  1. This thread is really helpful. I've been thinking a lot about what will take the place of eating as a go-to self-soothing activity. I'm expected to lose some weight before surgery, so I've been using this time to try out different things. Tonight I had to ask my husband to stop talking about politics, because it was making me anxious and I kept thinking about how much I wanted to make a sandwich. (so weird that this is my first response to stress). Now I'm doing my nails. I used to knit, which could be good for after dinner when I am most prone to recreational eating. I also like the idea of doing odd jobs around the house. I'm busy during the day and exercise then too, but after dark is when I really struggle.

Surgery and wearing a girdle/waist training

Hi, this is the first time I've heard of wearing a body shaper after surgery. Does this help with skin issues later?

    Combatting Loose Skin

I don't have an answer to this, but I share your question. I know retinol and vitamin C serum have been shown to stimulate collagen growth and reduce wrinkles etc. on peoples' faces - has anyone tried using them on other skin likely to be problematic during weight loss, like tummy and arms?

Is there where I introduce myself?

I love Pt. Bonita! The Headlands are just so beautiful.

Hi - I'm totally new here too! I just signed up today. My surgery is schedules for December of this year, so I start a diet tomorrow to start losing weight before the surgery. I used to live in the Bay Area (SF, then Oakland, then SF, 20 years total) - absolutely loved it there! If you're able to exercise, its a great place to be active. I don't know a lot about arthritis, but it sounds like it could make it difficult to do anything too high impact. Is walking/hiking doable?
