This weekend I went shopping for clothes after yet another purge of the closet. I've gone from a 3XL shirt and 44 pants to a Large shirt and 34 pants! It still feels surreal. I'm 18 lbs from my goal weight and 4 lbs from moving from the obese category to "overweight." I'm down 70 lbs from my 10/16/17 surgery date, and 114 lbs down overall in a year.

Also noted: they recommend sublingual B12. It is a small pill, tastes good.

Your surgeon will take your starting weight as the basis for surgery and they expect you to lose weight prior to, in order to show your commitment to the lifestyle change that is needed post op. Lose all you can now, and stay on your pre op diet.

Congrats to you, that is awesome! I had surgery 10/16, on surgery date I was 283 and was 222 this morning, and highest weight was over 327. That's over 105 lbs lost total and 61 in about 14 weeks. I was a size 44 waist going in, and am down to a 34 or 36 depending on the pant, and from a 3XL shirt to an XL or L shirt now. I still struggle with image and forgetting that I'm now 100lbs lighter. Can I fit in that booth, or sit in that chair? It's not a problem now, but was such a habit of thinking that I am still adjusting. I'm 27 lbs from my initial goal of 195 and hope to hit that by April 1st, and then we'll take it from there to see what a true goal will be. It's funny, I remember talking to my wife and saying that 250 will be a good first start, then 225, and now 195. That goal is near, and it feels great! I agree, best decision I've made. Keep up the good work. -

I've now lost over a 2 month old horse and have my eye on that newborn giraffe. Once I hit that, I'll evaluate and see from there! My initial goal weight of 195 is 28 lbs away and I can see it! -
They don't have enough of the supplements we need post op to suffice (so says my surgeon). I did get confirmation that the Bariatric Choice all in one multi-vitamins would be ok to take. I will need to take the multi vitamin, B1, and B12 in the morning, then 3 more of the multi throughout the remainder of the day. That is 4 chewables (multi vitamin) and two pills to swallow daily. My current is a multi vitamin, B1, B12, D3, 2x Calcium in the morning, 2x Calcium at lunch, multi vitamin and 2x calcium at dinner, then vitamin C and iron before bed. The Citracal calcium pills are like horse pills. I'll give the Bariatric Choice a try.

I'm currently researching the Bariatric Choice all in one vitamin. My Dr mentioned that brand at my last appointment. You would still need to take B1 and B12, but it is only $21.95 for a month's supply.

Here is a before and a current. I'm still early on in my journey, and would like to lose another 40 lbs or so until I hit my "goal weight." My highest was February 2017 at over 327 lbs, and the bottom pictures are of this morning at 226.2 lbs. -
Describe Your Post-Op Pain

I was fortunate to have very little pain associated with the surgery. I stopped taking any pain meds the afternoon of the surgery. I only had some complications with bleeding that would cause me to become light headed, dizzy, and faint when sitting up or standing, so my stay in the hospital was prolonged by two days. Once the bleeding stopped, I was up and moving and ready to go home. -
This is our Goldendoodle we brought home around Christmas. Our boys are totally in love with her.

I have not done the nasal spray or patches as they are not approved by my surgeon as of yet, nor is the Tespo system, which I would really like to try (one shot of juice in the morning and one at night). I have gone out to restaurants quite a bit since surgery, and have done it all from not ordering a thing, to sharing some bites with my wife, to ordering my own plate and taking 80% or more home with me. Most restaurants have something that I can have, at a Mexican food restaurant over the weekend I ordered a chicken enchilada and refried beans. I ate only the chicken out of the enchilada and had some beans. Other places will have chicken breast, fish, etc. that works in my plan. I always go protein first, then veggies, and maybe a couple bites of starch but that is very rare that I get past the protein itself. I have my 3 month check up tomorrow, so I'll be curious to hear what the surgeon has to say.

I'll be 3 months post op tomorrow. Not sure the routine is "normal" and the vitamins are a constant reminder of that. You get used to it, it's just a lot to deal with. Vitamins/calcium in the morning, calcium at lunch, vitamins/calcium at dinner, Vitamin C/Iron before bed...that's my routine.

I know the feeling. Some days the scale is your friend, some days you want to throw it as far as you can.

I'm a little over 12 weeks post op VSG. My starting weight was 283 (HW was 329 so I'm almost at 100 lbs lost) and this morning I'm at 229.6. Started with a 44 waist, 3XL shirt, and now in a 36 and in between a L or XL shirt. I find myself buying clothes more often now (probably more than I should), but something about being able to walk into any store and find clothes that I both like and fit well is something very foreign. Before surgery, I was limited on where I could shop and what I could buy. It's a very strange feeling still, but so very awesome. I'm hoping to get down another 40 lbs or so to 190 by summer. Every day is a new day, and still figuring out the ins and outs of my new stomach. Food intake remains very minimal, but can get liquids down with no problems. I've even had a couple of drinks over the Holidays, which I monitored closely.

Stalls are awful and often times make you question what you are doing wrong. The sooner you realize that it is just part of post op life and to stay on track, the better off you'll be. While you are not losing by the numbers on the scale, you are probably shifting your body around, clothes are fitting more loosely, etc. Just stay the course and keep up the great work. Some days will be better than others. Some days I go up a pound or so, then turn around the next day and be down 2. Use the scale as one tool post op, not the end all be all.

I'd go 90 at the lowest, 95 if possible. This is what my surgeon recommended. Red meat isn't sitting very well with me yet, but I have had it in moderation

Week 3 after sleeve - weight loss slowing

search the forums for the "3rd week stall." Many of us that are post op have had a similar situation. Sometimes it last a few days or a week or more. Your body is still changing and shifting. Just stick to the course and follow your plan. The weight will start coming off again soon. -
You may want to get something to flavor your water, gatorade (dilute with water), broth, soup. I wouldn't load up too much as your taste buds may change for a time so what sounds good now may not be post op. This goes for protein shakes as well. I loved some flavors preop, but after surgery they tasted awful for the first month or so.

I hit the 2 month mark yesterday, and am down 43 lbs to 240.0. Never thought it would be this good. I’m buying clothes in an XL or L, and can find things to wear at any store I go in. Protein and fluids and getting used to my new life is still a journey. So thankful to make the decision to get it done. 13 lbs away from 100 total loss, and 45 away from goal. How is everyone else doing?
