No nonsense approach to weight loss

Count me in for the no bulls*it approach. I don't count calories but I do a rough total in my head. I do monitor my portion size because that’s part of the reason I got fat in the first place! I weigh stuff but stick to the manufacturers recommended portion size. I eat 3 meals a day and I also have a snack once a day. But I eat what I want! I want chocolate I eat chocolate, if I want salad I eat a salad. I have never had a protein shake and am in no hurry to give them a try! I have lost 33lbs since June including my pre op diet so my approach is working for me.
  2. I felt really good after my op to! Just really calm and happy almost serene. I was sleepy, more uncomfortable than in pain as such. My friends all came to see me the day after and we went to the local pub for a drink (I had water) but still felt amazing! I am just really happy since I had it done, I was a touch miserable when I got my first fill it was just a touch to much in the band for me. But they took it out and now I am really happy again, weight is steadily coming off no complaints here! Long may your high continue! Have a good day KiKi XX

    Ugh, MEN!!!

I have to say I have dated some very odd men, there was the one I met online we lived close to one another had a conversation about where we livied and he started showing up at my house! Oh and there was the one that stared at me without blinking throughout the whole date that was somewhat creepy. The list goes on but you get the jist! I feel your pain! K X
  4. I second the baby oil works a treat.

What did you eat on 1st day of solids??

Hi There, I liked homemade egg mayo on rice cakes! I am veggie and don't eat fish so it was a good way to get in Protein for me. And it saves really well in the fridge! I can give you my recipie if you like  K X
  7. Hey PJD, I know what you mean when I had 1.5 in I felt uncomfortable all the time, I felt like a weight had been lifted when they took out the extra .5. I was able to eat after about 30mins or so I had solid food. The weird thing was I was more hungry with more fluid in I guess due to the fact that my body was not getting enough food. Also I noticed I had started to pick "slider" foods high in calories but go through easy. I was so relived when they took out the extra fluid! Also I had been having heart burn pretty much since the fill that went away pretty much instantly after they took out the extra fluid. Feel free to PM me PJD if you need to have a bit of a moan XX
  8. On the flip side of the coin I had restriction before I had my first fill, I did not get my first fill till about 7 weeks. I got 1.5ml but have had to have 0.5 taken out I am really happy at 1ml Just for everyone that was worried they might have to wait months for restriction. Everyone is diffrent which makes life all the more interesting

    Do I need a fill?

I was in the same boat as you I got to six weeks and was still having restriction and was happy with the amount I could and could not eat. I went along to my fill appointment and my Dr put in 1.5ml of fluid. This was too much for me and a week later I had to have 0.5ml taken out. When they took out just that little bit of fluid i noticed an imidiate diffrence and I felt like a weight had been lifted, so I would say listen to your body if you don't think you need it don't get it wait till you do need it!
  10. Hello Ladies and Gents, How many of us have bought a pair of trousers that you have not tried on first??? My trousers that I did not try on came from Ebay, I bought them for work but they were beyond tight so I relegated them to the back of the wardrobe! I tried them on now and again but they never fitted and then I really starting putting on weight. Any way it’s near laundry day and all my regular trousers are getting a bit big, pulls out the abandoned trousers and low and behold they fit perfectly! SCORE! Now wearing said trousers! Whoop Whoop! KiKi XX Hope you are all having a good day!

    Hi Everyone..Newbie from UK

Hi there I had mine on the NHS! Good Luck and best wishes KiKi XX
  12. It important to remember everyone is diffrent, I can quite happily eat Pasta, Rice (even Sushi - take it very slow and chew well) any veg I fancy fruit the only thing that sticks for me is bread even toasted , but some people are able to eat bread with no problems. I don't eat meat or fish (I get the veggie sushi) so have no experience to share with you on that front. I love the lap band even with NO fill it still works for me I am tempted to ask my fill doctor to not put any in on my appointment on Tue. I try and stay away from junk like crisps (chips if ur from the USA) and chocolate and sweets I try and get my 5 portions of fruit and veg a day and drink 1.5Litre of water. Although if I really fancy something I will have it but in moderation. I really feel like the lapband has set me free from food it's not the be all and end all now. Keeping busy also helps with keeping the food demons at bay! I am setting up a small business with my Mum which I would never have done before the Op and all of my frinds have noticed how much calmer I have become, I don't carry round that self loathing from food addiction any more. Best thing I ever did FACT XX
  13. My food plan advised soft food from the get go, I had very soft mashed potato and mashed veg, youghurt basically anything soft. Speak to your doctor is the best bet see if he is happy for you to have some mash or what have you hope you feel better soon K X

    hello from London

Shoulder pain really sounds awful you have my commiserations! I have a fair amount to loose I started out at about 127 and a bit kg I have not really pondered where I want to get down to I just take every day at a time my first mini goal is a size 18 which I hope to achieve by Xmas. 6kg is also very good mine weight loss is more in fits and starts some weeks I hardly lose anything other weeks it just seems to drop off lol I only weigh once a week though I think given the nature of the operation we had done it would be easy to get a bit obsessive with weighing I don't own any scales I go the the local health clinic once a week. I do get hungry but I still have some restriction I still can't eat bread. I am back to normal food, I am veggie so don't have meat to contend with. I can quite happily eat rice, pasta, any veg potatoes quorn, sushi I can eat about a kids portion of food which I am happy with but that may well change after the fill. K XX

    A gross question

No acid just slime and chewed food, I don't know about anyone else but if I am sick it seems to go on forever, like 30 mins or so it's happened twice to me and quite frankly I do whatever is in my power to never have it happen again! It's an awful experience!

    1st fill... and im happy!

Hey thanks for letting us know how it went, I have my first fill next week I am not really sure I need it as am still losing weight at a steady rate but if I do get one nice to know its going to be ok  K X
  21. DO you have MSN? You can question me till your hearts content on there if you like?
  22. No problem I am more than happy to help wherever I can! You are exactly 1 month behind me I had mine lapband fitted on the 12th June. I had my dressings checked at about 1 week but my docs has a drop in clinic and its literally on my doorstep, I took the dressings of after about 7 to 8 days and let the steri strips fall off of their own accord which to be fair was about a day later lol X
  23. Hi Sallieanne, I showered the next day but my dressings had a waterproof cover on them mybe you could buy some of the waterproof things from the chemist? I did not have thrombosis socks though so can't help you there. The steri strips peel off if you get them wet though I have a skin allergy to whatever they put in the glue for the dressing so mine itched as well lol. How you feeling 5 days post op?

    No-no list, please!

Hi there, I still eat rice and Pasta quite happily. Rice I have to take slow or it gets stuck and I struggle more with brown rice than white rice. I can use straws no problem but it was tricky for a couple of weeks out of surgery. Bread seems to get stuck very easily though even if I toast it. Hope that helps! K
