  2. @Matt Z Thank you kind sir! It sure has been quite a ride. Surreal at times, but well worth it.

    Posture

During my 6 month post op visit with the surgeon, she discussed my posture and needing to bring my shoulders back, stand taller, etc. Not an easy thing to do as I was so used to the weight pulling me down. Anyone else experience this, if so, what did you do to help your posture?
  4. Be careful with advancing to further stages faster than recommended. The Doctors have it this way for a reason. Your new stomach needs time to heal. I would try and stick to plan as much as possible.

    Time to stop losing weight!

It's a great problem, just need to tone, tighten, and build some bulk (just in the right places this time)!

Your Feet & Shoe Size ?

I was a size 12 pre-op and now down to a 10.5-11...yes, even your feet will lose fat.
  9. I decided to add spices to small pieces of cardboard instead. I still have a case in my pantry for some reason...just haven't gotten to throwing them away yet.
  10. For the past week, my family spent time in our home away from home, South Lake Tahoe, CA. If you haven't been, it's a place you need to visit and fall in love with. We visit there quite often since we are only 90 minutes away. Anyhow, the week was filled with many NSV's and bucket list items for me. Tuesday: Kenny Chesney concert Wednesday: Beach day, parasailing, watching fireworks with friends and family Thursday: 8 mile hike followed by 4 miles walking around Casinos and shops Friday: 6 mile hike and beach day, rented jet skis. Saturday: Top of Heavenly- First time ever ziplining, rock climbing, ropes course, mountain coaster. It was amazing getting in so many first time things, and actually being able to climb to the top of the rock wall, complete the ropes course, be under a certain weight limit to fit into harnesses, etc. My kids were so impressed and proud that I was able to keep up with them, and in some cases, out do them! I'll take the memories and NSV's like that over and over again.

    Before and after

    Before and after VSG Surgery
  12. Man, do I feel great. Still fighting through the full liquid/purée stage, but everyday is better. I’m down 17 lbs from surgery date, 67 lbs from my highest weight. Clothes are falling off, and I can visibly and physically see and feel the changes already. Here’s a photo of my highest to yesterday
  13. This past week I spent in Tahoe parasailing, ziplining, rock climbing, ropes course, hiking, etc. Never could have done any of yet 12 months and 165 lbs ago.

    Weight loss in Month 1

Congrats on your surgery. I too am a fellow football coach and coached a game 5 days after surgery. My first month I lost about 32 lbs with a starting surgery weight of 283. 30lbs seems like a reasonable goal, but understand that you may hit the dreaded third week stall, but your body will continue to change. Good luck to you and keep me posted!

    Post op alcohol

I can drink a couple of beers in an evening, but cannot mix it with food in the slightest bit. Very rarely do I drink, but to know I can go out to a social scene and have a cocktail or beer is nice. I just drink it much slower than I used to.

I need to make a decision

I chose the sleeve after doing research on malabsorption, complications, etc. If I had to do it all over again, I'd do the sleeve again. I can eat darn near anything I want, just in small quantities. I haven't experienced dumping one single time, even after a few bites of ice cream. Luckily for me, I made the conscious decision to truly change my habits to help make sure the sleeve was going to be a successful tool, so I don't eat a bunch of crap. It's usually protein and veggies only, or protein bars/shakes, eggs, etc. My HW was 347, SW was 283, and currently 186. I lost over 50 lbs within the first few months, and 97lbs in 8 months. My brother even said I look anorexic or gaunt in the shoulders! So now it's off to the gym to try and build muscle mass. I did my surgery through Kaiser in Northern CA.
