    1 day post op

This time yesterday I was arriving at the hospital. I was so nervous i threw up, multiple times, once in the or room. But my team was amazing and kept me calm. They have my pain very well managed. Some nauseous here and there. Mostly with the pain medication. Walked quite a lot yesterday which really does help with the gas pain. Going to do a barium swallow test this morning and hoping to switch over to drinking fluids! So grateful for this whole process. I really feel this is going to be great for me! Best of luck to everyone who going to be getting their surgery soon and to those who had surgery, I hope you all are doing well. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    What did I do?!?

I'm a little surprised they released you at all as well. My doctor was about to keep me another night if I couldn't keep liquids down. But I did find I have to be sitting straight up or standing to drink anything at all or it comes right back up. I'm hoping you get better soon! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

It's been a little rough. I haven't really been hungry, but definitely had the head hunger. But I'm almost there. I am pretty sick of them today, but I'm also super nervous for tomorrow, so that may be the case. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Home workouts and yoga

Have you checked out youtube at all?
  9. Yes. It has been rough. Mine is pretty strict, 4 shake and two bars with either a banana or one cup of fat free milk. I can have sugar free jello and pops. But I definitely am feeling it in my clothing. How is yours going?! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Pre-op diet not as strict

I really think just the program and the preference of the surgeons. You are very lucky. Mine, I was required to buy through my program. It's all Bariatric Advantage products. I'm allowed 4 shakes and two bars daily, except the day before surgery I am not to have the bars and to replace them with shakes. The only other food allowed is one banana or 1 cup of fat free milk daily and sugar free jello/pops. Best of luck to you.
  12. I agree limiting carbs really does help. Especially when you do get to the liquid diet phase (I'm in that phase now). I really didn't have headaches or anything by eliminating these foods prior. Also, it's good to hear that you are in therapy as well. Therapy has really helped me - my therapist recommended "The Self-Esteem Workbook" to read and honestly its been helping me work on thought patterns I have. I tend to stress eat or eat when I get bored so it was something I began to recognize and have been cutting it out slowly. Make sure you are tracking all your foods. I noticed I would eat more when I wasn't paying attention. I also try to keep busy. You sound like you are making really good steps in the right direction. Just remember no one is perfect. Best of luck to you!

    November sleevers

I really think it will depend on your surgeon. My sister had her surgery in August this year, but was originally scheduled in July, but she was postponed due to an upper respiratory infection. But I would check with your surgeon too. I really hope you feel better asap!

    Lifestyle Change Support!

Mine is four protein shakes a day (mix with water) and two protein bars - they are purchased from my doctors office. I can have one banana or one 8 oz glass of milk. I also can have sugar free jello or pops once a day as well. Today is day one for me. So far not so bad. I the medifast diet for 3 months at one point so I figured it would be similiar minus the one lean and green meal. But it is necessary for the surgeon to be able to move your liver out of the way at have better access, so it's worth the work. My nutrionists told me to think of it as a perscription and less of a diet (it helps a little). But I do understand about the lean cuisines - some days I don't know what I'd do without them. I have two kids at home too so sometimes meal prepping was the hardest part for me. Good Luck!!!
  15. Good Morning! I have my date now, set for Nov 21. But it did take some time for me to get my date. The insurance company initally rejected the claim and requested more information about my 3 month diet. My doctor's office ended up having me call my insurance company to get some more clarification why they were not approving the claim and it was resolved pretty quickly after that. It never hurts to call your insurance company to gain some clarification and get the process moving! Best of luck to you!

    Difficult journey

Sending good thoughts and prayers! I saw my sister have her surgery delayed and how upsetting it can be. Just think, they want you to be as healthy as you can be to have a sucessful surgery! Best of luck to you!

    Lifestyle Change Support!

If you are still hungry you can always add more protein to your snacks. I didn't usually eat too much fruit, I'm just not a sweets fan but the occassional apple or banana work for me. But I always kept almonds at my desk - no salt. I'd count out 14 (that was half a serving of one ounce) and snack on them. They almost always helped hold me over. Also, I love cheese. So, I would get low fat cheese sticks and have those as well. Try not to have too many of the lean cuisines. They have a lot of sodium in them. I found myself more hungry with them (I think it was really thirst though). Cutting out the soda and coffee now is awesome as well! It was hard for me but I'm one my first day of my two week liquid diet and I get surgery on the 21st. I'm so glad I won't be going through caffine withdraws and this liquid diet at the same time! Best of luck to you!

    November sleevers

Mine is scheduled for the 21st. I'll be right behind you. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. Good luck and just take it one day at a time!
  19. I really do sleep so much better with it. And I am so much more awake in the morning! I also slept with my mouth open, so it was something I had to think about before going to sleep, but I did get used to it. I really think the first couple weeks are just getting used to the machine. I don't even think about it anymore. But my pulmonary specialist did say there could be a high chance of not needing it anymore after I lost a significant amount of weight. So hopefully the machine will be gone soon! My surgery is Nov. 21st (eta 3 weeks). When is yours?

    PCP discouragement

I also had a very bad experience discussing the sleeve surgery with my previous PCP. I literally left in tears. The doctor was raising her voice at me every time I would ask her why she did not think it was a good idea and all she would respond with "you don't need it." My almost one year old daughter was with and she started crying because of the way she was yelling at me. But, since my previous PCP was unwilling to even have a discussion (I even tried to follow up with with office multiple times). I found myself a new PCP. I honestly think it is about perpective and education when it comes to recommending bariatric surgery. I'm so sorry to hear you had a difficult visit. But maybe when you follow up you can help educate your doctor a little more. If not, there are other doctors - I don't say that lightly either because I really don't think shopping around for doctors is entirely right, but you know yourself better than anyone and if you think this is in your best interest then you should find a doctor to support you. I really wish you the best of luck!
  21. I just received a CPAP machine about 2 months ago and it was a little rough at first. I felt like I was suffocating from the machine blowing air all the time and if you open your mouth all the air rushes out your mouth. But I have been using it for two months straight and I never realized how tired I was all the time and honestly I sleep so much better and I barely notice it. What setting did the respiratory therapist change the lowest setting to be? Mine is at a 4. How long have you been trying it for?

    November sleevers!

Another November 21st buddy! I've been trying to get ready for post sugery by making some soups and broths, but work has been extremely busy this time of year. My pre op diet will start on Nov 7th - I meet with the dietician on Nov 6th and they go over everything. They also require you purchase all the pre op shakes/bars from them - honestly it will make my life so much easier this way. But I'm definitely counting down the days! For the hospital, I'm not going to take too much, I'm sure I'll be pretty out of it most of the time. But I'll take some comfy clothing and maybe my tablet. Best of luck to you!
  23. Good Morning All, I'm about a month away from my surgery! Now, I'm a planner so I like to have things ready to go and I understand this is going to be a take it one day at a time sorta thing because my body may or may not like certain things after surgery. But I have a fairly busy life; young kids, full time job, etc. Well I have the next couple weekends off and I'd like to make my life a little bit easier for when I return to work after surgery. I'll probably still be in a mushy food stage when I return to work and wanted to make some soups/other foods ahead of time and freeze them, but I'm not sure if it will be worth it. Just wanted to get some thoughts of those who have been through this stage. Thanks!
  24. Thank you all for your posts! I think i'll get some soups ready but not too much, I'm worried about not liking the types of soups I like now after surgery.
  25. Good Morning Everyone! We are getting so close to November! Wishing everyone the best!
