Can you or anyone tell me what the Shirataki noodles are like? I bought some from BP store, but I've been too scared to try them! I worry that they will be slimy 😝

I cannot live without my frother! I use the Almond Breeze unsweetened. Sometimes the mixture is not thick enough, but normally that brand is really really good at frothing.

    Vegetarian post op meals

Just wanted to add... curries are wonderful and really easy to make and you can make it for the whole family, just skip the rice at first. Use tofu, a few sliced almonds and a bit of protein powder to ramp the protein aspect up.
  5. The first thing out of my mother in law's mouth when I told her I was having surgery (and this was in front of her husband and mine) was 'oh, what are you going to do with all that skin?!'. Who says that?? hahahaha

Is this for Anna or me? If it's for me I can't do protein shakes - couldn't from the start and can't now either. Had to completely skip (approved by my surgeon) that phase! lol.

    Vegetarian post op meals

I'm vegetarian (have been for 49 years) - I did as JRT Mom says and at first had refried beans, eggs, cheese, etc. I also made the famous ricotta bake that's on this site somewhere. I eat Quorn for protein, beans, etc. Check out the thread, I think it's in General, called something like 'before and after'. There are tons of meals in there to take inspiration from.
  8. You have already stated SEVERAL times how you feel - you have made your point. This thread is for people who would like to talk about their slow weight loss. How many times do you have to be asked to stop putting forward your opinions? Go and make your own thread about your viewpoints. People can b***h and moan as much as they want - it's not up to you to tell them they can't.
  9. The funny thing is... some people are OK with losing slowly and there's actually nothing wrong with that. This thread is for those people who want to talk about their journey while losing SLOWLY. For the people who insist on coming on here and trying to prove their points about why people are losing slow, blah blah blah... please stop now. I would love to come on to this thread and talk about my weight loss journey, but I feel like I'm going to have a few weight loss know it alls jump down my throat. I don't need someone telling me how to lose - I'm doing it. SLOWLY.
  10. I had sleeve surgery (which failed due to a leak) in Sept '17. I was 365 before surgery - I lost 80 lbs. By the time I went for my bypass revision I was up to over 300 again. I had the bypass last year in February and I'm now down to 239. It's slow for me too... I have PCOS. I am perimenopausal. I have a lifetime of bad ways of eating to deal with, but I am losing and I intend on carrying on even if it's slow. Like Dory says... Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. Now if I falter, it's not the end of the world. I continue to analyse what I'm doing and make corrections. I know that you posted this a while ago, but I hope this helps. It looks like you are doing an amazing job! Just keep swimming!

You look gorgeous Anna! It's so great to hear that a lot of you have got to goal - well done! I know that for a lot of you some of the work has only just begun in a way - figuring out your new way of eating and new thinner brains. I still have a long way to go and even though I only put on a pound over christmas, I managed to put on a bit more when I was sick. I had been sick with a chest thing since Thanksgiving, with a week off over Christmas itself before I got another sinus type cold. For some reason it just made me super hungry and I put on a total 3 lbs (normally over Christmas I would have put on about 10 lbs). For some reason, in my mind, this 3 lbs feels like 20 lbs. My brain is still learning that putting on 3 lbs is not the end of the world and I don't just give up at this point - that is where I failed at 'dieting' EVERY time. This really is a process I have to say... so much headwork. For example, before Christmas I ordered 6 tubes of this pate stuff I used to eat when I lived in the UK. I loved having it on toast. Well... I still loved it and I ate 3 of the tubes over Christmas. I managed to talk to my stupid brain and told it that I was NOT going to be able to just save it and eat it like a normal human being, so it had to go. I squeezed it all out and threw it in the bin. My fat brain screamed in horror, but the thinner part of my brain felt empowered. God I loved that stuff. Anyway, enough of my rambling. I still have at least 60 lbs to lose and so I cannot afford to just stop now, even though I keep faltering. I keep telling myself 'just one foot in front of the other - don't give up'. I really really want this.

Sheribear - that's great! Well done. Can you believe we're nearly coming up to a year? This thread has been so great to have and I hope that we can keep it going for another year. How is everyone doing??
  13. Hi Stefani - what food stage are you on now? I think typically people are off of the shakes by now and on to soft foods. The shakes are good for the first stage after surgery to get that protein in, but after that it can be quite calorific and you should be getting your protein from more dense foods. Try not to get too disheartened. From what I have found, weight loss can come in fits and starts and sometimes there is no rhyme nor reason. Just stick with the plan and take it day by day and you will be fine x
  14. So you don't think that a life time of bad habits, ways of thinking, periods, menopause, various hormonal ailments, childbirth, various abuses that people suffer, genetics, medications, etc etc etc have any factor? Holy ****, you should write a book on this because you might be on to a winner. You would make a mint. (That was a rhetorical question btw - not going to discuss this anymore. You made your scientific point and it's up to whoever to take that on board or not.)
  15. Actually, I did not lose it in 12 months. I had sleeve surgery in 2017 - had a leak and was in hospital for 3 months, lost some. Gained a lot back. Had Bypass surgery in February. Have lost and gained and lost again. As for 'fake news'... Do you really believe that everyone loses at the same rate regardless of age, gender, genetics? Really? I'm not sure your science holds up. But, at the end of the day, you have you ask yourself at some point... is it better to be right or kind? You have proven your point and made sure people know you are right. Now it's time to be kind. Whether it is physical or mental, there are people who lose slowly and you have made your point on the scientific aspect of this. Now it's time for you to let people talk about what they want and need to talk about as part of THEIR weight loss journey. You do your journey and let others do theirs.
  16. I'm a slow loser too. I have a lifetime of a mindset to work against, a body that just doesn't like to give up weight easily and I'm getting older. But, the one thing I have figured out is to not give up. To the people who have jumped in to this thread to prove their points about science... can you now leave it at that and move on? I think the point has been made.
  17. Been thinking about your situation and I'm just wondering what your aunt and other family members think of your mother's behaviour? How do they justify it? Is she getting dementia?
  18. p.s. you might want to start with this one https://youtu.be/7dPAklBFyXs
  19. She sounds like a narcissist. They are toxic people. There’s a great channel on YouTube that has helped me a lot. I’ve found that if you know WHO you are dealing with it’s easier to have compassion and understanding for yourself and them. Though my narcissist still manages to shock me at times... Anyway - check this channel out and see if this fits. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIELB1mz8wMKIhB6DCmTBlw

Ugh, I only put on a pound over Christmas but since then I've come down with some kind of bug that is making me very tired and hungry! So now I've put on a total of 3 pounds. So annoying. I know I should just replace the foods I'm snacking on with good ones, but old habits... Why is it that some cold bugs just make you want to eat? Or is it in my head?

    Coffee

I drank coffee days after my surgery - doc said it was fine. There’s only so much I can give up and I love my coffee.

You are definitely in the best hands. When he says you can text him... you really can. He gives you his cell phone number and he will reply.

    Stomach leaks

That’s so funny... Dr Snyder is my surgeon and I recommend him in a pm to Cathy. He is the best of the best and saw me through my difficult time. Poor man... I was his first (and hopefully only) leak. After my surgery he actually revised how he did the sleeve. Great man - I actually texted him today to thank him for everything.
