be careful, they told me the 0% would still show up on the test. Not sure if they were lying so i would quit, but I would hate for you to have to get rescheduled.

What I want to believe
DisplacedYankee replied to starshine123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mother had the sleeve done a year ago. She said her biggest regret was not getting it done in her 30's. I was going to wait, try some more on my own. Add to the yoyo that has been the last 8 years. Instead, with her support I have a tool to assist me for the rest of my life. I am super excited for this transformation and to be a healthy example for my girls. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app -
This liquid diet is killing me
DisplacedYankee replied to theresa_86's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I can understand all of that, plus my liquid diet was for one week. If I had to do 5 I would of been pulling my hair out! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app -

My mother used dr Kim, dfw bariatrics. I went with mybariatricsolutions. I had less hoops to jump through and was very happy with my care. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app -

This liquid diet is killing me
DisplacedYankee replied to theresa_86's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I wasn't hungry on my liquid diet. I made sure to have a protein shake every 2 to 3 hours. The hardest thing was getting over mentally wanting to eat. But that is something I am going to struggle with even know post op. You can do this! Stay strong! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app -
You can do It! I am 4 days post op and my lungs still ache. I cannot imagine how bad it would feel if i was still smoking. Plus the thought of a leak scares the crap out of me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app

I vaped prior to my surgery. They stressed the importance of quitting due to the nicotine causing leaks and preventing healing. It was hard at first but I an thankful that I am starting this new journey smoke free as well! Good luck! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app

United healthcare cost estimator tool
DisplacedYankee replied to Gypsystash's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also my bmi was 35, after a six month diet I am sure I would be under that. I have been on a yoyo for the last 10 years and am over it. So yes, I didn't want to wait six months and no longer qualify. I am ready for a permanent solution. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Mine said they would test and I got tested on when my EEG was done on Thursday. The big risk is nicotine can cause leaks at your incision and delays the healing process. I was an Ecig user since I quit smoking 8 years ago. The whole "stomach leaking thing" freaked me out. Good luck and stay strong!!

DisplacedYankee replied to Gypsystash's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do they offer a cash price? My cash price was not far off of what the insurance price was. -

Need more protein in
DisplacedYankee replied to Sandydee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isopure has 40g of protein and tastes pretty good, at times a bit sweet. I also got a flavored water additive from bariatric choice. Only 15g of protein but I think they taste better and are a bit cheaper. They also have little shots, like 5 hour energy, think they were 18g. http://www.bariatricchoice.com/ This one is my favorite. It is a liquid that you pour in water. http://www.bariatricchoice.com/bariatric-choice-protein-fruit-drinks-concentrate-greentea-cranberry.html Hopefully they still offer free shipping for you! -

DisplacedYankee replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't think so. I plan on thrifting until I am close to goal. We have a clothes mentor by me which is a nicer resale shop. Look in to those types and you can trade in what you have out grown, or out lost! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Sleeve vs rny
DisplacedYankee replied to enigma_007's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an EEG prior to my surgery ( scheduled on the 26th ). The dr found a Hiatal Hernia and she will be fixing this during my sleeve. It should improve my reflux immencely. Well after I am done healing per the dr. My mother had the sleeve done a year ago, with out an eeg prior, and they also found a hernia and repaird it. -
How did you guys do on your pre op diet?
DisplacedYankee replied to Road2health's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am currently half way through my liquid diet and I am going bonkers. I am having about 4 shakes a day or 2 with one Isopure to hit my protein goal. I am not hungry but I have the super strong urge to munch. I had my first jello today so that helped for like 10 minutes. It also makes me wish I still had my E-Cig but that had to go as well. Maybe I should take up knitting or cross stitch to keep my hands busy!! -
I had like a last supper week, it was delightful. I think it made the first day of my liquid diet that much harder. I wasnt hungry but I had the urge to munch all day.

Self Pay, Hernia, and Complication Questions!
DisplacedYankee replied to AuDBall's topic in Insurance & Financing
I am self pay also. Just had my EEG yesterday and she found a small hernia. She said that she would fix it while doing my sleeve. We just switched insurance and am really hoping that they do not run the hernia repair under insurance since the new deductible is so high. I called the doctor and am waiting on the finance department to call back. -
Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?
DisplacedYankee replied to StephersSweet's topic in Rants & Raves
My mother had the sleeve a year ago. To be honest I was not super supportive at the time. After seeing how well she has done on it I am getting my sleeve on Tuesday. I regret not being more supportive at the time. Because of that the only people who know I am getting the sleeve is my mom, sister, husband and best friend. I am thankful that they are all but my sister are supportive. I also have a feeling my sister will next in line for the sleeve. Your reasons for doing this are your own and no one needs to know. -
Protein and water
DisplacedYankee replied to AsianBeauty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just found something called Isopure at my pre-op apt yesterday. It is like flavored water and has 40g of protein with zero carbs or sugar. I stocked up on them since I am getting my sleeve on Tuesday. They have a lot of flavors such as Lemon Tea, Apple Watermelon, Orange, ect.
