Post op weight loss question
JRT Mom replied to Sandigirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you don't have a lot to lose it won't come off as dramatically, but it sounds incredible to me--32 pounds!! -

1st post-op surgeon's office visit?
JRT Mom replied to Slimming Down Steve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Three weeks which suited me fine since I live 4 hours away from my surgeon. -
I was allowed small curd cottage cheese and ricotta cheese the second week after my surgery.

Side effect and skin sagging
JRT Mom replied to Girlwithadream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
girlwithadream- The skin sagging varies from person to person and is definitely age related. If you are young your skin will be more elastic and snap back better. But it is a small price to pay for being a healthier weight! -
The liquid stage is the worst. You just want to CHEW something! Once you get to the mushies stage it gets easier. Until then sugar free popsicles are great! And jello--even if you normally hate it it tastes pretty good! Mushies--refried beans are great--drizzle a little taco sauce on them. Ricotta cheese with a bit of no sugar added spaghetti sauce. Eggs with a little salsa are great. I'm gonna have to stop--I'm making myself hungry! You are doing great!
-
Take ricotta cheese and drizzle some no sugar added spaghetti sauce on it. Yum! here's how to eat slowly...take a very small bite, about the size of an almond. Chew it thoroughly, about 20 seconds, swallow and put your fork down. Don't take the next bite until a full minute later. That way it should take you at least 15 minutes to eat. You definitely don't want to push your sleeve too soon--if you pop any stitches it is a MAJOR problem.

4 MONTHS AND 115LBS GONE - feeling confident about my future!!
JRT Mom replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Superman! You are super, man!! -
I have yo-yoed my whole life since my mother put me on amphetamines when I was 12. I even got a lap band over 10 years ago and it was great--until it wasn't (slippage, hiatal hernia development). Then I got an RNY a bit over a month ago and lost 20 pounds in the first three weeks! It's not a magic bullet, and you will not get to your goal without some work, but you WILL lose weight. And you have lots of good resources here to help you with your journey. Like the little sidebar says, people on this forum have collectively lost over 5 million pounds!

How often do others weigh themselves?
JRT Mom replied to Binglebug1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will eventually get to the point where I weigh only once a week. Since I'm only one month out from my RNY I've been weighing every three days. Always first thing in the morning, and always buck nekkid. -
One month out--don't have a sign yet. I measure out one half cup of food and eat it slowly til it's gone. Sometimes I eat a few bites of something and it just doesn't taste good so I stop eating, but it's not a matter of fullness. I'm hoping I develop a sign!

I don't have a DS I have a bypass. I'm a vegetarian, NOT a vegan (I use dairy and eggs). So far nothing has bothered me. You probably are already taking B12 supplements, multivitamins and calcium? Getting enough protein might be a challenge for you, especially if you won't use whey isolate. I eat tofu, beans, lentils, eggs, cheese and peanut butter for my protein source. My dietician knows about my food choices and says it can be easily done for a vegetarian. Hopes this helps some.

CALLING ALL MEN !!!! CALLING ALL MEN!
JRT Mom replied to november11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my favorite thread. Every one of you was handsome before the weight loss but afterward--WHOOOO!! Somebody call the Fire Department because y'all are SMOKIN'!! -
What a wonderful NSV! I'll bet the kids loved it. You didn't eat any of the gelt, did you?😁

Hi Shyree! What a beautiful name. Welcome! Here's the thing. It's gonna seem like it takes FOREVER for all the pre-op hoops you gotta jump through. Then suddenly they'll give you a surgery date and you'll go "AAAAACK!! THAT'S TOO SOON"! So you sorta break the laws of physics because it'll go fast and slow at the same time. But hang in there and it WILL happen. Keep us posted on how it's going.

There's a bar under the BariatricPal logo that should have your user name when you are logged in. A drop down menu should pop up when you click on your name. One of the choices on the menu is "my surgery". You can enter your info there. Now you can answer me a question...how do you put a picture in for your icon? I just have the letter "J" and haven't been able to figure out how to put a picture in.

Wow, the things I learn on BariatricPal...🤣

I wish there was a pill we could take called "Stall-B-Gone"...I'm one month out from surgery and dropped 22 pounds the first three weeks. Now at the end of the fourth, I've lost none. NONE! I haven't cheated, I'm eating about 600 calories a day, and I know I'm burning something because my ketostix are still turning purple when I pee on them. I know this happens, but physiologically it seems impossible. I know I just have to wait it out, but it's soooooo frustrating! If you watch "My 600 Pound Life" you see these poor people who claims they haven't cheated, and Dr Nowzaradan rips them a new one and says "call the Nobel Committee you are creating mass from nothing". I used to watch and say "Yeah, right" but now I know that it CAN happen!

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE ISSUE WITH CARBONATED DRINKS??? & other questions!
JRT Mom replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said I could drink carbonated drinks two months after surgery. One month to go! He said just to sip it slowly. -
I had them both done in one surgery, and had a hiatal hernia repair also. I would want to do it in one surgery--less hospital time and anaesthesia risk. My surgeon likes to do them in one shot if you are going band to bypass. He said it was difficult to go from band to sleeve and usually splits those up.
