About Me

  1. I have gained back a considerable amount of my lost weight do to deaths and depression and bad eating. I wanted to see about a revision and now that I have insurance( had to pay cash for my surgery in 2005 ) so I went to a new doctor at Kaiser (my insurance). They had me do a upper GI test( had to drink barium and had x rays.) they said my pouch hadn’t stretched. I believe it cause if I am eating health foods like meats and vegetables I get full fast. But if I eat slider foods I can eat more. So just getting back on track by drinking protein shakes and having 1 meal a day at first. So maybe start with seeing if you pouch has stretched.
  2. Hi I am 12 years out of having my Roux-en-Y surgery. Things were great for 3 years then it went downhill fast and I've regained a lot of my weight back. Please don't lecture me on what I did wrong and how I was stupid and wasted this opportunity! You aren't in my shoes and haven't gone through what I have been in the last 12 years. And I already have been telling myself how I messed up.and am ready to turn it back around and re climb the hill and win at losing it. And if you are less than 5 years out and haven't experienced any real regain and have dealt with the following : depression, stress and deaths please don't lecture me. Even if you mean well, please don't. I know I can do this, I just need to get started. I am here to get some support to get back on track.

Gastric Sleeve - Dental Health Concerns

Hi Chrissy , I am 12 years out. And as for acid being worse after surgery, no it's not. I had RNY and my stomach pouch doesn't make any acid ( don't know about the sleeve) . The lower part of my stomach that is still inside makes the acid ( where all stomach acid is always made) and it goes directly into the intestines. I used to have bad indigestion prior to surgery and on the day of surgery I was about to die waiting for surgery on an empty stomach , the acid so so bad I almost backed out because I wanted to eat something to end the acid. They gave me some horrible medicine to help with it but it still was horrible until I was knocked out. When I woke up the indigestion was gone and replace with nausea from the anesthetic but once that wore off , it was great. As for my teeth, I have always had bad teeth and have a full mouth of crowns . Nothing has changed or gotten worse after surgery.

    Donate blood?

I used to donate blood and platelets but ever since the surgery my iron levels have been too low and I was told by my doctor to not donate blood. I did donate one time after surgery and all was fine except my iron levels never recovered so my doc said no more whole blood donations for me. Platelets are okay if my iron level is in a higher range at the time. I think it all depends on your iron levels.

    14 Years Post Op

Yes we understand about the about 20 bounce weight and what things we should or should not eat but if you read the post more closely, you would see they stated that death and stress and depression took over and they lost their way. There is a huge difference from 4 years and 14 years. They get what they did wrong but it was out of there control and have checked and know that they don't have any damage or a stretched pouch. They are wanting to get back on track and was asking it anyone else was in the same place with regain as them and wanted to go through this new journey of losing it together for support. Ok now that I have said that... BLISH message me when you can, I understand where you are at and how you got here...as I am in the same place as you and for the same reason !! So I get it!
