Corliss, would you mind to tell us more about your procedure: Doctor's name, cost, time for recovery, anything you would changed, I am thinking to have it done next year in Mexico during Summer time because I am a Teacher :bored: -
:smile:Allo from the East Cost. I had my lapband in August 08. I lost 60 pound so far. I read diligently all the comments from Canada's banders. I do not feel alone that way. In NB, we have one doc who does banding with a waiting list of 5-6 years. We have a second new doc in Bathurst (Thanks God) for those who need that procedure done faster. Now he is very busy. I choose to selfpaid my procedure in Montreal (Rockland clinic) The best !!! (16 000$) Now, I just want to tell you that for any info about your doctor you go on Browse Doctors | RateMDs.com (Rate my doctor from Gooble) This is a website which rates any doctors of many countries : USA, CANADA.... and it is FREE. So save it in your favorite for now on, and you can check any comments of regular patients like you satisfied or not, about their Doctors. I hope this will help and pass the word. The better we communicate, the better we are informed. Sorry for my English and take care of yourself. Madame Suzanne :bored:

JoannMarie, you got me curious here. What is that 5 day Pouch test?:smile2: I was banded August 08. So far lost 60 lbs and I am happy with what I am today. I am on a plateau since June (172 lbs +- 1 lbs) If I could break it without killing myself with exercises that would be a plus... So what is 5-Day Pouch test thing? ** For all of you reading my message, I really appreciate ALL your comments. I am here by myself (no body to talk about Lapband except my HB). Thank God for the Internet. No matter the distance, I feel warmth from you, my sisters Lapbanders ** sorry for my English, I am French :wink2:** Suzanne -

Clempier, I had my lapband in Montreal, August 26, 08. I lost 60 pds so far. I too love my band. I was wondering, when you see Dr Savoie. could you ask him if he does refill? I need to go in MTL each time (3X) so far. I am due for july 10. I wish I could have it done in NB. Dr Beausoleil is a God here who is way too busy to touch someone like me (selfpaid + having it done in MTL). Just let me know through this blog if he can. I am all alone here in south of NB but I realy enjoy read all these messages across Canada and USA. Glad that you are doing good ::grouphug: Madame Suzanne -

Oregondaisy you said <With the 5 day pouch test you do 2 days liquid protein, 2 days soft protein, things like tuna, then one day hard protein like chicken. No carbs.> What is that pouch test is for? Madame Suzanne -
Hi all, :smile2:I am from NB but I was born in St-Hyacinthe. I went to Montréal for my Band on August 08 at the Rockland Clinic. That Clinic ROCK !!! I had Dr Henri Atlas. He was assisted by Dr Garneau that day. So I was in good hand. To this point I lost 60 pounds. I feel great and I do not regret to drive 10 hours for the surgery. I paid 16 000$ so what? A car plus maintenance is more expensive  I had so far 2 refills at Dr Atlas Office (no need to go to hospital) It goes well each time and it is not painful either. Here in NB we only have ONE surgeant (Dr Beausoleil) about 6-8 yrs of waiting. So my decision was easy. If you want to know more about any doctors, go on Rate my doctor.com and you select Country, province, last name and Tadammm you can read what people said about your doctor. Anyway this is my band aventure. I am feeling alone here in NB but I read everything on this wonderful website. This creates an easy way of communicating among ourselves and I like that contact. Sorry for my english I was born in prov. of Québec where most of my life I lived . Take of yourself and your band Madame Suzanne :laugh:

Dr. Beausoleil (Moncton N.B.)
madamesuzanne replied to sherrylynn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bonjour Clempier, thank you to let me know about New doctor Savoie. I have checked his rating on Browse Doctors | RateMDs.com and he seems to be a very good doctor. Do you know if he does filling too? Next month, I am going to see my doc Henri Atlas in Montréal. I hope I will have my first filling and then be able to have it done in Moncton or Bathurst if possible. He has talked about that when I saw him on the 26 of August. You know what? My son and daughter went to BHS for 2 1/2 yrs when we were living Caraquet. After that, we moved in Campbellton for 7 yrs. I was teaching for District 15, now I am teaching for district 6 here in Rothesay. This is a small world. I am wishing you best of luck Clempier. Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving and I am very thankful to have my lapband now. It is worth the 16 K that I paid in Montréal. Let me know how you are doing Clempier. Best Regards, Madame Suzanne :smile2: -

