Hi, the FB group is called 2018 Bariatric bad-asses. It's a closed group so you should be able to find it and ask to join. Let me know!

Are you still in hospital? There should be a no pain policy... Can you ask for pain relief?
-
Yes! I'm with you. I also have my vsg on 16th. Can't wait. Suitcase is packed, everything is ready. Now just the waiting. And then a new life begins! Total reset. What a fantastic opportunity! Looking forward to hear how you do, and your progress after! Christine x

Congratulations! As for what to say to people, I'm telling them that I will have a hiatial hernia operation (which is true just not the whole truth) and that the doctor is putting me on a very strict diet afterwards (true) and then once I start eating again, I'll tell them I was so happy to have lost weight that I'm continuing to be careful (true)! My operation is next Tuesday 16/1.

Glad you're getting it done! I'm one day behind you in Switzerland. Good luck! Let us know how it went, how you feel, what you're doing.

Hi, my favorite no-taste, no-smell, doesn't show in liquids is this one...I got it on Amazon. 11g protein for 12g weight (one scoop). So it becomes easy to get your daily proteins!
-
I'll be thinking of you. I'm not far behind. 1/16! Stay Zen and keep your eyes on the goals!
-
Your own pillow, t-shirts and track suit bottoms, non slip socks, sleep mask, ear plugs
-
Congratulations! Keep it up!😊😊

Fabulous! Great that you are taking it all and enjoy the time of change! I'll do the same. I have my own company so can work from home - first day at clients is end Feb, so I'm giving myself space, though will work from home as soon as I'm up to it.
-
I'm also 1/16! And excited!
-
Got it now. Thanks.

Well, I'm stretching it a bit with what I say about the diet... But people don't tend to know what hiatial hernia operations entail so they take what I say at face value. And I can always say my dietician wanted me to be extra careful [emoji56] I agree with you in creating strong good habits in the first year. Then they are easier to continue.

Hi Engelyn, I understand your fears. I have some of the same especially around alcohol restriction and people knowing. I'm taking this as an opportunity to stop alcohol consumption for good as I know it's one of the main things that gets me to put on weight and I'm better off without it. Once I start socializing again, I'll be drinking water with lemon and graduating to sparkling water with lemon. I've bought different types of citrus essential oils and 1 drop in 1 glass water makes it taste great. I've only told my very best friends that I'm getting a sleeve. Everyone else I've told I'm being operated for a hiatial hernia and that the doctor is putting me on a liquid only diet afterwards (true!) Graduating to smoothies and finally after 1 month, easy solids (true!). I say that I'll most likely lose some weight and that this is an added bonus! So, when people see me eating less and losing they won't be surprised. Then I'll just say that I'm taking the opportunity to continue eating well and losing (true!). As for social life afterwards, I'll still be going out but eating less and mainly proteins and drinking water. The main thing is being out with friends and socializing, enjoying their company. People don't really notice what you drink as long as you have a glass in front of you. I'll also be meeting people more for coffee and teas. I hope my thoughts help you in some way.

I'm getting ready. It's in less than 2 weeks. Am cleaning out my freezers and fridge to keep only useful stuff.. Takes time. And getting ready with extra protein powder, collagen which has no taste and amazing amounts of protein - and of bee pollen to add to later smoothies. The powdered collagen is amazing. I tried 2 tsp in a cup of espresso coffee and no taste difference. You can add it anywhere and it raises your protein effortlessly.

I'm going to continue my multi vitamins I the morning and crush them, as well as powdered magnesium which I dissolve in water every evening. Also omega 3, calcium, and Biotin for my hair. I don't take calcium with the multi vits, but later in the day.. I have osteopenia so have to keep my intake of calcium etc. up.

Same here. I live in Switzerland. I'm getting the sleeve on 1/16 and there's no pre-op diet. Just the day before, apparently. I'll talk with my surgeon next Monday when they open again after the holidays to check.
