After 3 weeks I didn’t have any pain at all doing anything. As a matter of fact, besides the first couple of days after surgery, I didn’t really have any pain.

I’m an ED nurse that works 12 overnights. I went back to work 3 weeks after surgery and really didn’t have any issues getting in enough fluids. Anytime I was sitting and charting I would sip. Like someone already mentioned, the farther out from surgery you get the faster you can take in fluids. They actually move through your pouch fairly quickly. It seems daunting, but it is doable!!

my abdomen is going to explode

I had the same issue with spasms and gurgling right after surgery. My physician prescribed hycosamine, which is an anti-spasmodic, and it seemed to help. -
I can’t tolerate cold at all anymore and I used to be hot all the time before surgery!

Help, I’m losing my hair!
Jene Jene replied to Mytimenow17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It’s called telogen effluvium and occurs from experiencing abrupt metabolic or hormonal changes like weight loss surgery. Sometimes, despite your best efforts to prevent it, you can’t. You’ll just have to be patient and wait for it to stop. -
I’m almost 4 weeks post op and have a similar sensation. I figured it was nerves or something. I don’t notice it quite as much as the first couple of weeks.

Pre-op testing and nicotine
Jene Jene replied to hellonanax's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The nicotine test usually takes several days to result. If you haven’t had any nicotine containing products recently you should be fine. -
I was told by my dietician to look for whey protein isolate after surgery.

Emotional Rollercoaster

Me too. I started crying when my husband forgot to get me something from the grocery store. I seem to feel better when I make sure to take a daily walk though. -
Dry Skin After Skin

I’m two weeks post-op and am dealing with the same issue. I think it is related in some part to a decrease in water intake. -
I don’t see that spanx would be any different than an abdominal binder that some surgeons have their patients wear. If your comfortable while wearing it I’d say go ahead. You could always check with your surgeon too.

I’m finishing my BSN online. I just had surgery on 11/7. I’ve been able to keep up with most my school work but I did have to get an extension on one project. My surgeon says recovery is generally 2-4 weeks so I feel I’ll be ready to go back to work after 3 weeks. I’m an ED nurse and work 12 hour overnights. You have almost a month between surgery and when you start school so you might be just fine.

I just bought a pair of some type of athletic style leggings from Old Navy that are very nice and stay up over my belly.

Finally got my Surgery Date.
Jene Jene replied to rayb70's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm currently waiting for insurance approval! I hope to be able to schedule surgery for end of Oct or beginning of Nov. I bet it's a huge relief to finally have a date.
