Do you reward yourself for weight loss milestones?
rames767 replied to LisaB411's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I plan on buying myself a ring at 50 pounds lost and then taking a nice vacation when i reach my goal. -
I was banded on June 9th and had my first fill yesterday, July 9th. I opted for a numbing shot prior to the fill. I also hate needles, but it wasn't bad at all. They put in 2.6 cc's and had me make 2 more appointments- at 2 weeks and 4 weeks out. I'm on liquids for 2 days then soft for 2 days, then back to normal. I did notice some soreness in the port area last night, but it seems to be gone today.

If we aren't supposed to take any of the medicines listed, what can we take for a headache or cramps or whatever?

I live in DFW and was banded June 9th by Dr. Marsden. I go in tomorrow for the first fill.

I have one week of liquids and then one week of mushies. On week 3 my doctor wants me on solid foods. I get to start mushies tomorrow, woo hoo!

Thanks coolcrystal for the tips on Isopure. It is the only protein drink I've been able to get down so far. I highly recommend it- its like drinking Propel.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I go in Monday and am a bit nervous. Knowing what to expect helps tremendously. Keep us posted so we know what to expect next! Thanks Again.

Who's getting banded in June
rames767 replied to To be free's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am getting banded by Dr. Marsden on June 9th in Decatur TX. I'm on Day 2 of the pre-op diet. -
I am on Day 2 of my pre-op diet. I am allowed 2 protein shakes and 2 small meals per day. (by small i mean 6 oz lean meat and 1 serving of a green vegetable). I am having a really hard time with the protein drinks. I bought the FreshStart at the office- terrible, made me gag. I then tried a can of slimfast optima and could only get half down. I bought some Kashi protein shake mix last night, but this isn't working either. I haven't cheated, but I'm not getting all the protein in. Any suggestions? Do you think this will hurt my surgery? I'm willing to go hungry all week, but I haven't been able to choke down the shakes.

I will be banded by Dr. Marsden in Decatur TX on June 9th. I was never a NKOTB fan, but can imagine how painful they must be to watch now. It is nice to have an age-specific chat area.

Has anybody heard of the easyband and if so, anybody know how long it will be until it is available in the US?

Good, Bad, Ugly & Honest

It hasn't come to pass, they won't let me weigh in again until after the 18th to check. I guess it would look suspicious if I gained 5 pounds too quickly, but I will definitely let you know how it turns out. -
I have been very open about my hopes to get the surgery with friends, family and co-workers. However, I do believe it is a personal decision. Discussing your medical history (or future) with anyone other than medical professionals is completely up to you. Do what is right for you.

I have the same problem. In order for my insurance to pay, I was told I needed to be 5 pounds heavier. It just feels so wrong to try to GAIN weight. I've never been in this position before. -

I am in the same boat. My insurance won't cover unless I go to Decatur and stay the night in the hospital. How has your experience with aftercare been? How was the Wise Regional facility? Thanks in advance for your help. Amy
