February 2019 weight loss buds
froufrou replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It can go on for years - I'm 49 now and I've been going through peri menopause for so long. I think I'm in the final stretch! lol! -
I've had it and I think for me it's trapped air and a bit of constipation. That area is where the splenic flexure is. I still get it now and then.

Great job Anna! I'm losing again - about a pound a day, which over time averages out at about l.5 lbs a week. It's so weird how it just stops for a while and then it's like a release. The trick is hanging on while the stall happens and not get discouraged. The wonderful thing is that I can't over eat even if I wanted to right now. Restriction is still there. I'm now a total of 112 lbs down (sleeve and bypass), 50 lbs down from bypass AND I am 6 lbs away from matching the weight on my driver's license! hahaha I have another 75 lbs to go till my goal weight! I can't quite believe it... I can actually see it on the horizon now. -
What did you do with your old clothes and pictures after weight loss surgery success
froufrou replied to Summer56's topic in The Gals' Room
Donated some of my things to ARC - that's a great charity (they provide free advocate services to people with learning disabilities etc) and then I am going to ebay some of my pieces to raise some money for new clothes! -
New Science About PCOS and Possible Hope for Future
froufrou replied to FluffyChix's topic in The Gals' Room
So all those doctors who told me again and again, when I was in my early 20s, that I caused my PCOS by being overweight were full of s... Not only did the doctors say it, but it was believed by the general public too. I'm glad that the latest generation of young women hopefully won't face that kind of prejudice. -
I am switching to pureed food most likely on Monday and wondered if the following foods ok? - oatmeal (made with splenda, sugar free apple sauce and cinnamon) - hummus - applesauce -egg salad (if mashed up very well) - cauliflower mash If you could let me know, that would be great.

I think we all suffer from a bit of dysmorphia - it's so hard to see the progress how others see you. Well done for your hard work! You are looking great! -

Big hugs to our February group. I was going through this a couple of weeks ago... really challenging. I've managed to move through it now and am back on track. I hope that you can all do the same. Deep breaths... you can do it. -

We are surgery twins! Plus we both have kids with autism! Sounds like you are doing an amazing job 🙌 -
B side - Mental health not good. Dealing with a child who has autism and a husband who sleeps in bed on Saturdays till 1.30pm is just too much for me right now along with trying to take care of myself. I feel like a pressure cooker about to explode.

Goal # 1 - To be more forgiving of myself and try to move past some of the 'old stuff' that's coming up as a result of weight loss and then let it go... for good. Goal # 2 - Find a therapist. How am I feeling at the moment? - I feel a bit bruised emotionally. Last night was not great - was faced with old feelings of self loathing, but I'm able to identify it better now. I was able to take myself off to bed and realise that what I was doing was serving no purpose. It's just an old habit that needs to be broken. I have chosen to forgive myself and move on.

I ate more than usually can... not sure why. I had a grilled cheese sandwich I feel dreadful now. It's just shown me I need to get some help for this. Must find a therapist. -

Having a hard time tonight - triggered by a lifetime of old emotions... went straight to eating I'm so sad about it. I guess there's still emotional work to do. -

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
froufrou replied to Alvinchicago's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
For anyone who is doing some serious research and comes across this thread... you will find that Gastric surgery is not cosmetic surgery. It's not a quick fix. It's a tool - a very good one - to help you get to where you need to be. But, just like a bicycle you have to use leg power on, you have to put in the work. It can be slow, it can be frustrating, it can feel like an uphill battle at times, but my goodness... the rewards are amazing. I have just donated 5 bags of clothes and have another 5 bags to put on Ebay. -
I am starting to think that perhaps I have an ulcer - I'm just wondering if it needs to be diagnosed with an endoscopy, or can the surgeon figure it out without one?
-
It sounds like you and I have very similar issues Frustr8!

After taking a dose of Prilosec, I actually had a solid night of sleep! I also kept my food down yesterday. I am really hoping that after a course of the Prilosec, I'll be back to normal. The only question now is... why did the Gastric doc let me go without prescribing medication? hmmm.
-
oh wow, I was asked if they could use me too! Normally I'm ok but not when it involves 'downstairs' haha
-
I had both - sleeve first (failed due to leak) and then RNY. No gallbladder - was taken out back in 1994, so bile just flows through me, apparently? Not sure if that has any significance. I have been MISERABLE since RNY to be honest, but chugging along. I could manage the throwing up, but not the onset of pain in the last week. Then I remembered the report I was given after the endoscopy... Chronic Gastritis and polyps. Had a biopsy - negative. I have a history of B12 deficiency - apparently that can cause Chronic Gastritis too. I don't know! I'm trying the Prilosec and then I have an appointment on June 18th with my surgeon.

I think perhaps the pain I have been experiencing at night is Gastritis - I was told I have Chronic Gastritis after the endoscopy I had before my RNY. From everything I'm reading, I should have had some kind of medication, so I went and got some prilosec and I THINK it may be working already. I can't imagine anymore what it must be like to eat something nutritious and keep it down! -
Looking the nurse in the eye after she'd put in the catheter... Oh the indignance! This thread just brought back those memories 😂
