Anyone from Connecticut?
ALFxRNY replied to CtzBella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, maintaining had to be hard. I’m doing mine through St Vincent’s hospital. 7 months of nutrition, cardiologist appointment, upper Endoscopy, sleep study, and psych evaluation but after the paperwork is submitted they said it take a week or 2 for approval and usually a scheduled surgery for a month after approval. Best wishes! You are almost at the finish line! -
Varies by insurance and surgeon. My friend did 6 months but didn’t have much testing to do aside from sleep study and the upper Endoscopy. And congrats to you and your sister on your journey!

I’m in CT and have to do 7 nutrition appointments, had to do a sleep study, upper Endoscopy (coming up), cardiology clearance (coming up), psych evaluation (coming up), and blood work. I have 2 more nutrition appointments before my paperwork is submitted. Best wishes, it really does fly by! Oh and if you’re disabled I believe they said it’s a 3 month process

Bypass or Sleeve???
ALFxRNY replied to dreamangel1974's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon suggest RNY for a few reasons. 1) I have mild GERD. 2) I have a bad metabolism and he says the sleeve is more for someone who overeats, I don’t have much of an appetite so the sleeve would be of no help to me, however, the bypass fixes your metabolism. 3) I do not have these ailments but I have a family history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and stroke. Bypass is a preventative measure for these things. At the end of the day you have to choose which surgery is right for you. I choose to trust my surgeon. Hoping for a late May/early June date. Best wishes! -
Reached my goal! 104 lbs gone!

You look amazing! Congrats! -
My surgeon will submit my paperwork after my final nutrition appointment in May so they say it’s looking like a June bypass date for me. If I could get a late May surgery date I’d be even happier. That’s if insurance approves. Good luck everyone!

I’m 31 and single, have never dated in my entire life. However, I met a guy last year and we’ve been talking for almost a year now. He likes my weight but hates that my self esteem is so low. He wants me to do something about my health so that I will be happy but I have no intent of telling him I’m having weight loss surgery. I told him that I’m working on myself (true), I’m seeing a nutritionist (true), and that I was told my metabolism is really bad considering I’m obese and I don’t really eat (also true). I don’t know, just feel like my decision isn’t his business and that he would take issue with it. Sorry for the essay, lol, am I wrong?

Great job on the weight loss! Did you have the sleeve or the bypass if you don’t mind me asking? -
Anyone from Connecticut?
ALFxRNY replied to CtzBella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am from Connecticut. I’m guessing because of my insurance my process is slightly longer (7 months of nutrition instead of 6). I go to my 3rd nutrition class this month and I also have to schedule my 3 month check in with my surgeon’s office as well as scheduling my psych eval I believe. Next month is my upper endoscopy, March is my cardiologist appointment. My surgeon is Dr Neil Floch of Fairfield Bariatrics and if approved my surgery will be at St Vincent’s. Best wishes! -
Really? I’m going through Fairfield Bariatrics (my PCP is St Vincent’s so that’s where I was referred). The requirement sheet told me it’s a mandatory 7 month process. Hoping the 7th month is just a check in thing. Thanks for the reply! Best wishes on your journey!

Intro time: who's new to the group, who's pre-op, & who just recently made it to the loser's bench?

Hi, joined BP back in September I believe. Just completed my 2nd nutrition appointment of the 7 my insurance requires. Have done the abdominal ultrasound and a sleep study. Next month is nutrition appointment #3, my 3 month check in with my surgeon's office, and my psych eval. My upper endoscopy is in February and my cardiologist appointment is in March. I feel like the process is going by pretty quickly. Hoping to get a date in May (very hopeful) or June [emoji5] -
Have date but still waiting for approval

Have date but still waiting for approval
ALFxRNY replied to ewilliams4491's topic in Insurance & Financing
I'm still near the beginning. I've done 2 out of 7 of my nutrition appointments required by my insurance. Aside from that I have done an abdominal ultrasound and a sleep study. Next month I have to do my 3 month check in with my surgeon's office and a psych eval. And that is insane that they don't have an answer for you already. Hopefully they will fax your approval papers over before your surgery date -

ALFxRNY replied to ewilliams4491's topic in Insurance & Financing
I'm nowhere near this stage yet. However, I've seen people say that they've reached out to their insurance (called them) to see if they were approved. Have you tried calling your insurance? Good luck! -
The prices really do seem reasonable. I hope you find one with great ratings that works well!

Of course we're going to check on you! My holiday was boring, didn't do any shopping, very quiet. And I've been looking at the support garments on amazon. Guess I should order one before I ever get a date, lol. Glad you are doing well and that the holiday went smoothly [emoji4]
