All of a sudden I want to eat so badly. I'm still on pureed diet phase, so I will not push it, but this urge is overwhelming. Words of encouragement appreciated.

What's beem the ptoblem(s)? What has been the problem(s)? I'm 6 weeks out and really sticking with shakes, but getting nutrients. Had a couple of backed up esophagus scares, but I'm learning to take smaller bites, chew like crazy, and take my time.

Help My Hair is falling out
Aries331 replied to Jadeskys's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm only 6 weeks post-op and started taking biotin 2 weeks ago to be cautious and my nails are healthier and my hair is thicker. I had scalp issues before and that seems better controlled to. It certainly doesn't hurt. -
What's your protein goal? Mine is a min 60, which I get, but should be aiming for 80-120...

Nov 20. Down 20 lbs. I read another post about eating enough and I may be under eating. I should be on pureed foods, but really only have those a few times per week. I am satisfied with 3 premier protein shakes a day. I think I need to move on and add more foods....

Hi all. Surgery is November 20th and I'm curious about hunger. I know it won't take a lot to quell the hunger, but how often does it occur & how intense?
-
I'm 3 weeks in and not very hungry at all. I'm doing great.

I get this so much more now being 2 days shy of 3 weeks post-op, which seemed SO far away. And yet, here I am. I am taking full advantage weight loss and losing the sugar cravings. I am focusing on building the skills for when urges & old habits are triggered. #armmyself

This all sounds familiar from having gone through a binge eating disorder program and normalizing food. Hunger and fullness cues change. The thing I appreciate right now is that if I'm hungry, a protein shake takes care of it. Without surgery I'd be back to my old ways. And also, going all day without eating tends to make a person make The wrong choices, especially if meals are not planned .

Can you recommend one and name your favorite unflavored protein powder?

I have a couple more weeks until regular food. 1 more until soft food. I hope I'm just having a day. Good luck to you.

Surgery Scares...how many do YOU have and how much of them vanish

I meant to add that Vitamin e is good for stretch marks too and I bought some oils and slather it all over. -
Surgery Scares...how many do YOU have and how much of them vanish

Same story for me. I have some hard lumps under my scars that I hope soften or reduce. I was RNY on 11/20/17. It's going great. 0 nausea. -
I just need to vent for a moment. Nearly everyone I've told about this surgery thinks they have some way to relate. What is it with people? If they've dieted, they think they know the same issues, or had another surgery, or ate baby food. Has anyone else had this? I'm glad I limited who I've told. This is annoying.[emoji36]

That's why I want unflavored - to add to other foods with less protein. I don't quite get your definition of differences between unflavored vs flavor-free.

Feels - Everything is going so great, which feels weird. I am not nauseous at all, which is unusual for me. Everything feels different. Hunger doesn't feel like hunger, nausea doesn't feel like nausea. I shouldn't complain, it's just so unexpected. And it's almost more of a struggle because everyone said I would vomit and I in a week I haven't at all. I get full of gas/ air, burp, and move on. If ever I feel too full, standing up helps move things through. Of course I'm on liquids so it's easier. I am going to take pureed foods very slowly. I'm actually not anxious to move onto more foods, but I do want to add in veggies.

I started using straws and seem to be ok. I am 7 days post-surgery and feel great or don't quite know what I'm feeling. Hunger doesn't feel like hunger, I haven't been nauseous at all, which is unusual for me. I burp, which hurts, and get hiccups, but otherwise not many issues. Straws haven't been a problem. I just need to stay mindful that I don't need to eat right now. Stick with my 3 shakes a day and I'm fine. Water, jell-o, tea, etc. in between and no problems. I hope my brain catches up with my stomach in terms of not wanting/ needing to eat...
-
Hi folks. Is sipping through a straw a problem for anyone post-surgery? I'm thinking of protein drinks & liquids.

No. 20 gm proteins

I'm thinking of getting my hummingbird tat on the corner of my shoulder. Solid black. I think it's my spirit animal. I'll add more to my collection when I hit my gw.

If that's too personal maybe you recently had food poisoning perhaps? -

You'll obviously have to make something up. Maybe tell them you're on a medication that limits what and when you eat. -
I agree - Premier protein is the best and available at Costco or on Amazon, amongst other places, and also inexpensive. Comes pre-made or in powder. Body fortress is another really good one. It's available at Wal-Mart & target that I've found.
-
And best of luck. I'm so happy I did this. I was 11/20/17.

Learn to take tiny sips now. Your brain and mouth probably aren't used to this. Protein powder or shakes, SF water flavoring All the vitamins your team indicated. Strong resolve. one day you will eat normal food, but for many weeks it will be a challenge to only be allowed fluids & soft foods.
