crsmom00 started following Hiccups Anyone??, Lost my band - forever, What causes all this gas? and and 7 others
-
I had my lap band since Feb 2008 and had it removed by emergency surgery on Oct 4 due to erosion. I was told that they no longer consider rebanding a person whose had an erosion. They told me at my hospital that they newest recommendations is not to reband an erosion because we don't really know what caused it.
-
They said I am their first case of erosion. I had my surgery done in Hershey Medical Center.

I had the band since Feb 2008. They cut me - multiple incisions. I still have a drain coming out of one of them -OUCH. It only took me about 8 months for it to erode through my stomach.

:crying:I had some pain and a fever on Friday night so I went to the hospital where my band was implanted. After hours of testing, they disovered that the band had eroded through my stomach and I had to have emergency surgery to have it removed. I'm soooo disappointed. It's like losing a friend.

I don't have a gallbladder anymore but thanks for the heads up.

I was banded in Feb 2008. I had some problems early on but have been doing fine past few months. I started having pain in my stomach yesterday. It's bearable but slowly worsening. I can't walk straight upright now because it hurts. Deep breaths are fairly painful too. It doesn't really hurt to eat. The pain in right where my stomach is and it's tender to the touch. Anybody have any idea what might be going on? (last fill was Sept 19 - 2 weeks ago)

What causes all this gas?

I have the same problem. I was banded in February of 2008. I asked the doctor why I was so gassy as well as burping ALOT. The doc told me it was very common. She called it "Anatomical gas" because it's caused by the stricture of the band. She said Gas-X wouldn't help because it isn't caused by the food you eat. She told me I'd just have to put up with it. My gassing isn't painful but at times I can't hold it and it's extremely embarrassing. Same with the burping.:w00t: -
I was banded on Feb 27 this year. I didn't get my first fill until July and I also had one in August. Each time I get more and more gassy. I burp ALOT and now I have a lot of gas. Anyone else have this? If so, what do you do about it?

I just had my first stuck incident. It was very painful for short periods of time followed by "slimeing" and the inevitable throwing up. I wouldn't call mine PBing because it was more like throwing up but like everyone says it's not stomach acid just undigested food and excessively thick saliva. YUK. I don't recommend it! But---I'll bet I'll be much more thoughtful while eating from now on.

I was banded on 2/27/08 at Hershey Medical Center in PA. I had some complications  so I haven't had any fills yet :scared2: but here's my stats... As of June 27th, my 4 month Bandiversary, I have lost 37 pounds. I have had no fills and I don't know what size my band is. -
I was filled on 2/27/08 and have not had a fill yet. I have lost about 35 lbs so far. Initially I tore my stomach and had to go very easy on eating. I no longer have pain in my stomach when I eat, however, I do have pain in my throat/lower esophagus. It hurts until I burp then it feels better. I also noticed that I burp ALOT. I never used to burp but I burp - loudly - and without warning a lot of the time. Anyone else had this experience?

I was banded on Feb. 27, 2008. That was nearly three months ago. I still have a completely open band, however I have a lot of symptoms described here when there is an overfill of the band. I have pain with almost every bite I swallow. I have to eat like I will have to eat after I do have a fill. (small bites, chew, chew, chew, etc.) But I still have pain and a lot of the time I just give up on trying to eat anything solid and go back to liquids. How long can a person safely comsume the liquid diet? Anybody else have these types of problems before their band was ever filled?:tt1:

I see a lot of references to "PB"ing. Is that the same as vomiting or what?

I get hiccups almost every time I eat. I'm kind of glad to hear someone else gets hiccups alot too. I thought it was just my own "oddity".
