    Change in plan

Yes! God forbid! And the heartburn is awful! Mine has calmed down but it was pretty bad. My metabolism died before I even hit my teen years, lol. And the aches and pains of carrying around extra weight is no fun either. I think we are definitely making the right choices for ourselves (and in your case, for your family).

    Change in plan

I am just starting my process for bypass and I keep trying to explain this to a friend that bypass does not mean no more sweets forever. I have a relative who didn't even like sweets until after bypass and they don't make her sick. I have another relative who also has zero issues with sugae after bypass. I started the process considering the sleeve but eventually opting for bypass because of my family history of diabetes and high blood pressure. I don't have these things but I do not want them either. Also, my surgeon believes this is the best option for me because I have a metabolism problem. I don't eat much but I still gain/retain weight. Best wishes on your journey [emoji5]

    I have a date!

I'm just starting my journey too. Had my first surgeon visit on 10/13 and have the abdominal ultrasound and first nutrition appointment coming up on Monday. Pulmonary appointment on Tuesday. February upper endoscopy and a March cardiologist appointment. Because of my insurance the process takes 7 months (7 nutritionist visits). I also wonder why the the OP had such a dragged out process. Wishing you both the best on your journeys [emoji5]
  5. Congrats! You look amazing!
  6. I am also in the beginning stages and though I originally was going to opt for the sleeve, I started leaning towards the bypass. After my consultation with the surgeon I've decided on the bypass. I have a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure (I don't have either of these ailments) and after telling my surgeon about my appetite (I don't eat as often as I should) he declared my problem a metabolism problems and said it could be fixed by bypass but not sleeve. The biggest concern I keep hearing about the sleeve is the risk of developing GERD. The biggest complaint about bypass that I've heard is the vitamins and potential hair loss from lack of vitamins. All you can do is research. I wish you the best of luck on your journey

    Going to a Seminar

The Bariatric Coordinator did most of the talking because the surgeon ran late. He was very apologetic and answered every question thrown at him. Really nice guy and the people at the seminar had similar concerns. I enjoyed it and the fashion show video they showed us of the Bariatric success stories

    Going to a Seminar

So I've decided to start the process of looking into getting the vsg surgery. I've been doing my research, even joined this site to read the different experiences. Its after 1am (eastern time) and later tonight I am attending a Bariatric seminar. I have no idea why I am so nervous but I am. I'm going to the seminar solo which is doing nothing for the jitters. Have no idea why I am so nervous about it. Anyway, I hope everyone is having a nice night. Sorry for the long winded nerves post. Just had to say it.

    Going to a Seminar

The nerves definitely died by the time I walked through the door. It was very informative and I am glad that I went. Now to make the decision about which surgery would be right for me. Excited but also overwhelmed (in a good way)
