Its a 1 hour surgery, no biggie. There are rarely any complications. I take a lot of insulin and still have a high A1c. I assume they know that. I have been told to eat as I want because I am right on the edge of qualifying for the surgery.

In the 8 months that I have been jumping through hoops the surgeon nor any of her minions who I have been examined by have said anything about my A1c. I am concerned because I don't want to come up to the last minute and have someone say 'oh by the way your a1c is too hight so we can't do the surgery'. That would just be terrible. I have been battling with my A1c numbers for years. It isn't a new thing. If my diabetes was in great shape and my A1c was perfect I wouldn't need the surgery.

I take Metformin, Trulicity, Lantus Insulin, Novolog fast acting insulin and my A1c is still high.

My sleeve is scheduled for May 9. My next A1c is scheduled for May 1. I have had a difficult time with my blood sugar. I take alot of insulin and also take a fast acting insulin also. I am insulin resistant. I have only been on insulin since July of 17.

Thanks you have made me feel just wonderful. I have been jumping through hoops for my surgery for 8 months now and to have them deny me my surgery now over my A1c would be devastating. They haven't said anything to me about it so far. The subject of A1c has never come up.

I just had my A1c 2 days ago and it was 10. My surgery is on May 9. I am supposed to take another A1c on May 1. Could they keep me from having my surgery because of a high A1c??

I get sleeved May 9. I am a bit scared of being put under, afraid of not waking up.

Mine is May 9th. I am scared of the surgery. Will something gp wrong? Will i wake up during the surgery

I am planning ahead for my May 9, 2018 gastric sleeve surgery. I have bought 10 packets of jello and 3 gallons of apple juice. Anyone else preparing ahead?

how is a protein shake clear liquid? I am planning for post-op. I am a medicare patient. There is no pre authorization required.

oh I didn't know that. I had read on this website that apple juice was ok. It is a clear liquid.

I have to have an endoscopy but I have no idea why. What are they going to be looking for? Why do some have to have it but others don't? I guess they put you to sleep so you won't gag on the camera. I am going to ask my doctor why she wants me to have one.

This is where they run a camera down your throat to look around at your organs and your stomach. I was wondering if others are having this done too?
