  1. Yep. She's the nutritionist in my surgeons office that only works with bariatric patients. I just don't think they're used to patients hitting their goal weight so soon. I lost almost 90lbs in the 6mo pre op before the surgery, so I was at goal about 7 months post-op. I think another issue is that 90% of their patients are women who just want to get and stay skinny. The nutritionist struggles with me being a guy who is now interested in GAINING weight (muscle) after the sleeve. I just don't think she's had this scenario before.

    Beards

LOL. I actually said the EXACT same thing a few days ago to my wife.

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

For me, getting into the gym was kind of like weight loss when I first start at the pre-op diet. It sucked at first, and I had to force myself to do it, but after just a few weeks when I started to see rapid results, it motivated me to push harder to see even more results. Once you start gaining some muscle mass and seeing muscles pop where you never have before, trust me, you will be plenty motivated to keep going back. I very much compare this to when you first start Weight Loss and you are seeing 5 plus pounds per week falling off, keeps you motivated to stay on track.

    Fairlife Milk for Protein?

I drink 1 cup fairlife skim mixed with 1 cup fairlife chocolate every morning for breakfast during my commute to work. Have for about 6 months.
  5. Viffer, I have to adjust all of my stated weights down by 10 lb as I found out that the barbell I've been using is only 35 pounds. That being said, I did do a couple of one rep max tests this week and have found my max one-rep deadlift is 305 and squat is 295. I tried like hell to get to 300 squat so I can say it's at 300, but it just wasn't happening LOL
  6. So very true. At my 9 month follow-up appointment, I was already 5 pounds below my goal weight, and the doctor wanted me to transition to maintenance and stop losing weight. Nutritionist told me to increase from 1600 to 1800 calories per day and she didn't want me going above 1800 calories. I knew immediately that do nutritionist didn't have very good advice for patients on maintenance. At almost 6 foot 3, and working out 6 days a week, there's no way I would NOT keep losing weight eating only 1800 calories a day. Discussion ended in and agree to disagree. I've been trying to adjust my diet based on results week the week, and I found about 2400/day is my maintenance. I've fluctuate about the same 1/2 of a pound the past few weeks at that calorie intake. If my nutritionist knew that's how much I was eating, I think I think she would s*** herself.
  7. To amswer your question, I think this is a bit different for everyone, but somewhere around 25 to 30 BMI your waist size should stabilize. I'm at 27 now, and my waist settled at a 34W around 30 or 31 BMI.

    Frustrated with stall

Just for perspective, you're frustrated at ONLY losing 58lbs in two months? Perhaps setting realistic expectations is in order?

    Super tired after work outs

You need to get a good quality carb about 30-45 minutes before you workout to give you some fuel. Think like oatmeal. I usually eat one serving of oatmeal with protein powder mixed into it that I ordered custom online. I noticed I can go way harder in the gym if I do so.

    Dealing with Co-Workers and Friends

I've embraced talking about the surgery AS PART of a lifestyle change. I've actually had a few coworkers pursue the surgery after seeing my success with it. I'm not sure why some are so ashamed to discuss surgery. I see it as an opportunity to better educate people and perhaps help a few with their own struggles along the way. No shame in my game.
  11. I'm currently doing 3 sets: 12 reps, 10 reps, 8 reps with increasing weight for each set. For my set of 8, I'm currently at 245 squat, 245 deadlifts, and 165 bench. Been doing these lifts for about 4 weeks now. I'm 6'3" and 222lbs. My squat form sucks, so I'm trying to focus on form and getting lower on squats. It seems I have some hip flexibility issues. Good tip on the weight belt. I'll look into it.
  12. I've been trying to incorporate more complex lifts into my routine. Specifically deadlifts, squats, lunges, pull-ups, etc. I've been seeing some good gains in my arms, shoulders, and legs. 20180923_100751.mp4
  13. 12/11/17 here. I hit my goal about a month ago and have been holding steady since. I'm up to about 2200 calories/day now and maintaining. I work out 6 days a week. All in all, life is great!
  14. Hold up. Everyone elses hair grew back?!?

    Losing while eating???

Absolutely. I'm up to about 2100 calories per day and STILL losing between 0.5-1lb per week. I've hit my goal weight and am trying to adjust up and add calories until I find my maintenance calories.

    Too much protein/Kidney stones

I actually just met with my bariatric nutrition today about this. She said that as you start to get above 100 grams of protein per day, that it is actually more about the ratio or percentage of protein in your diet versus the actual number of grams. For example she was telling me that my protein should be no more than 40% of my daily calories after I get above 100 grams per day. Otherwise, your body will have trouble breaking down the protein?

    What were your starting workouts?

What are your exercise goals? That makes a big difference in workout plan.
  22. I've been following the same routines above twice per week (6 workout days and a rest day 7). I'll report back in a month with progress pics and may change up the routine from there.
  23. I'm almost 9 months out and have lost almost 88% of my calculated excess body weight. 406 to 223.5 (I'm 6'3") The single biggest thing I can recommend is get started on your new way of life (what you eat, how you eat, cut out liquid calories, start physical activity) BEFORE your surgery. Don't treat your surgery as the "fix," but rather your MINDSET as the "fix" and the surgery as a tool assist along the way. I lost 88lbs in the 6 month pre-op plan leading up to my surgery and those new habits catapulted into awesome success with post-surgery and made recovery a breeze. Recovering from the surgery is hard enough. You don't want to try recovering from the surgery AND trying to mentally adapt to a new lifestyle at the same time. Make the lifestyle change now.
  24. 1. I've had zero issues with dumping. I've been able to eat anything I've tried, but just limited to how much I can eat. 2. Oh yes. After losing 182.5lbs, loose skin is there. Mostly around my stomach and chest. I plan to get skin surgery next year, but even if I didn't, the loose skin looks and feels 100000x better than the 182.5lbs of fat did. 3. I started my prep diet the week of thanksgiving last year and had my surgery right before Christmas on 12/11. It was ok, but a little annoying with family members always questioning why you're not eating all the junk. You don't realize how much life in general (not just holidays) revolves around food until you're forced to have a different perspective.
