  1. Well I'm 8 years poat op from the lap band. Honestly, I can't recall how much I could eat 3yrs post op.
  2. Ok so we can check the Upper GI (barium swallow) off the list as well as blood work. The doctor who performed the upper gi said that the band looked good, no slippage BUT I do have a hiatal hernia (not surprised). I guess we'll see what the surgeon says on Tuesday. FX my BMI is up to 35.
  3. Something that could throw my revision off course..........my husband has been wanting to find a a new job for awhile now. His commute is HORRID. It's only about 45 minutes BUT traffic is so bad. It's always 90 minutes to and from and he's been doing it for 5 years now and he's just done (so am I). He's got some interviews coming up and whether he gets one of those jobs or not chances are he'll get a new job before my surgery. I'm praying to God that the insurance is better and not worse!
  4. I rescheduled my Upper GI. It's going to be this Friday the 29th! I'm glad I get to have it done before I see the surgeon on the 3rd.
  5. Not crazy at all! I've actually had others suggest this to me!

    Concerned

I was banded in 09 and want to have a revision to the sleeve but after testing I may find that I don’t qualify and have to have bypass instead. I’ll definitely do it if I find that it is my only option but the whole rerouting of the intestines thing kind of freaks me out. Anyone else have similar concerns but now loving the choice of bypass?
  7. Hi all, I was supposed to have my Upper GI this past Friday the 15th but I had to cancel. My son has been sick (now my husband and I are as well) and he was up the ENTIRE night. Ugh. I literally didn't sleep at all. So, I'm going to call Monday and reschedule. Good news is I found the pictures from the surgeon who removed my fallopian tube back in 2015. She was the Dr. who took a look at the band while removing the fallopian tube and said that she didn't think it looked right. I'm going to bring the pics to the surgeon on 10/3. I'll try and post them below momentarily.
  8. Hi All, I was banded back in 2009 with a starting weight of 252lbs. In 3 years I was down to 149lbs. From 2012-2015 I got back up to the 200lb mark, yuck. I’ve had major food intolerances and heartburn ect. I had surgery for something else in 2015 and that surgeon took a look at my band and said “it doesn’t look right” so I’m suspect it has slipped. I have my consult for the revision surgery on Friday 9/15. Some questions: What was the recovery like for you? How long did it take from your consult to the surgery? Anyone with Cigna? Can you share your experience with insurance? What is the post op diet like? Similar to the band? When were you sleeved and how much have you lost so far? Do you recommend the sleeve?
  9. Do you have a co morbidity? I had sleep apnea when I went through all of this for the lap band so I'm hoping I still have it so I can get approved.
  10. Well that .6cc removal of my band really gave me the ability to take in so much more. I'm up to 204. Oh well at least it'll make it that much easier to hit the 35 BMI. I called the hospital today regarding the at home sleep study and they said they are just waiting for approval from insurance and then they will scheduled. It feels so wrong that I'm like praying I still have sleep apnea.
  11. Thanks all! I'm pretty sure I'll be all set because they took fluid out of my band last week and I'm already up a few lbs =( That combined with the weight of my clothing is going to get my BMI up to 35 and I'm 90% sure I still have sleep apnea which is a comorbitity. =(
  12. I have Cigna. Here is a little background. I had the lap band surgery in 2009. Initially went from 252lbs to 149lbs and now and back up to 202lbs. This past Friday I had my initial consultation for the sleeve revision surgery. The nurse practitioner is concerned that because my BMI is under 35 that insruance won't cover the sleeve. I called my insurance and they said my plan definitely covers bariatric surgery. They gave me this link. If you look at page 4 it talks about the revisional surgery. I don't see anywhere that it states my BMI must be 35 with a comorbitity. Do you ? For an initial surgery yes (page 2) but not the revisional surgery. You can take a look at the link if you want to see everything but here is a picture of page 4. Anyone who really understands this stuff I'd really appreciate your insight! Insurance confuses me so! https://cignaforhcp.cigna.com/public/content/pdf/coveragePolicies/medical/mm_0051_coveragepositioncriteria_bariatric_surgery.pdf
  13. Hey I just saw that you are from MA! Me too! I'm up near Lowell.
  14. Amazing, thanks for sharing!
  15. You don't even look like the same person! Congrats!!!
  16. You look amazing and like a different person! I am so happy for you being able to ride all the rides with your son. He must have loved that!
  17. I was banded in 09 but am having problems with it so I'm looking at the sleeve revision. I was losing before my initial appt but now my BMI is too low. So I have to weigh more at my next appt before insurance submittal. I plan to lift weights and build muscle before surgery and eat good things but as much as I want to try and maintain where I am at. That is of course unless the Dr. says losing after approval is OK.
  18. I was banded in 09 when I was 22 and my goal was 125lbs because that was like in the middle for what was considered "normal" for my height. When I hit 149lbs I felt AMAZING and decided to stay right there. 150lbs was the top of the range but I was in a size 8 and felt great. I'm now looking into sleeve revision surgery and am keeping my goal around 145-150 still.

    Sleeved 8/29/17

Following! I was banded in 08 and just started looking into revision!
  20. Wow. Since removing .6cc from my band last week to help my reflux I can eat almost ANYTHING. It did get rid of my reflux but I want to be losing right now, not gaining. Hopefully a few pounds will help me out when it comes to my BMI and approval.

    Realistic Weight Loss

My situation is a littler different BUT I always thought my goal weight was 125lbs but when I got to 149lbs and felt AMAZING I realized that I was perfectly happy right there.
  22. My thought too! I have an upper GI this week then I'll schedule an upper endoscopy after my consult with the surgeon 10/3.
  23. Thanks for sharing your interpretation of this! It's so confusing. I'm not sure if they go by tje weight you lost or your current weight.
  24. I'm so sorry about the failed fertility issies. I've been through 2 rounds of ivf myself.
