February 2019 weight loss buds
froufrou replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think I figured out the restriction during pms vs restriction after. I think I was going for slider foods and carbs! I just ate a Quorn veggie pattie and there's definite restriction! I must pay more attention. -
February 2019 weight loss buds
froufrou replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congrats to you guys who have broken through a barrier! Great news! My weekend is going ok... just a hormonal blip going on here haha. I'm just trying to eat sensibly and get through it. What amazes me though is that when I have PMS I don't have the same restriction as normal. Can anyone explain that? I can understand having more hunger, but I'm talking physical restriction. -
I gained EIGHTEEN pounds of water weight - don't worry, it'll come off!

HELP: Gaining Weight After Only 6 months from MGB
froufrou replied to MGBinIsrael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That's great you have tried some other things! However, personally I would skip the shake and the soup - both are sliders and my surgeon and nutritionist say not to have these after 6 weeks. I bet if you replaced them with some dense protein, you'd feel fuller for longer. Also, instead of just having just a boiled egg, maybe bulk it out and make scrambled egg (add in extra egg white) with a bit of cheese and some vegetables on the side or a small salad. Instead of the soup, make the beans into a chili type dish. Add in vegetables, some soy or meat if you eat it, a sprinkle of cheese on top. Have half to one cup of it and see how it feels. It's all about getting creative and trying to fill yourself up with good filling proteins. It'll stabalise your blood sugars and make you feel satiated. -
Hang in there. You will be ok. It's just going to take a bit more time. It's a real shock to your system when you find out that things didn't go to plan and you have so many questions going around your head... why me, why did I do this, could I have done something to prevent this, etc etc. Unfortunately it's just the luck of the (crappy) draw Big hugs to you. It's really hard, but try to give in to it right now and just let your body heal. You're just taking the scenic route ❤️

HELP: Gaining Weight After Only 6 months from MGB
froufrou replied to MGBinIsrael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nobody on here is anti carb - these are clearly healthy foods however they will spike your blood sugar and leave you wanting more and leave you crashing very shortly after. Not to mention they also slide through your pouch. The solid advice given to us by bariatric surgeons is to eat dense protein first before anything else. -
HELP: Gaining Weight After Only 6 months from MGB
froufrou replied to MGBinIsrael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Can I ask you... do you want help? You seem to be genuinely asking for help in your first post but you seem very resistant when people are giving you incredibly sound and knowledge based advice. I bet if you followed the advice of eating dense proteins and giving up the sugar spiking (though healthy unprocessed) carbs, you'd start see results. Why not give it a try? -

It is SO annoying! Normally I don't feel hungry until midday, but during PMS I am hungry when I wake up and last thing at night. I guess we just have to roll with it. -

This has been really good for me to see. I am vegetarian and I have a tendency to fill up on carbs, but I can totally see how easy it is to do. I'm going to try to get more protein in my diet too - carbs spike your blood sugar and then you have a blood sugar drop, which is how you get that hungry feeling. You end up constantly chasing that high. I find it very easy to slip in to that cycle. -

Omg, back up 2 lbs! Ladies, do you find that your cycle really messes things up? The week leading up seems to see me put on some weight AND not only do I get hungrier, I actually seem to have less restriction. Have any other ladies noticed this too? -
Week after surgery and I'm struggling

When I had protein (which was actually not for very long) I used plant based. I couldn't stomach the whey. -
That's amazing! What a gorgeous picture too.

awww Thanks! Yes, I do feel proud inside. They are really big things for me that help me feel just a bit more like I'm living in the 'normal' world haha. Definitely looking forward to the next thing!

I have three I can think of: - this weekend I went swimming with my daughter and I used the ladder to get out of the pool instead of the gradual entry! I haven't been able to do that for years. - I didn't wake up my daughter with my snoring at our hotel! A plus for both of us because she would end up waking me up to tell me I had woken her up. - I have moved out of the morbidly obese range to just obese now haha

If you need an idea for something to sip on, the Zero Vitamin Water is a lifesaver... drink it cold. It's great. This is a really hard stage to be in - you are hungry, depleted in energy and most likely a bit depressed. It will get better even though it feels like it won't. Hang in there!

What, you had NO surgery complications?
froufrou replied to Healthy_life2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sept ‘17 2.5 months in hospital after my sleeve due to leak - 5 further ops to fix it. Sleeve failed and I put on 29 lbs of the 80 I lost. Feb ‘19 - possible structure though I’m trying really hard to deal with it. Lost the 29 lbs I gained and a little more. There are days I feel good and days I feel like crap. We’ll have to see how this all turns out but I can say for sure that our family (especially my girl who has autism and was without me for 2.5 months) has been through it. I’m hoping this is it now - with the new surgery, the thousands invested and more importantly my effort. -

February 2019 weight loss buds

Did something really stupid yesterday. I went to see a movie with my daughter, and we had a huge tub of popcorn and I ate a ton of it. It did not give me any problems going down or staying down! However, in the night I had stomach ache, which I'm glad about because I needed some payback! Not going to be doing that again. I thought I'd blown my diet (that's how I always feel when I mess up, and it's a dangerous place for me to be in as it's normally the point that I give up on dieting), but this morning I stepped on the scales and had lost another 2 lbs. This is either dehydration from all of the salt in the popcorn, or I just got lucky this time. I hope it's the latter. The great news about the weight loss is that it now puts me in the 'obese' catagory BMI-wise! I haven't been out of the morbidly obese range in YEARS. -
Eating for the first time did NOT go well!
froufrou replied to Jezzabelle360's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm nearly 7 weeks out and I still find it hard to tolerate eggs - they are really hard to chew into a mush, which is what I have learnt the hard way that we need to do before swallowing. I would give those a break for now until later and then revisit it to see how you do. Right now at your phase I'd be sticking with things like refried beans, yoghurt, etc. -

I'm finally on the move again. Broke through the elusive 280 barrier, which took a gastric sleeve AND a bypass to do! -

I'm hopeful I have turned a corner... I felt it last night. Suddenly felt my energy come back and something was different. I have kept my food down for 24 hours. The weird thing is, my Seroma healed up, finally, yesterday too. Not sure how that can be linked, but I just feel better today. -

Yes, probably an endoscopy with a balloon to stretch my tubes. I am SO tired of this and like @Recidivist I am regretting having the surgery now. I have till Monday to figure this out - otherwise I will have to go in. -
@GreenTealael - I'm an idiot - totally missed your post earlier. I blame it on my computer that keeps not loading things properly!
