Anyone out there still wear their binder?
JloCuchara replied to Rose400491's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am exactly 8 days post op. I had laparoscopic as well. I was given a white binder as well. My doctor gives them to all patients he says it helps the belly stay in place better as you move around. He will make his patients that had a hernia fixed wear them until their first check up but He said that I only had to wear it when I walk around, since I didn't have a hernia, but I wear it all the time unless i am in the shower. It gives me relief while walking around as well as when i lay in bed. I got my drain taken out the day i left the hospital and took off the gauze that was tapped down just yesterday as the doctor said it was ok. Still can't shower "normal" as they don't want to have my incisions get "soaked" so i wash my body normally minus the belly and do as they say and let my shampoo just run down the belly. I still have the clear "glue" over all the incisions still and they said they will come off on their own. I go back for my first check up in a few weeks. I am amazed at hose much weight i have lost in just 8 days! 21.6 pounds already. I don't see a physical difference really except my face seems a little thinner but the scales show im doing great so im pretty excited -

What is your Pre-OP Diet?
JloCuchara replied to hernandez776's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 2 week (14 days) pre-op diet. 5,10,15 rule which is a protein shake that has less than 5 fat grams, less than 10 carbs and more than 15 grams of protein. i am drinking the premier protein shakes vanilla and the caramel ones. 1 protein shake for breakfast 1 protein shake for lunch 4 oz of lean meat for dinner (2 shot glasses worth or 2 small bites) 46oz of clear liquids, no carbonation, no caffeine The day before surgery it is clear liquids only, no shakes no food. I started my diet Oct. 25, it has been super rough but i have lost 8.8 pounds already. I still have the normal size stomach as i haven't had surgery yet and i am still very hungry everyday, but i know in just 1 week more it will be all better and I will have the surgery done and then I won't worry so much about food anymore. I was never a big eater to begin with, usually ate only 1 time a day and that was at dinner, I suppose that is why my metabolism got so slow to begin with? Anyways, I just keep up on fluids every time i feel hungry and try to make myself full that way. Good luck to everyone -
I started my pre-op diet on Oct. 25th. It has been 6 days and i have already lost 8.8 pounds . it's been really rough for me. I am allowed 1 protein shake for breakfast, 1 protein shake for lunch and for dinner i am allowed 4oz of lean protein.. That's only about a bite or 2, i measured my shot glasses that i collect and they are 2 oz, so i can eat 2 shot glasses worth of protein a day. 64 ounces of clear fluids, no carbonation and no caffeine. I know it will be worth it in the end but i still have a normal stomach now and i am still hungry, 2 little bites of food and 2 protein shakes don't really do much for me since i am up and awake from 5 am to 10 pm.... ;( Hopefully it will get easier as the days go, my surgery is in 8 days so it's not too far away.

For me my surgeon sent me to a sleep hospital because they had to hook me up to all kinds of wires that actually measured my sleep and was able to see if i stopped breathing during the night, that is how they tell if you have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is when you stop breathing in your sleep. You are allowed to do this 2 times in a 45 minute span, if you do it more often then you will get a cpap machine. I am not sure how you were able to see if you stopped breathing at home without all of the tests being ran while you were sleeping???? However, i went to the sleep hospital and stayed 8 hours, they need at least 4 hours of good sleep. In the middle of the night they came in and told me that I have quit breathing over 30 times in 5 minutes so they put a cpap machine on me and continued to do the tests while i slept the rest of the night. Now i do have to sleep with a cpap machine every night. All the cpap machine does is force air either through your nose or your mouth to make sure that you are getting enough air so you don't stop breathing in the middle of the night. I had a mask at first but then i switched to nasal pillows and that works much better for me. Even if you do have sleep apnea and have to use a cpap machine, its not as bad comfortable wise so i would just talk to your doctor about it.

I'm not trying to "cheat" the test but i heard that sometimes the antibiotic regimen doesn't work and some have to do it again. I also heard that some take the peto bismol with it so i was wanting to know if others have done that or what else they took along with the antibiotics to help them get rid of it? I have heard some say eat more brussel sprouts as they are high in something that helps kill it, etc. My surgeon wont do the surgery if i have it so i am trying to get rid of it. I never even had any symptoms of having it so not sure how long it's been inside my body?

Question about protein shakes
JloCuchara replied to sarajane80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

It's been 6 months since i have started this journey.. I have completed all my visits, etc. The last step was to get my labs done before they turned everything into my insurance company. My insurance is very picky so they wanted an H.Pylori breath test done as well. Everything came back negative except the H.Pylori I am now taking Amoxocilin, Biaxin, and Prilosec for 14 days.. It's only been 6 days so far, but i am wanting to know what else people have taken along with this regimen to help them test negative at their next breath test? I have heard some say Petpo Bismol works but when do i take it and how much a day and for how long? Anything else that people have tried??? I am really wanting to get my surgery soon and we though it would be in Oct. but since i am positive for the H.Pylori they won't even schedule me for surgery yet because my insurance wants the H.pylori test.. So I am wanting to be negative when i go get tested again OCT.3 So i don't have to do all of this regimen again.... Please any advice or suggestions or what has worked for you will be grateful Thank you

H-Pylori Treatment Nightmare!!!!

Did you have to do the regimen more than the 14 days? Did you take anything else to help get a negative result when you got tested again? I have heard some say pepto bismol helps but not sure? I am taking biaxin, previcide and amoxicilin but want to make sure that it is gone before i do the test again as i don't want another positive result and have to do this all over -

Lab Test needed and surgery is on 9/15
JloCuchara replied to Sperez1110's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tested positive for H.Pylori via a breath test, I am finished with everything else and was ready to turn into my insurance when i was tested, My insurance requires it. I am currently taking Biaxin, Previcide and Amoxicillin for the next 14 days. I was wondering if anyone else has had this and what else did they take to get rid of it? I go for testing again Oct. 3rd so i am waning a negative test result so i can be scheduled for surgery. I have read that some people used Extra Strength Pepto Bismol but how much and when did you take it? did you take it with the antibiotics and previcide or after those were done? Anything that has worked for anyone here would be great to hear from you, please.
