Glad to hear you are doing so well what fantastic results, very inspirational. I am trying not to be impatient and just enjoy losing weight but I cant wait for goal! Has gone up a bit in NZ 21.5 k cost about 13k in Malaysia with flights and accommodation for the week. The bit Iiked about this surgeon was his ideas on pre-op diet - no licquid prep and only 3 days post op.

Hi all nice to see an NZ forum albeit not very active. Much more Americans on the main forums than anywhere else! I had my sleeve in Malaysia it was at least 10k more in NZ and I am self pay. So glad I went to Malaysia was amazing, so professional and no regrets at all. I even had a sort of holiday it was so easy. A holiday without food! Feeling great so far and so excited to be on my way😃

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?

When is your surgery? I am sure you can't wait. You will find it such a great tool as your friend suggests. I am finding it so wonderful to have a control over my intake I never had and look forward to stopping the yo-yo nightmare. Health I agree is the most important thing of all!

You know you lost weight when

Very early days for me but people have started saying there is something different about me! I just smile sweetly. For the first time in my life i can't wait for the days to go by I remember so well that feeling when you know you are putting on weight and it is such a heavy growing sort of yuck feeling. Now is the opposite a sort of lightening feeling without even looking at the scales.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?

I told only my sister as she had a bypass a while back and it essentially reversed her diabetes and saved her life - she was in and out of hospital with obesity related health issues and spent most of her life in a chair watching TV before the surgery. I did not want to go down the same path and already had BP and small mobility issues. It turns out very easy to explain WL thus far as it is only early days but I make it well known I am on a 'Health Kick' - ha ha nothing new there must have done this hundreds of times over the years! I also say I am really focusing on portion size. People don't seem to notice what you eat if you don't draw attention to it. My Dr does not advocate liquid diets either pre or post op past the first 3 days so it was really easy to appear normal. As a relatively low BMI (34) to start with, I know I would have got a lot of negativity - besides I am a very private person and don't feel the need to share this. I have this forum now to turn to and enjoy reading the different stories. I am sure people would say it was a cop out to have WLS or question me as to why I didn't just suck it up and lose weight alone. Well I have done this so many times before and each time I do I put it all back on and more and to be honest weight control has been in control of me almost all my life! I am a self pay and every cent is worth it so far - I agonised for months over the decision to do this and I am so glad I did.

    September 2017 Gastric Sleeve Surgery!

It seems that the different surgeons have such different approaches and I guess we need to follow them. Mine thinks the sooner that real food is introduced the better and I was sure happy with that. In fact he was very against liquid diets. From Day 15 I am to be on pretty much a regular diet just small amounts and to trial foods slowly. So far this has worked fine with me and I can tolerate small amounts. Still feeling great. But as I said each one is different and probably each of our surgeries as well :-)
  7. One day is definitely enough in my opinion. I had surgery at 6pm and was up showered, dressed, on minimal pain meds and drinking the following morning (only30 mls an hr but no problem).

    September 2017 Gastric Sleeve Surgery!

Where are you having your surgery? I am way down in New Zealand, got accepted here for surgery (self pay) but chose to go to Malaysia as there was a world renowned surgeon and the whole package was cheaper including flights and accommodation . I arrived the day before surgery and had all the preop testing, amazing screening of everything - from echo cardiogram, x-rays, ultra sounds and blood tests. So professional. 2 nights in hospital but on the first morning post op after 6pm surgery I was up and about and minimal pain meds, drinking straight away 30mls per hour and on a soft diet from day 3. I was out in KL shopping by day 4 and flew home on day 6. I am still buzzing with excitement at starting the weight loss and just not being hungry. I know everyones experience is different but I just need to share a positive one. Drove my self mad watching utube videos pre op with all the scary stories!
