Alright I'm new to the lingo, what does VSG mean?
-
@coyote does he have a brother? Can I jump through the computer and give you a very big hug?!?! No he's never said anything about my weight and he's been an amazing friend and we continue to get closer. I'm 100% focused on my goals right now so I'm not looking for any commitments. I got enough on my plate without dealing with boyfriend drama lol. It really does feel like that liking a bigger woman is considered a fetish more than anything, it makes it hard to really get attached to anyone.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?
StephersSweet replied to StephersSweet's topic in Rants & Raves
@Introversion I guess I don't want to hide the fact that I'm doing it. I want people to stop shaming for people for using WLS as a tool for success rather than continuing to call it the easy way out. -

StephersSweet replied to StephersSweet's topic in Rants & Raves
@Waler Yeah I try to explain it that way to them and for some reason it still always leads to an argument and more questions that just end up hurting my head. I feel like half the hard work is just dealing with the haters haha. -
Good luck to you as well @christysworld

I have 2 cats and 2 dogs... the cats are the same way could care less about my existence, the dogs however love me unconditionally and don't judge me at all lol

That's been one of the many reasons why I'm still single, I will not settle for anyone who doesn't love me the way I love me. lol Somedays I still struggle with that but it gets easier every day. Thank you for your words! <3

Girl I feel your pain ever since I started this new diet everyone and their brother is coming out of the woodwork like "Steph want a piece of candy, steph want to go grab a slice, steph I couldn't eat all my fries, want the rest?" Please god make it stoppppp!!!!!! lol. I'm terrified of the 9 week diet after surgery and pray that I'm strong enough to get through it when it's my turn. Every time I'm tempted I just remind myself in one short week of eating clean and changing my portions I lost 9 lbs and that pizza/candy/fry is not worth gaining it back.

Haha aint that the truth, I am talking to one guy who seems very interested in talking about my surgery as if he's writing a paper on the subject matter or something, it was super embarrassing because we went out for our first date and he starts asking me about the surgery and what happens if I end up with lose skin. I wasn't used to someone asking so many questions about it beyond the dreaded "why would you do something so drastic when all you need to do is go to the gym" because clearly WLS is the "easy" way out. I'm not worried about finding anything yet, right now I am 100% focused on me.

My Story: The Journey to Surgery
StephersSweet posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello my name is Stephanie, I mostly go by Steph or Stephers. I am a full time call center representative and a part time photographer in Brockport NY. I weighed the options of getting this surgery for a long time and finally went to a seminar June 19th 2017 which was the start of my journey towards getting the surgery. Since the seminar I ran into a two month lapse in coverage so I was unable to proceed with the process, luckily I got that fixed and I've now gone to the Nutrition Seminar on September 11th and my first appointment with a PA in the office September 19th. During that week after changing my diet to what the Nutritionist suggested I lost 9 lbs. So I'm feeling pretty good about my progress so far. I'm doing this surgery mainly because I have a genetic mutation that makes me highly susceptible to cancer, specifically: breast, cervical, and ovarian. Getting healthy is key to living my life to the absolute fullest and kicking cancers ass back to hell if it hits me. This week has been tough, I gave up coffee, and all junk food and have been very strict about the diet. The biggest issues I'm having are the caffeine and sugar withdrawals, and getting used to only sipping liquids and taking very small bites. I'm not sure why it's so hard for me just to slow down and take little bites when I'm eating, probably because I live a hectic life and taking 30 minutes out of my day to eat one meal doesn't seem to work so well but I am trying and I have noticed progress. Also I lost that nine pounds so that was super exciting. Anyway I'm looking forward to making friends here and reading all of your success stories. Also I'm writing a blog about this experience and I'd love to do some interviews with other patients. -
What is a non-food activity your REALLY looking forward to?

Top 10 bucket list after weight loss
StephersSweet replied to Tbird49's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I LOVE THIS IDEA! Here are my top 10 things! 10. Be able to sit in a booth at a restaurant without needing to push the table out or have my stomach be pressed tightly against it. My best friend always opts for booths and I loathe them due to my weight. 9. ROLLER COASTER! I love them and I hate that I haven't been able to go on one in so long. 8. Going to my 10 year High school reunion holding my head high and have everyone go... woah who is that woman? 7. Do a Marathon. 6. Skydiving. (I'm a thrill Junkie) 5. Get into some abandoned buildings for photography purposes. (Did I mention I'm a thrill junkie?) 4. Being picked up by a handsome buff man lol 3. I want to do those adult go kart things with my friends. I always have to sit out because of the current shape of my body. 2. Doing an escape room. Those look like so much fun but some of them are tight spaces. 1. This is my number one thing that I have to do no matter WHAT! Swim with great white sharks!!!!!!! -

I've actually heard that from a lot of people so far. I have a few friends at work who are also getting surgery and they opted for the sleeve as well, when I asked them why they said the same thing that the bigger surgery scared them. -

I feel your pain when it comes to the staring part. It makes me so mad. I opted for it because it has a high weight loss and keeping it off success rate. -
