    So. Many. Appointments.

My insurance requires 7 months of nutrition visits, an abdominal ultrasound, cardiology clearance, a sleep study, upper endoscopy, 3 month check in, blood work, and a psych evaluation. I’ve completed everything but the psych evaluation. It does get a bit overwhelming at times and some of the places required more than one appointment (consult, study, results). Hopefully your job is understanding. Best wishes and good luck!

    May or June Surgery date:

Looking at a late May early June date depending on which day my last nutrition appointment falls on. I currently take care of my mom so coming home afterwards is going to be a challenge. Best wishes to everyone!
  4. Congrats on your journey! I’m almost done with all of my insurance requirements, looking at a June date for r-n-y. Anyway, it may seem long winded but honestly you end up doing so many appointments that the time just kind of flies by. Best wishes!

    Progress

Look at that progress! Congrats! You look great!
  7. The anesthesia for the endoscopy is considered a lite anesthetic so you should be fine. If you have any concerns, speak with your doctor or surgeon. Best wishes!

    June 2018 RnY

I hear you! I’d love to do it sooner than later! Hope you get a date soon!! 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
  9. Keto really does work from what I hear. Only complaint I’ve heard is with the making sure your body stays in ketosis but other than that, people seem to love it. Keep us posted on how it works out [emoji846]

    June 2018 RnY

So this means you will have a possible June date? If so that is awesome! Congrats!
  11. Have you looked into seeing a nutritionist/dietitian. I’m sure they can help you get started. Best wishes!
  12. Super cool! Can’t wait to start my new life [emoji16]
  13. Starting to get excited because I’m almost done with all of my appointments required before insurance submission! My upper endoscopy is in a few hours (I should be sleep), cardiology clearance on Monday, psych evaluation in April, nutrition appointment 6 of 7 the very next day. My very last appointment before submission is a nutritionist appointment in May. My surgeon’s office told me to call them as soon as I am done with the appointment. I’m looking at a June date (or hopefully late May). Sorry for being long winded, just can’t believe how fast it has all flown by. Best wishes to everyone on their journeys [emoji846]
  14. UPDATE: my cardiology clearance went well and they are sending their clearance over to my surgeon! I officially just have the psych eval and 2 nutrition appointments until everything is submitted to insurance!
  15. Thank you! Will definitely have to look into these!
  16. Thank you for the tips! And none of it seemed slow for me. I guess I had so many appointments that my mind was occupied. I’ve definitely learned so much. Now to find vitamins that I can tolerate (the Bariatric ones I tried were entirely too sweet) and I can check that off of my list!
  17. Update: my upper endoscopy went well. Next up, my cardiology appointment on Monday [emoji846]

I see a big difference! You look great!

    Approval

Sorry to hear that. I don’t have a hiatal hernia (thankfully). I don’t know where you are in CT but I’m sure there are other surgeons you can talk to. I was under the impression that most surgeons would fix it during your Bariatric procedure. Keep your head up, I’m sure you’ll find someone to accommodate you [emoji6]

I did my upper endoscopy yesterday. Aside from the IV needle in the hand, it was pretty painless. Also they are more than likely going to have you do a urine sample for pregnancy testing. The actual procedure is only 10-15 minutes but after they let you sleep off the anesthetic it’s about 45 minutes. Hope your barium swallow test went well today. And the nutrition appointments fly by pretty quickly [emoji846]
  21. Thank you! I can’t wait! Minor setback because I’m late for this upper endoscopy because the medical taxi is giving me a hard time about sending out a cab that has already been paid for. Thank God my surgeon’s office is understanding and told me to come anyway when I finally get the taxi.
  22. Thank you! And what I meant by the finish line is finishing all of my requirements for insurance approval. I’m well aware that I’m only just starting! [emoji846]
