    Same weight as pre-op

My surgery was 5/9 and I am having chicken broth. Ate all of my popsicles. That would be 40 popsicles since Friday the 11th when I got home. Yes, they were sugar free.

I get sleeved in a week

I am going to go to the store tomorrow and get appropriate foods for weeks 1-4. I am going to try and make the best of it. I love jello, milk and yogurt so it shouldnt be that bad. I found Premier protein shakes on Amazon. Anyone have any thoughts on Premier Protein drinks?

I get sleeved in a week

I just got home from the grocery store. spent 225.00. I got 3 kinds of dry protein powder. I got soups, a blender, yogurts, gatorade, soy milk, regular milk, vitamins, sugar free jello. There are very small amounts of sugar in the protein powders. Will that be a problem?

Are there other diabetics in here who have to take an A1c

Thank you for your kind reply.
  17. My doctor wants me to have an A1c just prior to surgery. My primary care physician just had me take an A1c and it was 10. Could the high A1c keep me from being able to have my surgery on May 9?

There are worse things than having an A1c of 10. 1. eating and drinking things like pizza, huge meals, drinking alcohol days after the weight loss surgery. 2. Binge eating and drinking right after surgery. These things can keep a person from healing properly too. We hear a lot about these things but not about A1c.

Are there other diabetics in here who have to take an A1c

I am the first one in here to bring up the topic of A1c so it must not be that big of a deal. My thing is I have waited 8 months for my surgery and no one on my health care team has ever mentioned to me anything about my A1c. That is what I am concerned about. And my question is why haven't they?

There are risks to surgery no matter what. So don't give me that crap about your father staying at 10 Ac1 for years and that it affected his knee surgery and applying that logic to sleeve surgery. I have never heard from my health care providers yet about my A1c. Can you tell me why not? But what I am concerned about is that I could be denied sleeve surgery if my A1c is too high. Why not tell me that early on? Why wait a week until my surgery to tell me? Thats unethical. Maybe going to an attorney may be the route to go.

i am just really worried about it from what people in this forum have said. The thing is the health care workers I have seen so far have not mentioned my A1c but I do have an appointment to get blood work done and A1c is one of those blood tests that is coming up on the May 1. My surgery is on May 9. I would hate to see my surgery cancelled so close to me having my surgery.

I have Medicare. Medicare does not have any pre authorization requirement. I have been waiting 8 months for this surgery. Why during this eight months has no one mentioned my high A1c? They have actually told me to eat what I want in order to have the bmi of 35.
