I am a little more than 3 weeks post VSG (August 21st) and my Dr cleared me to workout as well as lift light weights after my 2 week appointment. Of course please listen to you're individual Dr's advice. I know different Dr's say different things all the time. My instructions were" you are ok to start working out, if it starts to hurt then stop doing it." He also said I could work out with weights but it has to be light weight and not to go crazy with the heavy weights as of yet. As I stated earlier its up to your Dr. But mine stated that I was good after two weeks! Good luck on you're surgery! I know you may still be a little worried but you will be absolutely fine! Not trying to scare you but just let you know my personal experience, my first three days were the worst and after that all of the gas pain disappeared and I did not have any pain at the incision sites. I had a liver biopsy done because my liver was so fatty and that hurt as well as where they took the stomach. The liver biopsy I could feel and that was the worst pain but it was not too bad. I now that they tell you not to lift more than 20 pounds but one week out I had to lift my aging golden retriever up several stairs because his hips were giving out on him and that absolutely hurt. Sorry I rambled! Have a great day and good luck!
