    after delivery problem w/band?

I have read a lot on pregnancy and the band because I would like to have more children. I haven't read about any complications with the band. My mom worked with a woman who lost her weight, became pregnant and relost with no problems. I have read that it is unsafe for you and the child if you become pregnant before a year is up. Good luck

    6 month diet...little white lie?

I have Aetna and they required 6mths. My dr. has a nutritionist on staff and she took care of notating everything required by insurance. Not only do you have to diet but you have to make behavior changes. She monitored my weight and changes for the six months. I went to my insurance companies web site and did a search for articles on my surgery. All the requirements came up. Good luck. It was a long six months but my approval came quick and surgery was almost immediate after that.

Hi! I'm new here and planning

I to have Aetna and went through the 6 mths pre approval steps. It was long but now 10day post op and down 18lbs I already feel it was worth it. My husband was also against the surgery. We started praying for direction, researching it together and went to a meeting together. Once he started to look at the pros/cons he got on board. He has been a wonderful support for me.

    day one of liquids

Are you on opti-fast? I found I wasn't hungry. The first couple days were difficult because I wanted to eat. By the end of my ten days, I wasn't even finishing my shakes. You will have some rough points over the next month but now I am 10 days post op, feeling good and down 18lbs. Hang in there!

Congratulations. I will be here before you know it. I can't believe I was approved and then now I am 9 days post op. It happened so fast.

    Mission Accomplished

How long ago was your surgery? What is the spirometer? I am 9 days out and am finally feeling human. Tonight I had some pain but I think it is because of the incredibly busy day I had.

    Food Processor/Blender

I HAVE A MAGIC BULLET. I haven't used it yet because I am not at the mushie stage yet. It was recommended that I get one.

    Is this normal??

My friend who is 9mths post op and down over 100lbs had the same problem early on. I am not sure of the amounts put in the band however, she did have to go back and continue to have liquid removed.
  10. I made my own soup. I used chicken broth and lots of veggies. when it was done I pureed the soup. It was a little thick for one week out so I added extra broth to thin it out a bit. It really hit the spot and held me over. I only have about once a day that I am really hungry and my dr said I could have some sugar free pudding and I also picked up some sugar free fudgsicles. I am getting through that way.

    Gained a pound on mushies

But, isn't it true that even if our appetite is the same it is dangerous to eat like we used to?

    gas pains

I am 9 day post op and still suffering with gas. I have cut down on pain meds now that my incisions are healing. I tried everything to get rid of the gas, but the only thing that worked was movement. Of course, early on movement hurt. I have been up 15lbs due to the gas. This morning I was well enough to go for a walk and that helped reduce some gas. Maybe around 4 lbs worth! Yea! HANG IN THERE. I used ice on my swelling to reduce it. As your incisions heal your gas will not be as painful.

    Gained a pound on mushies

I am 9 days post op and up 15lbs. I have been assured that this is due to the surgery and that our bodies take a long time to get back to normal. I would let this upset you. I am sure that once we have our fills weight will start to come off. Best of luck!
  14. I just read on another thread that if you can mush it with your fork you can eat it. I am only 9 days out so still on liquids. Lookin forward to mushing with a fork.
  15. Where did you read that you could start mushies so quick after surgery? I am 9 days out and dying to start mushies! My dr said no. I find myself hungry. Usually, once a day. I have liquid, liquid, liquid and still hungry. I am making it but boy would I love to have something else.