Hi Geneviève, Coincidence.... I graduated from U of Moncton in 1997 in BED. I am a French Immersion Teacher for District 6. We live in Hampton. As you know a doctor who does lapband surgery is so rare in the Maritime. Dr Beausoleir of George Dumont do not take any patient unless you are half dead!. So I choose to pay and go to Montréal (being born in St-Hyacithe area). I will see my doctor next month for my first fill.... I am still loosing slowly but my scale makes me smile now. What about you, when did you graduate? Do you work in your field? Take care ! Madame Suzanne :smile2:
-
Oupps.... I mean I will have my Post-op appointment.... Sorry
-
Thank you Geneviève for the information. I will keep his name. I have my pre-opt appointment with Dr Atlas at the end of October. At that time, I will probably need my 1st fill. So far so good. I am loosing slowly since I am back to school. My appetite is not realy back yet. How are you doing? Did you have your first filling? Madame Suzanne

HI everyone. welcome in the Slow Losers Section:)..... I am one too. Hey! we should have a Slow Losers Group or NEW Thread call FOR SLOW LOSERS! When I read all the people losing and losing.... not for me. I am 54 yrs young, I was 225 before op (August 26) and arriving at home 3 days later I was at 218. Now 15 days later.... I am at 214. It means I only lost 11 pounds total including the surgery. I do walk 45 min every day, and follow protein, shake and mushy diet. This week I am stuck at 214. This October will be one year that I don't have my periods. I was thinking that it is because of my hormones and getting older. I am discouraged. I thought that it would be so easy ! but NO !:rolleyes2: What is >too much loosing> ? and what is <not enough loosing>? I think my band is not working after all... and it cost me 16 000$.... What do I do wrong? Madame Suzanne

Hi SunFlower, :rolleyes2: I hope you are still loosing,,,, in my case I don't !! I was 225 before op ( August 26 ) and arriving at home 3 days later ( 2 days of driving remember we live in New Brunswick) I was at 218. Now 15 days later af I am at 214 .... so discouraging. I know a lot of people on Lapband loose more and more then I. For the Rockland Clinic = They Rock ! On August 26, I arrived at 9:45 and 10:15 the Op started. No waiting and zap I was asleep. Good good personals there. However the surgery took 2 1/2 hrs why I don't now. It took me a long time to really wake up. We left the Clinic the same day around 5:00pm. We stayed at the St-Martin Hotel in Laval. Do you know it? Beautiful service there too. My hubby took care of me. I had terrible 2 nights. I vomited twice... well I tried too. We contact the emergency number for the clinic and the nurse Maria (an angel) told us what to check as bad sign. She was also in contact with Dr Garneau. Well no panick, I had a very bad side effect from the anasthesis med. I absorbe fast but cannot get ride of it. I felt druggy for long time. Before leaving Montréal, I bought the Beneprotein and I still have Optifast to put some carburant inside me My energy is almost there now. I am going back to school next week. I am the French immersion Middle school Teacher. I am in touch through phone with a nutritionist from the clinic and with e-mail... bingo I got all the documentations that I need. Well, I am optimist for the rest of the year. I just wish that I could meet people, like a group of lapband people. Here in NB, we are so far away of anything such as this. Thank you Sunflower to talk to me. You are the only one who answer to me and I really appreciate this. In the middle of October I intend to visit Dr Atlas for a refill... I am a bit scared for that part. What about you, did you have your refill yet? Is it include in the price? I am not sure about mine. Sorry for my writing... I am French. Let me know about the lack of 'Service" for your Op. Just curious Lets keep loosing  !!! Madame Suzanne -

Hi I don't know if you already made your choice. I just had my lapband on August 26,08 with Dr Henri Atlas, I know that Dr Garneau was there too to assist him. It was at the Rockland Md and cost $16000. I considere that is it worth it. It is for myself, like a gift to my life. Best of luck ! -
Hi, I was banded on 26th of August at Rockland Medical Clinic in Montréal by Doctor Henry Atlas. !! Everything went very well. We live in New Brunswick and we have onlly ONE doctor for all the Maritime. Dr S Beausoleil in Moncton. Of course do you think he takes somebody with only 40 BMI? Nope. He takes people with grave complication from obesity... so after of 11 hours driving in car, we went twice to Montréal: To meet Dr Atlas and bingo... for the surgery at Rockland Medical Clinic on August 26, 08. Now I love to read all the forums on lapband because I am one of them. God bless all of us who try hard to keep in shape. Madame Suzanne Hampton New Brunswick
