  1. I am the opposite, when I go TOO low carb I just stall for days, I need to have a small amount of starchy carbs daily to keep the scale going. Pre surgery I was like you though!
  2. 43 down today since surgery on 6/18. I have had the flu and have been sick for over a week now, and it has been HARD. My appetite has been just non existent so I have been eating small amounts of whatever food appeals at the moment. I haven't gone off the rails or anything but I have definitely been eating a bit more carbs than before and to my surprise, the scale approved!
  3. I've been walking about 45 minutes a day starting immediately after surgery. My surgeon has cleared me to get back to the gym and start with weights next week (week 7). My entire bariatric team encourages us to get active ASAP so I wonder if that book is outdated.
  4. I've been drinking full caf since day 7 and I'm fine, if I'm feeling virtuous, I add in some protein shake haha
  5. I am allergic to pecans so I always forget to tell people about those, but I have heard good things!
  6. Almond flour, melted butter, a dash of cinnamon and if I am feeling extra, a tiny bit of SF Torani (s'mores flavor works well here). I usually don't sweeten it if it's just for home though! I also ONLY do the crust at the bottom and don't take it up the sides.
  7. My homemade cheesecakes are also QUITE low in sugar as we like them to be nice and tart and just put fresh fruit on top. I think if you're trying to eat lower carbs then there are MANY worse "cheats" than a cheesecake, the higher fat and protein to carb content (assuming it's lower sugar of course) make it a much better option than, say, a piece of chocolate cake. If you guys do want to indulge with a cheesecake dessert, it is one of the EASIEST things to make keto. I don't do sugar alcohols though, so mine will also just be .. not AS bad, haha.
  8. My surgeon told me that after I am done healing, nothing is off limits unless it causes me pain, I specifically asked about soda and he allows it. My Nutritionist hates it buuuuut I am for SURE going to have a coke zero in a few weeks haha.

    30-30-30

I am supposed to be 30/30/30 but in reality I am 15/30/30 And no, I do not apply that to liquid meals or protein supplements. I also WILL go over the 30 minute meal time if I NEED to get the entire meal in to meet daily goals, in that case I will eat what I can, wait 15 minutes, eat more, etc until I get the whole portion in. This is usually dinners on days when I was poorly prepared during the day.
  10. I ate 2 multigrain corn chips (Food Should Taste Good Olive chips) yesterday. I am only 4 weeks out so this was a HUGE no-no. It did, however, completely satisfy the need to CRUNCH that had been growing for the last 4 weeks so while I won't repeat it, I don't really regret it. I chewed those chips into oblivion and they didn't hurt, at least!

    Jello

Oh man that sounds delicious! I had to make sure I really mashed the jello up with my tongue before swallowing or I had the same issues in the beginning! Thankfully I only had to do clear liquids for a few days.

    Takis/Spicy Food

Definitely go easy on spice as you add it back in, my tolerance was down to NOTHING in the first few weeks and now a month out I am definitely able to start adding spice back in! And according to my surgeon and nutritionist, if I want to have a treat like a few takis down the line, I definitely can. The goal is to be careful and not let it get out of control and the therapist attached to my program has discussed with me the signs to look out for in regards to a healthy attitude around treats. Don't let the judgey judgersons get you down, @Emersyn ! We all have to do what it takes to make this a successful lifelong change and for some of us that means a taki or two once in a blue moon!

    I miss bread

Pizza? That’s so far off of my list of Foods after the sleeve! I can’t have any bread or grains until I’m 3 months out.

    Fit Bit anyone???

Oh shoot, I forgot I could do the timer!! Thanks for the reminder, @KatallacStrong ! Oh also, @Ylime, the SE is just pretty hahah
  22. So I am 3 weeks post sleeve yesterday and today for lunch I brought some roast beef to roll up with mustard. Without thinking, I used my usual grainy/seedy dijon mustard, you know the kind that is basically ALL seeds? I ate about 1/2 a tsp before I remembered I wasn't supposed to be eating seeds! What are the chances this will get stuck/cause a problem?

    Fit Bit anyone???

@Ylime probably a bit more prone to scratching as it doesn't have the flush face, I got the rose gold and lavender special edition and when the band gets dingy I can just scrub it with soap and a nail brush and get it new looking. I have gotten it muddy gardening and just cleaned the back off with alcohol wipes and it was fine.
  24. @Orchids&Dragons yep! I started "soft" foods this week after purees last week. It's paper thin slices of rare roast, very tender and goes down great! I was able to add soft scrambled eggs in puree phase and had no problems there either. I hate to say it, but I am one of those people that hasn't had a single problem adding new foods, I just have to learn new portions with each new texture. With the new soft foods it's a HARD stop at 2.5 ounces.
