can bring on nausea or vomiting well at least my experience and it last about three to four day for me ...I did have to go back to the hospital for a couple hours for IV because I was slightly dehydrated from not keeping nothing down....They have medicine for nausea but keep in mind it won't work if its your pain medicine thats making you nauseated again at least this was my experience. -
Looking for relief in my pain
Yolanda Smith replied to Yolanda Smith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi and thank you hmills653 Aspiring Evangelist !!!! Doctor had previously prescribed me some fleet suppositories I still go once a week. Maybe I need the enema! The pain medicine taken is liquid Tylenol which supposed to suppress pain for 8 hours it don't maybe 1 hour. I wait about two hours after intake of food before lying down but I didn't know it was for drinking also so need to try that as well......I.Called my surgeon office this morning because I cried about it for the first time last night so just to see if there maybe more relief for this but your response brings a light of hope thank you -

I walk eating and sipping slow taking reflux meds. and gas x warm heating pad over stomach ginger tea pain medicine and nothing is working......Is it a healing process of the stomache or just trap gas still and what advice do you have to overcome the pain......my surgen told me about a week and half back that some experience this early on and I'm still at the early stage to hold on it gets better but it's so uncomfortable and how much longer do I have to wait for relief??? -
