Lap-Band to Bypass - What Do You Wish You Would Have Been Told?
Sunnyday25 replied to ElleL's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my band year ago probably 8 and my revision on Oct 9th this year, the band never really worked until I started to have partial esophageal paralysis. Once that happened I was fast tracked for the removal and revision. I am on week 10 and down 58 pounds more than I ever lost with the band and the only thing that has caused an issue was the pain on my left side it would hit mostly at night for the first 5 or so nights it was pretty damn bad and I would have to take my pain med to sleep. After that it has been pretty smooth sailing. Good luck -
Amazing!!!!

OMG you just nailed something for me well I think you have. I am not a big coffee drinker never have been but from time to time I like to have a starbucks while I am meeting with friends. So (the lactose intolerance has let up) I order a coffee with about 2-3 tbls of whole whipping cream so I can keep the sugar down I am only allowed to have 5 grams at a time. I have had this coffee 3x now and every time I get about a quarter of the way down (medium size) and i will get an intense sensation of wanting to throw up it lasts for about a minute and then I sneeze every time and after this happens I can not take another drink for fear of throwing up. After about 2-3 I am fine back to my normal self do you think this could be a precursor to dumping???? I already told myself no more of that drink I wonder if it is the cream or the coffee. I don't really want to test to see which it is lol. I haven't dumped yet and I would like to keep it that way I have heard horror stories so I try my darndest to stay right with what the Doctor has spelled out for me. I am allowed coffee and this is one of the ways they suggest having it but then again everyone has a different system.

How is everyone doing we are either at the two month mark or coming up on it. What an amazing journey we have started!!!!

I forget how this is not a once size fits all journey sometimes, and that we all have different programs. I am amazed at the diversity in this field. Medicine is such and interestingly glorious thing. I am at 7 weeks out and I am only allowed to have 1.75 oz per meal (3 meals daily) and then 2 protein drinks for snacks. Oh and I am not allowed to have carbs yet still only animal protein. I wont get to start adding carbs in until I am at 75% of my weight loss. The goal is for my new tiny stomach to hold about 3-4 oz at a time when this is all said and done. Just incredible

Weigh in Wednesday since my next Dr's apt isn't until January I have decided that Wednesdays are my days to check the scale. One of the biggest things I have done for myself is to cut the chain that used to bind me to the scale no more daily weigh ins no more constant worry about being up or being down nope I have decided to have faith in my Dr and my program. So the good news is I am down another 4 pounds woohooo that makes it 49 pounds down I am so excited!!!!

wow that is so weird I a with my surgeon for life I committed to seeing them at least 3x a year for the first two years then 1x a year after that. That is crazy that they cut you loose so early

11 days to go until surgery and I am busy buying all my stuff now before I get to stressed. My Dr told me all the vitamins I need to take but then only gave me one resource for those vitamins when I went onto the website and loaded up the cart it was a bit over 200 for vitamins. Do any of you have brand suggestions or any other helpful hints. I know the 200 is actually spread out over a few months but I have to pay a pretty large payment to the hospital and any savings out of the gate would be so very helpful.

This is my very first set of holidays living this new lifestyle, and I have to admit it is coming easier than I thought which makes me nervous. First adventure was going to the movies (we saw Justice League) the smell of popcorn was amazing but did not turn me into a popcorn eating machine like normal. We bought a large popcorn and soda for my 3 kids and husband to share and I sat farthest from the popcorn train. I snuck in (shhhh) an ounce of Jerky to chew on if needed and I did i nibbled through the whole movie. You know what I made it through woohooo. Next was Thanksgiving now I do all the cooking so the tasting was hard I had to submit to finger tip tastes rather than spoonful tastings. I am not going to say this part was easy but far easier than expected. I had a few finger licking issues lol but got through. I had issues with the meat plate I automatically wanted to just toss some prosciutto in my mouth I caught myself woohooo. The dinner turned out amazing and I had my turkey and was strangely satisfied. I also drank my power aid zero from a wine glass what a girl has got to get fancy sometimes. Then today during the mad dash shopping I hit starbucks and was almost scared to order i mean I am typically the girl that gets the skinny caramel macchiato with extra pumps so what the hell was I going to get now with very limited sugar So i just told the barista and she whipped me up a dark roast coffee with 3-4 tablespoons of full cream (not milk) and a couple pumps of sugar free vanilla it was wonderful and so tasty and a little burst when it was desperately needed. Next step is all the holiday get togethers I am a work in progress and that is ok but I made it through this part. How did all of you do???

Crazy sense of smell
Sunnyday25 replied to Debbkid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always had a great sense of smell but now Its like some weird craving to smell everything I smell things and the smell so different now like I can smell a different reality lol like chocolate now as a very bitter smell to it similar to the aftertaste it would leave me with. Alcohol something I was sensitive to before makes me sick my hubby drinks a glass of wine I have to stand back 3-4 feet or I get sick, its incredible. Oh and I try not to go down the bread isle at the grocery store man that is like floating through bread heaven all the smells are so good. -

I also had two protein shakes. my total was 377 calories 58g protein, 13 carbs, 1 sugar, and 13 fat I am feeling fantastic!! -
What are your goals other than weight loss?
Sunnyday25 replied to Mattymatt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is a bit full of vanity I live in a "ritzy" area and all the shops only go up to a size 10 max I would love to be able to go shopping with my friends and not feel like a bystander and I suppose vice versa when I drag them to torrid -

Yesterdays diet was super exciting I had a single Chik fil a nugget for breakfast (wasn't the healthiest but my morning appointment ran over) Lunch was 1.60z of egg salad it was great little salt little pepper and dinner was 1.5 oz of grilled chicken it was a poultry kind of day!! I also had two of my protein drinks grand total 387 calories 52 protein (a bit short of my 60 but for yesterday that is ok) 18 carbs and 6 sugars I still am in awe of how little I eat and how content I feel it is an odd sensation that I am truly enjoying -
No stall yet but I don't weigh every day
