you don't HAVE to do the pre-op diet. not like they won't still operate on you.

I'm not doing well. I've cheated on my pre-op diet everyday. I feel guilty about it, but after struggling with food all my life, I find it really ironic that I'm expected to go solid free for 10 days. Oh well, hasn't happened yet, and I'm scheduled for Tuesday the 10th. Nutritionist told me that they would still go through with surgery but that I would find it more difficult after surgery. Nothing about this has been easy, and I'm still considering backing out.

I'm self pay in Mexico, so I don't need to worry about insurance. And of course it's emotional eating...I have BED.

When did you return to work? How was it going back? Did you wish you had taken more time? Less time? I'm a bit concerned about returning to work after the sleeve surgery. I am a middle school teacher and am worried I will not have the energy to stand all day and deal with a hundred 12-year-olds! However, it is difficult to be out for long periods of time, and as it stands now, I will only take one week after surgery. My principal is understanding and if I need another week, she will not fight me on it, but it's hard to miss that much instruction and prepare so much for a sub.

I will! When is your date? I have a friend who had hers done by Dr. Illan in May and she was VERY pleased and is doing well.

I am a teacher, too, and am concerned about going back after one week. As I'm sure you can relate, being out for long periods of time is really difficult...losing instruction time, prepping for subs, worrying about destruction of the classroom, haha... I just don't see me feeling comfortable mentally taking more days off...but I also worry that physically I will struggle, too.

October 10th with Dr. Illan in Tijuana. I'm having mixed emotions over it.
