    Anybody take motrin after sleeve?

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and my surgeon said that I could occasionally take NSAIDS with the sleeve, but not with bypass. That was one of the reasons I opted for the sleeve. I am just over 6 months out and have taken a motrin once.
  2. I hope you like it! My son ate all of the leftovers so there went my lunch plans. It will definitely be one we make again.
  3. Tomorrow I will be 4 weeks out and can eat whatever I am able to. What were you eating at 4 weeks? Are there veggies that are easier to tolerate? When did you start eating lettuce? Raw veggies? When did you start tolerate quinoa and grains? My Dr is pretty sold on very low carbs and limited plant based proteins so they want patients to focus on animal proteins. How long did you take protein shakes? Sorry for so many questions. I really want to be plant based and am craving veggies. Thanks!!
  4. I can’t figure out how to post a picture, but we had Roasted Cauliflower and Lentil Tacos with CreamyChipotle Sauce from cookieandkate.com. They were really good! Thank you everyone for sharing your great meals!!

    Osteoarthritis and the Sleeve

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis as well as Sjogren's and now Osteoarthritis in my spine and knees. I had surgery in August and my joints feel so much better! My knees were giving out on me before surgery and I was worried about having to recover from knee replacement surgery at my pre-surgery weight. My knees do not give out on my any more. I hope that you experience greatly improved symptoms!
  6. I had gastric sleeve in August. I have not had a lot of fruit, but have had strawberries and fruit in a green smoothie. I have also had a small piece of fresh pineapple and pomegranate seeds. I have not had problems with any of them.
  7. I ate a lot of refried beans. I also would pour some of the liquid out of lentil soup and put my immersion blender in it to eat the thickened lentils and vegetables. I ate greek yogurt and tofu. I think I was allowed to eat string cheese at that point as well. I was allowed to have eggs then, but only had them a few times at that stage.

    Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis

Omaj That sounds yummy! I love Chili, soup, stew weather! I will have to try this.
  9. Newme17 your Chana saag recipe looks delicious!!
  10. I really like the website veganricha.com for vegan recipes and many of them are Indian food. She has 2 cookbooks. The first is vegan Indian food. Her flavors are great and many are simple. I also like cookieandkate.com for vegetarian and vegan recipes and isachandra.com for vegan recipes.

    Surgery and Working

I had planned to go back to work at 6 days post op, but I was so tired and was just not ready. I did work half time at 9 days and was back to work full days at 2 weeks. My job is pretty active.

    Protein belly issues

I could only tolerate vegan protein shakes.
  14. I told my dentist I was having the surgery and asked if there was anything I should do differently to protect my teeth after surgery. She had me switch to an electric toothbrush and use fluoride at bedtime.
  15. We had to take in 96 ounces a day from day 2. It is very hard some days.
  16. I have bought some clothing on ebay and have found a few great thrift stores. I have stuck mostly with brands that I know how they fit, except for some cute things that were priced under $5 and I decided to take a chance. When I shop on eBay, I put a cap on the price of items that I am looking at and have gotten some great deals. I have bought more clothes that are sized M, L, XL rather than individual number sizes. I did buy some dresses and leggings with sweaters to get me through fall. I found a lands end coat for $8 at a local thrift store and have gotten Jill, Talbots, Eileen Fisher pants and sweaters for $4-5 at another thrift store. I am trying not to spend over $20 for any items unless I really need to until I am closer to my goal weight. My son has a weekly commitment that is about an hour so at least once a month I drop him off and run to one of the consignment stores and look around.
  17. I made roasted sweet potatoes with black beans and chimichuri sauce- I didn't eat much but loved them. Mashed sweet potatoes sound great too!
  18. I had sautéed zucchini noodles with spaghetti sauce. It was good.
  19. I eat all kinds of beans and lentils and don't have problems. That is interesting about peanut butter.
  20. That is good to know. I love your green bomb idea!
  21. Thanks! It is really surprising how different Dr instructions are! I was allowed to have refried beans at 2 weeks and whole beans at 3 weeks. I have not had any problems with beans. I'm not as crazy about canned veggies as much as fresh ones. Definitely a learning curve
  22. Thanks for the advice! Zucchini sounds great
  23. Wow! That is good to hear! I'm glad you are doing so well with those. I really am craving lettuce but was nervous to try. Now I am excited to try soon.
