CellPhoneMan started following Lump in throat, Phentermine, Anyone else been told a limit on number of fills? and and 7 others

Has anyone been prescibed phentermine by their surgeon? I was banded April 28th, 2008. Because my weight loss was slower than normal my surgeon prescribed phentermine which is a weight loss drug that has been used for many years. I was a little discouraged thinking that the band isn't working. Been on phentermine for 1 month have dropped 15lbs. I go in Jan 13th for my 6th fill. Total weight loss is 45lbs. Again I'm a little concerned because I don't want to be taking this drug too long and what happens when the drug stops?:tongue2:

Anyone else been told a limit on number of fills?
CellPhoneMan replied to Tess415's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded April 28th and had my 5th fill last week. Just beginning to feel restricted. Down about 28 lbs. (a bit slow in my opinion) My doctors feeling is slow but sure. He said he will give me as many fills as it takes to get to the point where my appetite is curbed and the weight loss a bit quicker. He seems to be a bit conservative when giving more fill at one time. A bit frustrating if you ask me. -

I was banded April 28th and had a 3rd fill Aug. 12th. I've lost a total of 25lb's. Since my last fill I've gained 5lb's. It seems like my hunger has returned. What's going on? It seems like the fullness is not there like it was. I have been experiencing pain where the band would be. Could the band have slipped?

Was banded April 28th down about 35 lbs. Had my first fill May 23rd. Not unhappy with the weight loss but only lost 5 lbs since my fill May 23rd. Seems like I plateaued. My appetite seems to be some what back as well. Scheduled for another fill July 18th. I guess my question is will I experience a difference with future fills? Will my weight loss continue?:confused2:

Frustrated with Fills!!
CellPhoneMan replied to jpuglisi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on April 28th. My surgeon kept me on Protonix (Acid reducer) right after surgery. I have no problem with reflux or heartburn. I know without the protonix I would suffer with heart burn and if you are experiencing a constant belching feeling my doctor told me the band is too tight. -
Still have pain in shoulder after 3 1/2 weeks post-op
CellPhoneMan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was banded on April 28th and still experiencing pain in my left shoulder especially after I eat. Went to Surgeon today for 1st fill and he said I'm eating too much or too fast at meals. He said a nerve/muscle is located right at the banded area that affects the shoulder. Strange isn't it? I've lost a total of 22 lbs. 5 lbs before surgery and 17 lbs after -
I attended a pre-op meeting and was told by the surgeon that in many cases patients loose weight without an initial fill and some cases don't need a fill at all. He claims in some cases the band alone does the job. I would think it is wise for a surgeon to wait before an initial fill.

Help! I'm starving and depressed!
CellPhoneMan replied to okpunkinpie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
okpunkinpie, Hang in there kid. I was on nothing but liquids 1 week prior to surgery and had 2 occassions where I had to order pizza for the occasion. When it arrived it smelled so good where I wanted to say the heck with it. I know this sounds kinda silly but at that point I couldn't beleive how much food had control of my life rather than me having control of the food so I went over to the pizza and took a strong wiff and began to chew like I had the pizza in my mouth. At that point I made myself a cup of tomato Soup (thinned out with skim milk) and got beyond the point of failing. When I was in the hospital they served me creamed Soups which really did help the need for carbs. I would suggest fill up on things like soups and be sure to be getting your protien. Remember, it wont be like this once you get your fills and bottom line is the wait and effort will be worth it. -
I was banded on the 29th. Had same experience. It was so bad went to the Dr. 3 days later. He told me this feeling is very common and is due to the band being tight around the stomach and releif will come after healing and weight loss. Even now a week later I am still on pain meds but am finding the sensation is weakening some.

I was banded on April 29th. Had hard pains in the center of my chest. Felt as though a hard burp would releive the pain. Didn't change too much a few days after surgery. Went to the Dr. 5 days after surgery he said it's a common feeling and it's caused by the band being so tight around the stomach and after healing and weight loss the feeling will subside. Today I still have the sensation but not as bad still bad enough where I still take pain meds at night.

Lump in throat
CellPhoneMan replied to CellPhoneMan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Went to Dr. this morning for tightness and pain in my chest. He told me that the band is tight and after some weight loss the pain will ease. He said this is very common and not to be concerned but to continue on pain meds. Lost 8 lbs in 4 days. -
Lump in throat
CellPhoneMan replied to CellPhoneMan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Angelface, It seems to happen more when I'm up standing or walking. It doesn't bother me in the middle of the night but the moment I step out of bed it starts. Eating (All I do is drink right now) doesn't seem to affect it either way. I have an appointment with the doctor who did the surgery tomorrow. -

I'm on an acid reducer now so I don't think it's acid reflux.
