Can't give up COFFEE!
StarbuxQueen replied to abeaher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is strange. Give it more time. I didn't try coffee until yesterday. I work at starbucks so giving it up would be a real challenge. I had a nonfat latte and I handled it fine. I was nervous. Maybe try again in a week or two. -
Hopefully, someone with more experience can answer you. My suggestion would be to call your dr. right away. I know my dr said if I have any of those symptoms to call him because it could indicate a problem. Hopefully, everything is fine with you. Good luck.

Not all Drs. require a liquid diet. Lucky you. My dr. put me on a two week liquid diet to shrink my liver. My friend had chicken wings the night before her surgery because her dr. didn't require a pre op diet. My dr. said that high fat foods effect the liver. So I would try to avoid them. You can have gas X on hand for after surgery. It helps some people, but movement was what eventually helped my gas. As far as protein shakes go, I used my pre surgery shakes. They had 14 grams of protein and 160 calories. If you can find something like that. Good luck!

Hi, I've been reading your board, and what is an NSV?

NSV: Non-scale victory -- a weight-loss achievement that has little to do with numbers From the home page click on freq. asked questions. From that page they have abbreviations. Good luck -
lapband 3 wks ago and starving

I have had some really great and filling protein foods. Keeping me more full. I did cook these myself so I could control the ingredients. I made meatballs and sauce. If you add 1/2 cup of water the meatballs come out very moist. Easy to smash, very filling. I also made a turkey burger. I coated the pan with pam and a little grape seed oil. If it starts to stick you can add a little chicken broth. When it was done I put some terriaki on it and again easy to smash and filling. -

The above posters are correct. I have made a delicious chicken salad twice. I used chicken, dried cranberry (a few) and light canola mayo. I used my pampered chef chopper and chopped it very fine. Yummy! I can't tell the difference in the mayo at all, but I wasn't a big mayo eater before. -
I had a little blood, but if you think it is more then normal I would contact the Dr.

I too drink Isopure. I was a big soda/coffee drinker so the isopure give me that bottle in the hand feeling. I also made a soup that has saved me. I used chicken broth/stock and loads of veggies. wwhen the soup was cooked I pureed it. It hits the spot when I am hungry. Sometimes I add a little low fat parm. cheese or part skim mozzarella. If you want a better recipe I can send you one. -
New to the site and have some questions
StarbuxQueen replied to ilvlucy607's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was very frustrated with the lack of weight loss however, I am reminded by the kind people on this site that before my fill it is a healing time not weight loss time. My Dr just wanted me to shoot for 5 lbs more this month. THAT'S ALL. He said after my fill the weight loss will begin. -
Lots of rumbling and gas pains?
StarbuxQueen replied to hnladue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in my third week out and still struggling with gas. It just has to work itself out. My Dr. wasn't concerned that if could hurt my band. He just told me to walk when I can. -
Hi, I lived in East Providence. My daughter was born there. I now live in East Windsor, CT. 10 miles from Mass and 10 miles from Hartford, CT.

Welcome. I have relied on this site to get me through my first two weeks. I am in week three now and check in everyday!

A sad (if it's for real) eBay listing

Oh my goodnes. How strange. -
My port site is still very tender and sore. I went to see my Dr. and he said I was fine. I have read that some people are tender for up to a mth. It is always a good idea to check with your Dr.

I would just get right back on track. I blew 2 days on my 2 week pre op liquid diet. Mine was over easter weekend. YIKES! I tried but while I was out shopping for Easter I wasn't even thinking and ordered a turkey wrap when my kids were having their lunch. I ate it in a rush and then did a woops. I felt like I blew it so I ate on Easter. I should have got right back on track but like shortgal said there is a reason we need the band. I also had some problems with bowel movement so I called my DR. He had me introduce some fiber and lean meat if needed. NO FAT. Fat affects the liver and they need the liver to shrink. I was sure he would postpone the surgery but he didn't. Just get back on program and you should be fine. Good luck.

I too thought there is no way I would ever get approved. I am young and healthy. I only have sleep apnea. And then I received the call. It was so fast! I was even approved for Gastric Bypass, but chose lapband. Good luck and don't fret! Dee

On my post op paperwork from my Dr. it states I can have chicken salad this week. I am two weeks post op. But I keep reading on this site that chicken has to be pureed and not chopped. I am confused how I would make chicken salad that way. I opened a can of chicken, added mayo and some cranberries. I put them in my chopper and chopped the heck out of them. It was very smooth. Was this ok???

Chicken Salad???
StarbuxQueen replied to StarbuxQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is how I have been making it. My pampered chef chopper has gotten a lot of use! THANKS FOR THE INPUT! -
just starting the process
StarbuxQueen replied to cleanteeth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It wasn't just about losing it was also about behavior changes. I lost during the six months but then put some back on. I went back and forth and ultimately I was only down a few lbs. Of course, every insurance company is different. I think if you are documenting what you are doing (my nutritionist did that for me) and making a behavior change every month you should be fine. They want to see you have made an effort. behavior changes I had to list were things like...sipping Water, not eating in front of tv, walking, taking a 1/2 hour to complete meal, stop drinking soda, becoming caffiene free. My nutritionist had a list of them. Good luck -
Chicken Salad???
