This is almost my exact same scenario. My surgeon identified elevated liver enzymes in my PreOp blood work. I don't drink, but fatty liver disease was diagnosed based on poor diet/weight. Dr. said it will go away with improved diet and weight loss post sleeve. My surgeon also did a biopsy during the sleeve procedurep, which came back negative for cirrhosis.

My surgeon advised to use Colace.

I found this thread a motivation, so I figured I would add to it now that I'm officially post-sleeve. I started off at 406 during my initial consult back in June. My insurance required a 6 month diet program, in which I lost 88lbs pre-op. My official surgery weight was 318 on 12/11/17, and as of this morning, I'm at 313.8. Almost to TWOderland!!!

Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017

I'm so glad my surgeon didn't require a long post op liquid diet. The plan he gave to me for post op was: Days 1-2: clear liquids Days 3-20: full liquids and purees Days 21-42: soft foods (defined as can be cut with a fork) Day 43+: Normal diet I was sleeved on 12/11, and yesterday I tried some applesauce and Ricotta bake, and today I've tried cream of wheat, in addition to the protein shakes. All has settled well, but in shocked at how little fills me up. For example, about 1/3 of a pack of cream of wheat stuffed me at breakfast this morning. Also, I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 4.2lbs since surgery day in Monday, which is crazy considering I was UP 11+lbs the day after surgery! -

I was up 11.2 pounds from morning of surgery (12/11) to the day after (12/12). It's from all the swelling and Iv fluids. As of this morning (12/14) I've lost that 11.2 and am 1.8 lower than the morning of surgery. The iv fluid weight goes away quickly. -

Hi, all. I was sleeved on 12/11. Anyone else have a noisy new stomach? I feel like even just drinking water, I can hear it "processing" down through my new stomach (I can sure feel it to!). It's this normal? Is this permanent? -
Was able to get through my first night home. (I woke up about every 2 hours having to pee.) good news is that the pain in my ribs is gone.. Hoping it doesn't come back. Bad news is that water is still making me nauseated. I just took some anti nausea meds they sent me home with and am going to add Mio to my water to see if that helps.
-
I just got home earlier today. I'm getting nausea when I sip water, but haven't thrown up yet. I get killer pain on my right side under the rib cage when I breathe in. Anyone else experience this?

My labwotk came back PreOp showing fatty liver disease, so he wanted to check it out. He said the biopsy looked fine, and it should go away with weight loss.
-
Did anyone's surgeon take a liver biopsy? That seems to be the only thing sore in/on me from yesterday's surgery. No gas pain at this point (knock on wood).
-
Surgery went well today. The only discomfort I have is the area where my MD took a liver biopsy.
-
I hear you on that! Starving! Good luck to you!

I'm getting ready to go to the hospital. Surgery at Noon. The nerves are real!
-
I'm right there with you. I'm at noon on Monday. I'm officially in the nervous mode as opposed to excited. I can't belive how fast this 6 month pre op process has gone! Good luck to you!

Well, I've stayed on track. I'm realizing just how much of advertising/marketing is around food. Seriously like every other TV commercial! Oddly, I haven't been hungry like I though I would. More so just cravings of specific things I know I won't be able to eat until quite some time post op. I'm only down 4lbs after 9 days of this. I had expected more given that in only taking in ~600 calories per day.
-
Is that the norm for your doctor, or was there some kind of complication?
-
I'm in the same boat that the pre op diet hasnt been too bad, but not the best either. I'm worried about going through my first weekend on it. I find it's easier to stay on plan during the week where I'm busy and time structured at work. Weekend is going to be tougher I fear.

You're one day after me. I'm on 12/11 and just started the 2 week liquid diet this week. Good to see another guy in the December crowd.
-
How much did you lose BEFORE the liquid diet?
BlueCrush replied to kaydo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost 75.4 since about mid June. I started at 406 (6'3" guy). My insurance required a six month physician supervised diet before approval. They did not give a weight loss mark you had to hit, but I set a personal goal to lose 50 lb by surgery date. I hit that at about the four-month mark, So I reset my goal to 75 lbs. I hit that on Thanksgiving morning, so now I'm trying to get to 80 lb by my December 11th surgery date. I start the liquid diet tomorrow, so thinking I should be able to shave off another 4.6 in the next 2 weeks. -
Just confirmed with my insurance, Medical Mutual, that my prior authorization has been approved. That was my last hurdle. I start the liquid diet tomorrow for surgery date of December 11th.
-
Someone else posted this before, but it's a great visual representation of why not to drink for 30 minutes after a meal. See 1:58 mark.
-
We're surgery triplets. I'm Dec. 11th too.

I was required to purchase BariatricFusion vitamins from my surgeon's office at the pre op education appointment. I have to but CitraCal over the counter.

I attended my last pre-op MD visit and pre op visit today which included a class on the pre and post op diet. I was expecting something way tougher based on my reading here. What I received was: PreOp: Starting 2 weeks prior to surgery date, daily diet is: -3x Nectar or Unjury protein shake -1/2 cup oatmeal or cream of wheat -1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce -1 cup of vegetables -1/2 cup of light n fit or carb master yogurt -1 cup of low fat soup This is not an "or" list, but rather I'm supposed to eat everything on that list daily on the 2 week pre op diet. -1 day prior to surgery = clear liquids only. Curious as to why different surgeons have such drastically different requirements for the pre op diet? Also of note, for post op, they only have you on clear liquids for the first 2 days, then full liquids and purees from day 3-20, soft foods (meaning can be cut with a fork) from week 3-6, then all normal food after 6 weeks with the exception of bread/rice/pasta, which cannot have until 12 weeks.

I'm on the same day. Congrats!
