You are going to do GREAT!!! See you in the Post Op Forum -
That makes sense, but my issue is low blood sugar. That's why I keep getting the shakes. It isn't a will power thing. Im going to stick with what my surgeon wants and eat a Tbsp of chicken breast as needed. [emoji4]

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?
Sherry Rice replied to SassyScienceNerd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Excellent point! It is so important to ensure proper nutrition. It can cause all kinds of problems. I will never forget reading a woman's post that all of her teeth fell out. That will ensure that I personally will be stringent on all supplements. I have the Tespo and LOVE IT! -
Im on Day 2 of the pre op liquid diet (and day 2 of no cigarettes). It is VERY difficult, Im really hungry. I hope this hungry feeling subsides soon. Mine is a 10 day diet

Are there any preop smokers out there
Sherry Rice replied to fabnfit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery Date 10/28/2017 So I woke up in the middle of the night and had a massive craving for a cigarette. I didn't smoke though. Thankfully, I had thrown them all away! Yesterday (Day 1 PreOp Diet AND Day 1 quit smoking) was ROUGH! The hunger pains were the worst! So bad that I hardly noticed how much I wanted to smoke. I think this liquid diet is going to be super helpful to quit smoking. I drank more fluid every time the hunger pains were bad. I do think it's weird that I haven't gone into ketosis yet. I have the Keytone Test Strips and it was negative as of a few minutes ago. I had 2 Premiere Protein Shakes, At least 90 oz. of sugar free drinks, 8 oz. beef broth, 1 sugar free jello, 1 Oikos Triple Zero vanilla yogurt, 2 sugar free chocolate puddings. At around 8:00pm I was so hungry and I was shaking like a leaf! I ate one bite of shredded chicken breast (1-2 tsp?). That took away the shakes after about 20 minutes and I was able to fall asleep around 10:00pm. I woke up this morning and did my Tespo vitamin shot and drank a Premiere Protein shake. Here's hoping today is easier than yesterday!!!! Im about 1/4 way through a 32 oz. Powerade Zero. -
Nobody told me I should invest in toilet paper companies stock Pre Op! I bet I have been to the restroom AT LEAST 12 times and it's only 6:00pm!

So sorry about your divorce, but happy that you will soon be open to a healthy, loving relationship with a man who deserves you!

Im cold turkey as well. The saving grace is that after I eat triggers my cigarette cravings. Not eating (PreOp diet) is making it easier. [emoji4] -
Walk, Rest and Sip. You are now on the "New You" path. Congrats!!

Today is day 1 of Pre Op diet AND quitting smoking! I have not told my children and am traveling to Tijuana 10/28 for my surgery -
It occurred to me today (my liquid aka fasting diet begins tomorrow) that there is a lot of research done on fasting. Granted, this isn't a true fast as I will be taking in protein daily but the rest (for me) is going to be water. During a fast your body uses its glucose reserves within 24 hours. After that, your body will use only 4% protein and 96% lipids (fat) for energy. Fasting has TONS of benefits but must be done under medical supervision. It can help with allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and hypertension. The biggest finding is that fasting prior to chemotherapy dramatically decreases the side effects. There is an EXCELLENT documentary called "The Science of Fasting". I saw it on Amazon Prime Video. The major body of work was done by a world renowned biologist named Dr. Longo at Univ. of Southern California. I'm sure you can google him and find his research. So, maybe we should all look at our pre op diet as beneficial and not just for surgery preparation. We are truly cleansing our bodies and preparing them for a new healthy life. [emoji4]
