My surgery is soon but I cannot stand the taste of protein shakes is there anything else I can drink to get proper protein?
JRT Mom replied to HLsleeve's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Look into Isopure Zero Carb protein drinks. They are not thick and cloying like the shakes are, they are fruity and go down much easier. Plus one 20 oz bottle has 40 grams of protein. No, I don't work for them--😁 -
A lot of what you are feeling right now is probably hormonal in nature--the RNY can wreak havoc on them. You didn't say in your post how long ago your surgery was, but I think many of us had "buyer's remorse" and wondered why we did this. But PLEASE hang in there, talk to your therapist, and remember we care and are rooting for you. The scars and the pain will fade, and remember your kids--this should give you a long healthy life with them!

I think the forum computer does that. I typed s--h--i--t once, and it added the same asterisk. I guess our virginal eyes will explode if we read cuss words.👰 -
AggiG, you look so much younger in your "after" picture. Good job!

I work in a hospital lab and in the old days we measured potassium on an instrument called a flame photometer. As the name implies, there is fire involved. Well, we were having trouble getting the flame lit, and as I was looking down the instrument to see if there were any blockages my coworker tried yet again to light the flame. Well, a HUGE fireball exploded right in my face. Burnt off my eyebrows and eyelashes without burning my skin. So I am familiar with that burnt hair smell. This happened about 40 years ago, and I can still remember the way my eyebrows smelled!

21 DAYS SINCE MY RNY AND MY SURGEON CLEARED ME TO EAT WHAT I WANT.
JRT Mom replied to Slimming Down Steve's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think your surgeon removed your organic stomach and put a cast iron pouch in its place! I'm two months out and just started eating artificial meat a week ago...glad to hear you are doing well! The weight is falling off of you! -
Jake you don't even look like the same person! Did you clip art some lumberjack's picture??
-
Yeah, I guess it WOULD get into your system waaaay faster after a bypass! 🤪

What supplements are y'all taking besides the calcium and vitamins? I've added biotin for hair loss, Vitamin E and K for better calcium absorption, flaxseed oil for Omega-3 fatty acids (I'm a vegetarian so won't take fish oil...) and a probiotic. I had to get one of those freakin pill organizers that my mother-in-law used and laughed at...Gawd I'm gettin old...

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to, cry if I want to...you would cry too if it happened to you!

To sleeve or not to sleeve, that is the question!
JRT Mom replied to curvee gêne rosa's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
If you are having band problems you should definitely consider a revision. And I know you are interested in a sleeve, but you should consider the bypass. First of all, it isn't more severe--in the sleeve they are removing a large portion of your stomach. In the bypass the stomach is sectioned off, but the remnant (the part left after the pouch is made) is still there, and the bypass is actually reversible, while the sleeve is not. If done by laparoscope the bypass and sleeve are about the same risk--actually more people have died getting hip replacements! Did you have reflux before you were banded? If so the bypass is a better choice. Costwise, I'm sure the bypass costs more but I don't know that for a fact. Whatever you decide, get that dang band out and start being able to eat again (albeit smaller portions) without the fear of what it will do THIS time. I know before I got mine out I faced each meal with trepidation--am I going to be able to eat this without throwing up? Whatever you decide, visit often--you'll learn a lot here. Good luck! -
I melted coconut oil, added herb and simmered it for an hour, Then melted chocolate chips into it and added a bit of sugar. I froze it so it would keep. It was yummy like fudge! But I recently threw it away-I was afraid I would dump with it! First time in my life I wasted good herb...😰
