Try some Gas-X strips. They seemed to help me through the gas pains.

How much have you lost?
MG1776 replied to sasa_maria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HW 347, CW 187. 160 lbs lost. Surgery date was 10/16/17. -
I was out a week and felt pretty good going back. Coached a football game 5 days after surgery, but everyone heals differently.
-
@Glen DeanMy highest weight was in February 2017 at 347lbs. I started walking and eating better and got to 302 for my first appointment (August 2017) to get approved for VSG. Surgery date was 10/16/17 and was 283 lbs. Fast forward 8 months and I'm at 187, 96 lbs lost since surgery, 160 lbs in 16 months...that's the first I've done the full calculation, I'm pretty stoked with those numbers!

Patience is key. Just remember, it wasn't put on overnight, and it won't come off overnight. Stick to the plan and just remember that the journey will have ups and downs. I've had to remind myself of that too, for the longest time I was stuck between 194-197, and in the past two weeks, gone down to 187. Walk, drink, protein, sleep, repeat. And don't forget to enjoy the new life and the still transforming you!

@Glen DeanHow long has it been since surgery? You could be in your first of several stalls. Just keep your nose down and grinding, the stall will break. Make sure you keep getting in your fluids and proteins. Your body is still changing, regardless of the number stuck on the scale.

I was given a prescription of Ursodiol to take for the first 3 months post op to help prevent gallstones. Because you lose a good deal of weight in that time, it is just a preventative to help ensure no stones develop. But like others have said, it's always safest to verify with the Doctor.

I've only had the berry flavor. It's tolerable, and much better than a handful of pills multiple times per day. Wash down with a little water

I'm doing the Bariatric Choice all in one chewable 4x per day, along with a B1 pill in the morning, and B12 every 5 days. The chewable is about $22 per month and is quite reasonable. I had my 6 month checkup last month and all levels were where they needed to be.
-
Be patient and wait it out. Not much you can do. It'll break on its own, when it wants to. Just know that your body is still changing for the better, even though the scale doesn't reflect it. Just continue getting your protein and your fluids, and move your body.

@Whipa Our highest weight and surgery weight was similar. I'm 5'10" and currently at 194 after having VSG 10/16/17. It's a life changer and am so glad I decided to go through with it! Good luck to you on your journey. I'm closely evaluating skin to see if any surgery will be needed, but am hoping that it tightens up a bit over time.

How often do you weigh yourself?
MG1776 replied to kimberlymi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Almost daily. It helps keep me on track, and I know not to get worked up if one day is higher than the last. I record my weigh in only on Monday's. I should probably just weigh once a week, but it has worked for me thus far, so I will stick with it. -
Something to brighten your day

I hit the complete set of Oxford Dictionary last week, which was the ultimate and final goal! -
I'm just under 7 months post op and have times of feeling hunger, but like Albus said, it is easily satisfied. The new norm has set in for me, and you too will get through it.
-
Today, 05/07/18, is the day I hit my weight goal! 194.8 as of this morning. Still have some work to do, and can definitely lose more, but to be able to say that, is quite refreshing. Now I will turn my focus to adding some muscle and hopefully lose the little belly that is still there! Keep up the good work all of you!

I remember setting small goals when I first started my weight loss journey (Feb 2017) and said it'd great to see a 2 as the first number, then 250, 225, and then it came to a realization that maybe, just maybe, I'd be able to say I'm one hundred and xx lbs. A little over a week ago, I stepped on the scale and saw 199.8. Was I really in onederland? Seems unreal, but like the sound of it. Today, I weighed in at 195.8. Give it time, and keep up the great work, you too will get there.

04/18/18 marks the day that I finally made it to Onederland! I never thought I'd be here, and still have work to be done, but it feels so awesome to be able to say I'm under 200 lbs. My highest weight was over 340, so to be here feels really awesome. If I can do it, anyone can do it.
-
This happened today!!! I'm so stoked, I can finally say I'm in Onederland for the first time in almost 20 years!
-
Next Monday I go in for my 6 month post op appt. HW was 327, and as of this morning I am 201.2. I'm going to fight like hell to be in onederland for my appt. 1.4 lbs in a week. I'll be hitting the gym and eating very clean to make sure this happens!

Frustrated because of stalled weight loss
MG1776 replied to NewWoman18!!'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It'll happen, you just have to be patient. Type a search for the "third week stall." Stay the course and the weight will come off. -
Before and after one month feeling better

Atta girl! Good work, keep it up. -
Vitamins are so very important after surgery. Your body needs the vitamins to sustain. I'd recommend finding some vitamins that you can take, I'm currently taking the Bariatric Choice all in one chewable (4x day), along with B1 every morning, and B12 every 5 days. Maybe discuss with your surgeon for some recommendations. Have you looked at the Tespo system? I'm just really worried about the long term affects of not taking your vitamins.

1 1/2 years post op - before & after
MG1776 replied to Stephi7626's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Stunning! Keep up the great work! -
According to my scale and the BMI calculator this morning, I am no longer obese. I’m now in the overweight category for the first time in over 15 years. I’m just over 12 lbs from my initial goal and hoping to hit that mark at my 6 month check up appointment next month!
-
I started with a 44, and am now down to a 34 jeans or shorts and a 36 slack. I'm hoping to lose another 20 lbs or so to get to 190 and then we'll see. It's been a great year. I've kept a pair of my big guy pants, and holy cow, they were big.
