  1. Hi All, My band has been in my body for 14.5 years. I have been having some severe problems with it for many years now. Our insurance has a no weight-loss surgery restriction. So we got care credit for $7500 and my husband cashed a chunk of his retirement out to pay for the rest.:( My band to sleep for vision is October 3 My husband is naturally skinny and so is his family. I just feel so much guilt because we have four children and really can't afford this. My husband keeps saying not to feel guilty and that my health is most important. But I still do. Is anyone else in the same boat?

    Pcos

I have the lapband but I'm getting a revision to sleeve on October 3rd. Anyway I also have PCOS. Maybe one or two times a year I have a period. If even that. Anyway my first child was with the help of chlomid. Then 2 chlomid miscarriages. Then I had 3 more children with the help of Femera and the lapband weight loss I'm sure. Anyway if you haven't tried femera it was amazing. Since I used it my sister has as well and 3 of my cousins. All resulting in healthy babies.:) Mine are now 16-12-10 and 4 sending you lots of luck❤️

    Relief:)

Hi Friends, I am getting lapband to sleeve revision on October 3rd. I have had the lapband for 14.5 years!! Done in Mexico. I maintained a significant weight loss and was a size 4-6 all of those years. Including having 4 children. But... In the last 5 years I have had a huge amount of problems with it. Gerd, back pain, vomiting and so many more. It turns out a ton of scar tissue build up as well. It just dawned on me that I actually get it out once and for all!!!!!! Yay!!!!! Anyone else in a similar situation?:)
  7. That's so nice to hear! I really am excited to get the band out. 14.5 years with that awful thing:/ This helps my anxiety a lot thank you:)

    Oh No Phentermine! Help!!!

I guess it can interfere with the anesthesia. But given that this is an endoscopy not my actual VSG surgery I feel like the anesthesia is going to be different than what they use for VSG. Hopefully a more mild anesthesia since you get to go home a few hours after the Endoscopy. But I'm still worried so I'm looking for anyone that may have also taken phentermine close to their endoscopy day. Or just some positive news hopefully :-)
  10. My Dr is Dr. Michaelson too! Glad to hear you liked him.😊
  11. I'm getting my endoscopy there tomorrow and lapband to sleeve revision there on October 3rd.

    Relief:)

I can't wait for that feeling:)
  13. Hi All, I was just wondering if your spouse or friend or support person stayed overnight with you at the hospital the day you got surgery. I assumed my husband would be able to stay there with me on a couch or a cot or something. So did he. But I just got off the phone with my surgery center and they said he can only stay until 8 PM. Although he knows I will be in good hands, he really wanted to stay with me because he is worried. anyone else not allowed to have a spouse there or chose not to?

    Spouse staying at the hospital?

It's not me that is asking him to stay on an uncomfortable couch or chair. He is just like that. He said he is so worried he would not be comfortable anywhere else but staying in the same room as me. I keep telling him it will be just fine . We have four children at home that my mother-in-law was going to stay with. But now he will be able to be with them. That's a lot of work in itself and he probably is needed at home. The kids are 16,13,10 and 4 and they are all in sports. So I felt like it would be better he was home as well. But he's not happy about it. Thank you guys for telling me your story. It's nice to hear what others went through on their journey.
  15. Following. I'm curious too. My surgery date is October 3rd. Yay us!

    Shakeology

Hi all, I am 3 weeks out from band to sleeve revision surgery. I was wondering if anyone uses shakeology for protein. I currently do and love it but I think with the sleeve my protein needs will be greater with the sleeve then the band. If anyone uses shakeology does it work for your protein needs?

    Shakeology

I agree Sherianne. I also find I'm more successful at protein shakes when it's shakeology because I actually like it.:)
  18. Hi all, I have had my band since 2003 and on October 3 I will be getting the revision to sleeve. I have heard weight loss is slower in revision patients than someone that was getting weight-loss surgery for the first time. Does anyone have experience with this and has it been accurate for you? I'm very short and I have about 50 pounds to lose. I maintained over 100 pound weight loss for all of those years. But I have been having band complications for many years now as well . Now the pounds are creeping back on.

    Calling all October sleevers!!

    October 3rd! congrats everyone!!!
  21. You are right Paul. I'm actually pretty scared to remove part of my body. There was always comfort in knowing the band was removable.

    You look fabulous!
  23. I had the band in Mexico when I was 20 in 2003. I lost all the weight Dow to 130lbs on average and maintained that healthy weight for all these years . I also had 4 kids in that time. Until this last year my little band issues became severe band issues. Especially acid reflux and back pain . I hadn't had water in 4 years. Only soda could go down. I had my band I filled 3 months ago and have gained big time. I'm now 167lbs . In 3 months:( my revision band to sleeve surgery is October 3. My endo is this Monday then liquid diet for 2 weeks. I totally get how you are feeling. All the what ifs and fear and tired of band complications.:(
  24. Thank you for this post. I'm getting my band out in 3 weeks and getting the sleeve and I have been trying to see what the recovery difficulties are. I got the band in 2003 and the mood swings didn't happen as well as some other symptoms so I'm preparing myself:) congratulations on your new successful journey:)
